“Affordable, friendly, waffles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

Every time we go to Ashland, we stay at the Econo Lodge, and every time, it's a plain but satisfying experience.

We usually check in quite late, and have never had trouble doing so. Our rooms are neat, temperate, and large enough to fit our family of four quite comfortably. You can adventure across the marsh to the Burger King for late-night sustenance.

The drive into Ashland is a short 10 minutes, and the hotel is located right off the highway for easy on/off access when arriving and leaving.

Oh, and the free breakfast each morning includes waffles. Waffles, I say! It's a nice place.

This place is not expensive but still too pricey for what you get. Rooms are not very spacious, and cleaning could be better. Staff is not very representative but on the other hand, they are friendly. Breakfast is very basic.
It´s OK for one night but for a longer stay I would not stay here again.

For the traveller on the I-5 this hotel offers a location close to the highway exit in Ashland. The price is modest, and the overall impression at first glance is that the premises are well maintained. The room was spacious, offered a large fridge, microwave and coffee maker, so it looked like a comfortable place to get some rest. The furnishings were very nice and new. From all those aspects this Econo Lodge would merit a rating of "4",but at second glance not everything was well . We were finding a garbage can in our room can that had not been emptied, and there was hair on the bedsheets(??). It is hard to find an excuse for these shortcomings, especially since the hotel was not fully booked but only occupied by 8 parties, when we stayed there.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the I-5

I booked this room for a three night stay in Ashland to get my daughter settled into Southern Oregon University. I wanted something economical and clean. This Econolodge seemed to fit the bill based on the reviews but the reality was very different. The bed was very uncomfortable, holes in the blanket, broken door handles, and only one light in the room worked. The new mini fridge was a nice touch but why no hairdryer in the room? The Continental breakfast was a hypoglycemic nightmare with limited choices and no protein, not even peanut butter or yogurt. The man replenishing the breakfast was surly and the room (and I assume the kitchen) was shabby and not very clean. At $80 a night, the Econolodge in Ashland is no bargain!

We booked late & couldn't get into any of the recommended places, and didn't want to spend $150 for just 1 night. When we booked, we asked for their quietest room, and they gave us room #232 - top floor at the back, on the corner. We liked it so much we arranged to stay there again on our way back!

While the hotel is near the freeway, room 232 is on the back side, on the corner, so it's completely quiet -- no road noise, no people ever passed our windows - and it has windows on 2 sides, one of which actually opens, so we could get fresh air in the room. It also has nice views over an empty field to the mountains around Ashland.

The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. It had everything we needed - small fridge, ironing board. Some rooms have microwaves, this one didn't.

On our way back, #232 was full so they put us in #233 - also quiet, same clean spacious room layout, also quiet, but just one window that didn't open, so no fresh air. I would definitely stay here again if I want a room in Ashland for less than $100. There is just one other room on the top floor back at the corner, but it's long side faces the freeway so I imagine it's not as quiet.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back, away from the freeway. #232 is on the corner and has a window that open...

We had ants in the first room that they put us in, then they moved us to another room and that room had yellow sheets and holes in our blankets. The tiles in the walkway/hallway were broken, the covers over the stairs were stained due to leaks, and the breakfast room was dirty. The waffle maker was corroded. We should have went down the road, but we drove with little children and they were really tired.

Ordinary room but conveniently located motel, comfortable, quiet, and very cheap. We were driving a car and a rental truck. The large parking lot in front of the motel was handy for us.

It's easy to miss the sign for the motel from I-5 going south. From the stop sign at the end of the exit, you turn right and make another immediate right to get to the motel.
