I stayed at this hotel for only one night with my teenage daughter in June of 2007. It is still a Comfort Inn after all, so don't expect a lot of extra service/luxury. BUT...if Alliance is where you need to hang your hat...you get a lot for a little.
A friend referred me, and another friend had referred her. (We all needed to be in the area for horse shows/camps). It was 30 minutes from our destination, but the closer hotels were...I'll say it..."dumps!".
This hotel is in the best location in this area of Ohio. The nearby towns have nothing on Alliance. No matter what basics you might discover that you forgot...you can get it within walking distance of this hotel. There is a Walmart SuperCenter (which includes Grocery), a Lowe's, a Tractor Supply (hey, don't laugh...we horsey people love that!), plenty of gas stations, moderate sit-down restaurants such as Applebees, and lots of fast food.
The hotel is also physically connected to a small shopping mall. I've NEVER seen that before. Because it's in the mall, it has TONS of parking, so it's great for semi tractor-trailers (and they know a good thing when they see it, the parking lot was full of them).
The pool/whirlpool looked very clean and well kept. The breakfast was typical but plentiful and the serving room was very clean. Elevators worked but were just a teensy bit slow. Oh...and the hotel is "pet friendly"! $10 night is a great deal to take your pet with you.
I also put my daughter there for a few nights, so I paid a variety of rates ranging from $76 to $90 per room per night. They do offer a AAA discount. Our room selections were rooms with 2 double beds, or a king bed plus sofabed.
When we checked in, about 11:00pm, our air conditioning would not turn on and they sent someone up IMMEDIATELY. He could not fix it and went down to get us a key to a new room. But it started working while he was gone! However, it never did keep the room very cool. Also, the lock on the door was very "shaky". But we threw the dead bolt and felt safer. The worst part was that it was VERY VERY noisy. Even at midnight we could hear moderate volume conversations in the parking lot (we were on the side with the parking lot, 2nd floor). And we could hear all the semi trucks starting up early in the morning.
But the front desk was helpful in several different ways, and always courteous. The room was average size, carpet moderately clean (some stains), linens clean, plenty of towels, one small shampoo, hairdryer, coffeemaker. As with all hotels, had some trouble finding available and convenient electrical outlets to charge things. Beds were not the MOST comfortable I've ever slept in (I actually slept VERY little due to the noise...but that's just me...I don't travel well), but they were comfy enough.
All in all, I'd consider it "a lot for a little".
