“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

I had the beef Wellington appetizer as an entree and my husband had the sweetbreads, both were excellent. The Oregon "Bone Dry" Reisling was the best Reisling we have had outside Germany. The Creme Brulee was very good too. Definitley recommend eating here.

“Good, but inconsistent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

Sometimes the food here is to die for, and sometimes it looks really good, sounds really good on the menu, and is just okay (but still head and shoulders above the usual restaurant).

“Special dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

We ate here the first night in Ashland. It was a lovely setting with a nice menu selection. Our first waiter had to attend to other diners, so the second waiter took over. He wasn't as experienced or as attentive at the first. The bruchetta scallops appetizer was wonderful. I had the pork chop which was delicious. My husband had the guinea fowl which was a little chewy. Both soups were excellent. The dining room manager/waiter was excellent and handled an unhappy diner with utter grace to make things right. We will return on our next trip.

“A delightful meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

They serve superb cuisine here. We had the crostini and beef Wellington appetizers, both very tasty. Salmon was nicely prepared and the short ribs were delicious. The goat cheese dessert with grilled nectarines and berries was fantastic. The wine list here offers exceptional selections of Oregon Pinot noirs and other varietals-- it is eclectic and creative. Overall a great meal!

“Great service, disappointing food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

After reading several reviews, we decided to try Winchester Inn for dinner. We had originally booked an outside table but it was about 95 degrees and too warm for an evening outside. The hostess was wonderful and offered us a nice table inside. Our waiter was attentive and helpful in explaining the menu and our service was prompt. The only down side was that the food fell just a bit short of our expectations. The salmon tartar was fine but somewhat uninteresting. I had the green goddess salad and it was fine also but bland. The scallops were perfectly cooked but too salty to eat. Our waiter replaced them with equally salty ones. He offered to comp us a dessert but we declined. The service was truly excellent but I felt the food fell a but short.
