“A solid bet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

This was my third time staying at the Plaza Inn and, as usual, it is a solid bet. Pretty much every request was met quickly and efficiently. I will say that the staff tends to stay behind their desk a lot. It IS expensive. I was there to see plays during their busy season, and they wouldn't even give a AAA discount because of this (grrr). Still, it is clean, comfortable, sits on the creek, and is close to theaters. Breakfast is about what you would expect without them having an actual restaurant. There are pre-made omelets, and cups of batter for making your own waffle. The coffee is good, and it's enough to hold one through to an early dinner before a play.

Room Tip: This time we were in the rooms suitable for pets and the dag-blamed garbage truck woke us super earl...

The staff was just so-so. The room was ok. The breakfast buffet was mediocre. The location was ok, but not great. AND, it cost $200+ a night!!!!

I'm sorry, but Ashland just isn't worth $200.00 per night. And the Plaza Inn is absolutely not worth $200+ per night! Not even close!

This hotel (motel?) is far from any number of hotels, Inns, B&B's (Think Hyatt or Marriott) that offer accommodations and amenities that might actually warrant 2-bills.

This hotel (Oops! Sorry! "Inn & Suites!) isn't even in the running. How it got to be #3 in Ashland is beyond me!! I guess it just speaks volumes about what passes for quality there! We'll go to Grant's Pass next time.

First, I always book rooms directly through hotel. I do not like reservation services or on-line travel agents. When I made the reservation, it seemed to be through a neutral sounding service. When we checked in, I was told we had made the reservation through Expedia. Too late to do anything about that. But not only did I find out that Expedia places, many restrictions on reservations, such as no room changes at all. This is where we had a problem. Although the hotel lobby was nicely appointed, it wasn't in our path. We did notice that many rooms had lovely views of a path along a creek. We, however were put in the outpost. Their was no elevator, and because of some recovering health issues. Further, the hotel accepts dogs, which is okay, unless you have an allergy to animal dander, which is a slight problem for my husband. Latee he explained that was probably why he was a bit stuffed up.

We paid a very significant price for the room, and needless to say we might not stay there again. Too many non-disclosures. I feel a bit ripped off. They do serve a breakfast, but it is enough to fend off hunger only. Since we stayed only stayed one night, we blew it off. But beware, you may not get what you think you paid for.

Room Tip: Ask lots of questions about room. Try to deal directly with hotel

The Plaza is elegant and convenient. We attend the Oregon Shakespearean Festival plays at least twice a year and have been going for 42 years. We discovered the Plaza because it was recommended to us by family members. It is expensive, but if you enjoy a lovely place and if you want to be within walking distance of everything (and if you love a good night's sleep in a comfy bed) you will love the Plaza.

My wife and I stayed here for a week in a spa suite at the end of June while attending OSF. The beds were very nice, and the staff was attentive. It is very conveniently located to OSF and downtown Ashland, with a path along Ashland Creek. The evening snack is a very nice touch, allowing late night theater attendees to join together in the hospitality room and discuss that nights play while enjoying cookies, milk, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Breakfast is served each morning as well and was very good (though staying there for a week, it started to get boring). Eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, fruit, oatmeal were among the choices each day. The only improvement would be for the hotel to have lounge chairs outside in addition to the tables and chairs.

Room Tip: Spa or Executive suites are near the creek.

First the bad news. You will pay more here than you will four a four star hotel in Seattle, but you will not get four star service. You get Holiday Inn Express service. You do get a hot breakfast. You also get some meager and disappointing snacks at 5PM and 9.

The good news is location. Easy walk to OSF, and it's downhill when you finish the day. The rooms are big and clean. Many have nice views of a park.

Room Tip: Some rooms in the basement open on to the creek.

So glad we stop by to ask if they had a room for the night. We didn't plan to stay in Ashland, but after driving through we couldn't resist an overnighter to explore the town a bit more. We paid $219. Parking is free and free wifi. Had Fun shopping and spent way more money than we should have, but it was great to come back after a day out and relax on the very spacious deluxe room with a king bed micro, coffee, fridge and a nice balcony with two chairs. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. We were in the cascade bldg. which is the pet friendly rooms, no elevator, but just a short flight of steps less than 20 steps. There is plenty of hotel parking. All the front desk staff girls were friendly, and helpful. They have a wonderful lobby and I enjoyed seating there to read. Snack of beverages, crackers and a cheese spread. They also have a snack again from 10-midnight. Free continental breakfast. Great location at the beginning of main street. I would love to stay again and plan to tell my family and friends
