“Good, clean fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2012

This place is a perfect spot to get away. We stayed in unit 4, which is equipped with a cozy living room, with squashy chairs, couches, and good board games, a fire place and a TV. The kitchen has sufficient amenities for a long weekend, and even a week or longer stay. There are extra beds in the living room, too. the bedroom, with the captain bed is small but with all the other space in the unit, this is not a problem. The headboard is really cool, wrap-around style and the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is what kept us from rating this place as excellent. It is super tiny - my 6'3'' husband could not really navigate the shower easily. Luckily, we could bypass the shower for him because we only stayed for the weekend. The place is very quiet and a short walk from a very good, small beach. Arch Cape is one of our favorite get-aways for Oregon, especially compared to touristy Cannon Beach or crowded/sprawling Lincoln City. You are close to many beautiful places here, hiking spots, clamming, etc. We liked cooking in and eating by the fireplace (there is also a grill available if that is what you want) but restaurants are close-by in Cannon Beach, and across the street there is a fancy place, called Arch Cape Inn and Retreat (very confusing, as their names are similar and they are right across the street from each other). We will review the fancy inn in a different review, but its relevance here is to mention that if you want something fancy but not far away (and you don't mind paying for it), you can just cross the street. The Inn at the Arch Cape is also a great value for the money, and you can bring your dog too in some of the units. True Oregon. Recommend it.

The first time I ever visited the coast in the Northwest I stayed at the Inn at Arch Cape. My husband and I wanted to check out the beauty that is out there. Inn at Arch Cape was great! Beautiful and serene property grounds. We were very lucky to be the only ones staying there at that time. We loved the wood burning fireplace, but being city slickers we had a hard time starting the fire. It was great being able to cook dinner in the kitchen because the restaurants are located in Cannon Beach which is a drive. Location was great because the beach was within a short walking distance. Travelling to Cannon Beach and the surrounding areas was a haul at times. Be careful on the roads at night! We couldn't have asked for more while staying at the Inn, it was comfortable and just like home. Highly recommended and we will be back!

Room Tip: Book during the shoulder low season September/October for a quiet experience.

If you have ever visited Cannon Beach you know how packed with tourists it gets. That's why we love staying here at the Inn at Arch Cape. It's close enough to eat in Cannon Beach and far enough away that you feel like you are getting away from a city. The rooms are lovely, and a wood burning fireplace is the best! We stayed in room 3 which was a wonderful set up. We played scrabble and drank wine in front of the fireplace. Then too walks on the beach each morning. The beach was all ours too. Not a person in sight. We have stayed in multiple rooms here and have yet to be disappointed. The lovely garden in front blocks the traffic just fine.

We stayed in unit #1, a very nice cottage. The cottage is very nicely designed...rustic, good quality. Cedar paneling, slate shower stall and floor, fireplace. Such a comfortable place. It also is a good location near two beautiful places: Oswald State Park and the Ecola State Park near Cannon Beach. We really enjoyed the place. But, the services leave a little to be desired. We were there 3 nights, but didn't get laundry and housecleaning. Maybe just an oversight, but annoying. Also, I think the price is a bit high for when we were there (Oct.9-12).

Room Tip: the rooms (units) vary in size greatly. ask carefully about each one.

My husband and I recently returned from a road trip in Oregon that involved a variety of overnight accommodations. We could not have been more pleased with our beach stay at The Inn at Arch Cape. Admittedly, we were not pleased with the room that we originally booked. It was fairly small and there was a lot of traffic noise, and the room would not have been comfortable for us over a three-day period. However, I called Patty, the property manager, and she immediately offered us another room (#5), which did not face the road and was much larger (separate bedroom and living area with fireplace). The rate was higher than we had originally anticipated, but again, Patty was extremely accommodating and offered us a reduced rate that was more than acceptable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very quaint inn, in our very clean, comfortably furnished and cozy cottage suite, just a very short walk to the beach. It was a perfect way to end our vacation. We hope to visit Oregon again and would definitely plan another visit at The Inn at Arch Cape. P.S. We understand that the owners are aware of the traffic noise and plan to install storm windows soon to resolve the problem.

Room Tip: Ask if storm windows have been installed for rooms facing road. If so, those rooms would be fine...

My mom was visiting us in Portland, and we made a last minute decision to spend a night at the coast. Turns out that with two yellow labs, three adults and 26 hours advance notice, this isn't the easiest thing to book on a busy weekend. In fact, most hotels along Cannon Beach were either completely full, wasn't pet friendly, couldn't accommodate three adults in one room/suite, or would not take a single night booking. About 40 calls later, we were ready to give up.

The Inn At Arch Cape doesn't traditionally take single night bookings, but as they fit all our other criteria, they asked us to call back the day before and said they would sell us the room for a single Saturday night if it hadn't booked by then. Sure enough, they lived up to their word, and off we went. This is a self-check-in property (you call the desk, they give you the key code) but when we arrived, a staffer was actually on hand and showed us into and around our huge suite. It was three times the size we had hoped, with a wood burning fireplace, cozy couches, a full kitchenette, and very thoughtful/helpful dog baskets prepared for the labs. We stayed in room 3, which has one large full bedroom and a separate alcove off the living room with bunk beds, which was perfect for our needs. Everyone got to have their privacy, without paying for two rooms.

Everything was very, very clean (especially considering it was a pet friendly property) and charming. A lot of small touches made it really nice, like little pieces of saltwater taffy on the table, library of books and board games in the living room, firewood at the ready, and all the kitchen amenities. I think it would be even better in the summer when we could have used the back garden, front outdoor deck/grill, and fire pit, but it rained pretty hard all weekend, so we built a fire. It was close to the beach and we had the beach to ourselves when we were brave enough to try it in the rain.

Staff could not have been friendlier, more professional or accommodating. We asked for early check in, late check out and neither were a problem.

The only negatives: From our bedroom, we could hear the people in the other rooms to the point where we could hear their entire conversations (at 5:45am on a Sunday) and it made it difficult to impossible to sleep in. I would think some additional insulation would solve that problem. Also, the bedroom door doesn't latch, there's no way to keep it fully shut.

There is a note by the fireplace that says to only use two logs in the fire to avoid smoking up the room, and we followed that advice, but the rooms still smoked up and set off the alarm several times. We had to keep all the windows open-not a problem in nice weather to do so, but it was cold, windy and pouring. So firestarters beware. Again, in nicer weather might just be better to use fire pit and outdoor grill, both of which looked lovely. Also, the brochures and parking spaces (love the dedicated parking spaces for each room) are easy to read and branded super cute, but the sign out front by Hwy 101 is small/old and it makes it easy to sail right by. But all in all, these problems were tiny and solvable (except for the noise) and our clean, charming and friendly stay was so memorable. We will be back and will stay longer next time. I won't stay on the busy strip in Cannon Beach anymore knowing I can have this peaceful retreat for the same price just a few miles down 101.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3 and it was super cozy and lovely, but noisy in the early morning. You also have...

We appreciate the postive comments from these guests. One of the pleasures of owning the Inn at Arch Cape is meeting guests and hearing the positve comments about their stay. Inn at Arch Cape is a classic Oregon Coast lodging property and we try to make guests (and their pets) as comfortable as possible.

We have a "quiet hours" policy. We apologize for the early morning noise from the guests in the adjacent room. We encourage guests who are having any problems to call our "after hours" number so we can take care of the issue.

Owning an historic property means constantly keeping up with the little things. Thanks for the heads up about adding a latch on the bedroom room door. Easily installed!

Unit 3 has 2 ways to access: from the east side through our lush perennial garden with no steps & from the west side by the parking lot and up one flight of steps.

We are sorry the fireplace got smokey. Our wood is very dry and seasoned. Sometimes, after the kindling catches fire and the flue gets nice and hot, it may only take just one log to give guests a nice fire.

Thank you again for staying with us at the Inn at Arch Cape.

We had a wonderful stay! The room was spotless and lovely. The back garden was beautiful and we loved the fire pit. The mattress on the queen bed was not comfortable ( we slept on the couch instead) but other than that everything was perfect!
