“Good value and close to downtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

Bard's Inn is situated in a great spot for Shakespeare, shopping, dining while still being accessible. Newer rooms in the Somerset section are quite lovely, while the orignial motel is smaller and more of your average experience.

Stayed here to see plays in Ashland. Check-in was a breeze, customer service desk went above & beyond to make the process smooth (even with a small hiccup). Rooms were comfortable, amenities intact, and the appliances all worked well. Bed was a little firm, but that's not a big deal to me - just worth mentioning in a thorough review. The pool & hot tub were very clean. The free breakfast was adequately stocked with a variety of options. Finally, this hotel was so close to the downtown plaza that it was extremely convenient to run back and forth between shopping, eating, and plays.

The Bard's Inn is a short walk to the Shakespeare Festival. You almost wish they would pull down this old motel style building, exterior walkways, no privacy, high noise level from children, and replace it with a modern hotel. The tradeoffs against the location is you can hear every outside discussion and car noise.

Room Tip: Not sure there are any.

Thank you for writing a review of our property, we appreciate your comments. Unfortunately our property is located in a downtown location facing busy streets. We do have some "quieter" rooms available but are very desirable and consequently booked quickly.

I hope you will consider staying with us again, the next time you venture to Ashland.

Sincerely,

We always stay here when we make our annual 330 mile drive up to Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival. We have a favorite room which we ask for when we make our reservation. The room is close to all three theaters of the Festival, has good beds, a refrigerator, and air-conditioning (it was 104 degrees when we arrived this year). The staff did two things: At about midnight, showed me how to adjust the AC; and alerted us that we had left the dome light on in our car. Good place and people!

Thank you for staying with us again and again. We really appreciate your business and continued loyalty! We are a family owned company and our owner treats us like family, so once you stay with us, trust me you are a part of our family.

So glad we were able to alert you that your dome light was still on in your car at midnight and you were able avoid a dead battery.

Looking forward to your next visit to Ashland and The Best Western Bards Inn.

Sincerely,

Great location downtown within walking to all major shops and shows. Great breakfast. It is so nice to get up and have a nice breakfast that is open till 10:30 am. I have stayed at thousands of hotels over the years and this is a first for us. It comes with the room and they do not run out of food. The service worker even was so nice to say that she would be back with more quiche. The room that breakfast is served in is overlooking the corner streets and very accommodating. It was so relaxing to see that the nice and simple meal was for hotel guest not the proprietors children like son small hotels and inns are using it for. Clean and loved that it did not allow pets in our area of the hotel.

Thank you for letting others know about our centrally located hotel. I am so glad that you enjoyed our breakfast. Our kitchen manager has been with us for over ten years and makes most of the items that day. We have full time staff preparing and filling the selections so the guests should always find our breakfast satisfying.

Thank you for your comments and we look forward to your next visit to Ashland.

The hotel was nice and quiet. Very close to Lithia park and downtown shopping and food. The rooms are a little cramped - we stayed for 5 nights and the price was $170 which is probably normal for the ashland area. Continental breakfast was OK with cereal, pancakes, egg, sausage, coffee.

Dear Guest:

Not all of our rooms are small; the room you were in was a Standard room located in our Nottingham Building. We also have some King Jacuzzi rooms that are the size of a small apartment, with a breakfast nook and sitting area, which are located in our Somerset Building.

Be sure to try another building on your next visit and I will personally help you reserve just the "right" one! You can reach me at 1 800 533-9627.

This hotel is close to OSF part of Ashland, It is nice, comfortable room. The room we had was great, but a little small. We were only staying one night - but if we were staying for 3-4 days, I would have asked for a larger room. Everything else about the hotel was great.
