Located off the Afton exit of the Will Rodgers Turnpike (Hwy. 44) to the northeast of Afton, Oklahoma. Exit the turnpike and head south, motel is located at junction of hwys. 69/60 and 59. Bear right at the "Y" and it will be on your right.
Google Maps incorrectly places this motel down in Copeland (many miles to the south), and if you search by address you will be routed about 3 miles north of the turnpike. It is possible that Google is trying to do us a favor.
Location- pretty much the middle of nowhere. There is a fairly new Conoco across the road with decent prices on fuel, and a little cafe across the parking lot. This is not a destination for travelers, this is somewhere to get fuel or a nights sleep if you are in desperate need.
Parking for cars, motorcycles, and light trucks, but no parking on grounds for larger vehicles and vehicles with trailers. If you are in a larger vehicle or vehicle with a trailer, you can park in the southwest corner of the cafe's parking lot, but don't block the Dumpster.
Rustic. Inexpensive. Borderline cleanliness, bathroom less-so. Beds standard motel-issue, bedding reasonably presentable. Carpeting well past it's expiration date. There were tiny, wiggling, antenna sticking out from beneath the cove molding in the bathroom and I am pretty sure it wasn't Homeland Security. Sleep quality would have probably been better were it not for the aforementioned wiggling antenna.
On a positive note, we were able to sleep horizontally rather than semi-vertically (in our vehicles), and we didn't bring anything home that we didn't intend to bring home.
Joplin is 45 minutes east on 44. Tulsa is 90 minutes west. Consider it.
