The Bard's Inn has one of the best locations in Ashland for theaters, shopping, etc. It has immaculate landscaping. Rooms are adequate, a bit small. Continental breakfast is average--there are steps and hills to negotiate to get to the separate bldg. Owners might consider rerouting access to the bldg as there are many srs who stop at this inn.
Internet access needs to be totally reworked. In this day of technology there is no excuse for not having functional internet access.
The Bard has always been a favorite place for me in Ashland. However, it is beginning to show signs of age and needs to be spiffed up a bit.

“Warm and cozy in April Showers”

Best Western Bard's Inn

Bard's Inn is the place to stay when visiting Ashland in April to see plays at the OSF. We stayed two nights in room #607 in Bldg. 3.

Check-in was fast, our corner room was clean and spacious, breakfast plentiful, and free parking. The night temperature was in the mid 30's. The heater worked perfectly and not loud and noisy. The windows were tight fitting and no drafts coming through while it rained during the night.

The staff was friendly and courteous from time of check-in to check-out.

Our only complaint was the slow internet service .

We would definitely recommend Bard's Inn to our friends and would stay here again when coming to Ashland to see a play.

“Super clean but difficult in wheelchair”

This was by far the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in!! It is located on 3 city blocks downtown and all entrances are from the outside not an inside corridor. They were beautiful rooms but it was cold and I don't think the heaters are sufficient to heat the rooms. We were cold. The breakfast buffet was good but it was across the street so my mom who is in a wheelchair did not even attempt to get over there. Still enjoyed the stay but it was difficult for my mom.

We stayed in this hotel one night near the end of October. We were on our way souith along I-5. The hotel appears to be a collection of several properties on the corner where the streets begin the one way grid at the north end of downtown.
We stayed in what was probably the original motel. The room was clean, quiet, comfortable and reasonably priced. We were able to walk from the hotel to any of several restaurants in the downtown area. They have a large breakfast room with a good continental breakfast. Only problem, the breakfast room did not open until 7 a.m. This would no doubt be fine if you were staying in Ashland to attend the Shakespearen Festival, but since we were traveling, we would have liked it better had it opened at 6:30 am.

I just recently stayed at the Bard's Inn for 4 nights and I have no bad experiences to report. I liked the fact that it was close to the Shakespeare Festival. Any problems I had were minor and were taken care of right away. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. Since I enjoyed my stay there so much, I have already gone ahead and booked the hotel for a 7 night stay next year to give me more time to do other activities that I wasn't able to do with a shorter stay. A bonus for me was when I went ahead and booked it for a week's stay, there was no jump in the rate for Friday and Saturday night.
