We have been to the festival twice. On this trip we saw the Taming of the Shrew, King Lear, My Fair Lady and the Unfortunates. The latter was a pleasant surprise as it was a new script. It was a 90 minute musical with rappers and it was funny, tragic and wonderfully performed. King Lear made three hours seem like nothing, Theater in the round magnificently acted. We all loved the Taming of the Shrew which was done in a modern setting with music. After the performance we listened to the lead describe her participation in response to questions from students. There is no doubt that the audience of very enthusiastic students made the show more enjoyable for us seniors. The only disappointment was My Fair Lady. In contrast to King Lear the play was too long though very well staged. The second act needs some serious cutting. A trip to the festival should be on everyone's list!
