Although the staff (when you could actually find one) was friendly, the overall quality of this hotel was far below we expected. Staff was scarce, so most areas are not monitored for cleanliness. Customers walked around the breakfast area in bare feet. Children stood on the stairs of the pool and peed straight into the water. The pool changing rooms were disgustingly dirty and
the pool floor, itself, was covered in slime. The hotel has a lot of "cosmetic issues". Tiles were missing, floors unswept, mildew in areas, and a "pet area" just outside the entrance to the hotel that didn't appear to be cleaned very often. The doors to the hotel and pool were opened at all times and no staff was present to prevent just anyone from walking into the hotel/swim area at any time. Breakfast foods were cold and stale, with nowhere near enough seats in the dining area for all the guests. Other reviews of this hotel led us to believe it was a great deal for the money... what a disappointment!

Our recent stay in Alliance, OH was great!! The hotel is located behind the connected mall. It was weird (but safe) driving through an empty mall parking lot to get to the hotel at night. There are plenty of restaurants around. We checked in late, and the woman behind the desk was the best! She was most helpful, like all hotel staff should be. The room and hallway did not smell like smoke at all. Our room was large and spacious. It had a king bed and a sofa bed, perfect for three people. I tried out the sofa bed, and, like most sofa beds, it was not comfortable at all. It was a good thing I had my aero bed. The bathroom had a massaging shower head and a heat lamp. The wireless internet worked fine. There is also a computer with internet in the lobby. The pool and hot tub looked great, but we did not have time to enjoy it. This hotel has express checkout, so our receipt was under our door in the morning... no front desk visit needed. The free breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had. They had fresh fruit, hot eggs, sausage, hash browns... you name it. I was very impressed by this hotel and I hope I stay again.

We recently stayed at the Comfort Inn Alliance while visiting family in the area. The area itself does not have much to offer, and therefore lodging choices are limited. We did not choose this hotel (and probably wouldn't have, as I am wary of Comfort Inn's), but family booked it for us.

I was actually more impressed with the hotel than I thought I would be. Hotel staff were very kind and helpful. The free breakfast in the morning was nice (donuts, juice, coffee, eggs & potatoes, make your own waffles, apples, etc). I wish they would have had more fruit selections, but that's typical for free hotel breakfasts. We didn't visit the pool, but it looked like it would be fun. Our room seemed pretty clean, dated some, but I wasn't expecting much. The area was pretty quiet, which was very helpful for our sleeping infant daughter. I also appreciated the free wireless internet, which allowed me to get work done while we were away. The "mall" the Comfort Inn is connected to is a JOKE! I have NEVER seen anything that small! It's indicative of the area, though, as many businesses seemed to be either not doing well or closed down.

For the first few nights of our stay in our non-smoking room, there was a teeny bit of smoke smell in the room that went away after a second of being inside (we are VERY sensitive to cigarette smoke)... by the bed it was pretty clear, but a little more heavy near the connecting door. We realized why this was the last night of our stay - the connecting room was a smoking room! Of course, the last night of our stay, someone was in that connecting room just smoking away! We covered the door with towels which helped some, and it wasn't extreme (we stayed the night, and left in the morning), but it did seem weird to me that the connecting room was smoking when ours was clearly non-smoking. Even more weird was the fact that down the hall was the same scenario, a non-smoking and smoking room connection (and I'm certain those weren't the only rooms like that, I just didn't investigate them all). It would make MUCH more sense to make the smoking rooms connect to each other and the non-smoking rooms connect to other non-smoking rooms. I don't get what they were thinking.

Anyway, I wouldn't choose to stay here again, but if I needed to, it would be okay.

We stayed here this past weekend to visit friends in the area and for a Comfort Inn is was pretty nice. The have added some new items to the room during a remodel, the pool is clean and the staff was friendly. The mall is small, but has inexpensive movies and is quiet and safe. We ordered pizza from a great place the locals raved about called EAST OF CHICAGO and had the best some of the best pizza we have ever tasted. Overall the stay was comfortable, it was a bit noisy when people returned at night (we go to bed early) but other than that it was great! Kudos!

“"A lot for a little"”

Comfort Inn

Jun 11, 2007

I stayed at this hotel for only one night with my teenage daughter in June of 2007. It is still a Comfort Inn after all, so don't expect a lot of extra service/luxury. BUT...if Alliance is where you need to hang your hat...you get a lot for a little.

A friend referred me, and another friend had referred her. (We all needed to be in the area for horse shows/camps). It was 30 minutes from our destination, but the closer hotels were...I'll say it..."dumps!".

This hotel is in the best location in this area of Ohio. The nearby towns have nothing on Alliance. No matter what basics you might discover that you forgot...you can get it within walking distance of this hotel. There is a Walmart SuperCenter (which includes Grocery), a Lowe's, a Tractor Supply (hey, don't laugh...we horsey people love that!), plenty of gas stations, moderate sit-down restaurants such as Applebees, and lots of fast food.

The hotel is also physically connected to a small shopping mall. I've NEVER seen that before. Because it's in the mall, it has TONS of parking, so it's great for semi tractor-trailers (and they know a good thing when they see it, the parking lot was full of them).

The pool/whirlpool looked very clean and well kept. The breakfast was typical but plentiful and the serving room was very clean. Elevators worked but were just a teensy bit slow. Oh...and the hotel is "pet friendly"! $10 night is a great deal to take your pet with you.

I also put my daughter there for a few nights, so I paid a variety of rates ranging from $76 to $90 per room per night. They do offer a AAA discount. Our room selections were rooms with 2 double beds, or a king bed plus sofabed.

When we checked in, about 11:00pm, our air conditioning would not turn on and they sent someone up IMMEDIATELY. He could not fix it and went down to get us a key to a new room. But it started working while he was gone! However, it never did keep the room very cool. Also, the lock on the door was very "shaky". But we threw the dead bolt and felt safer. The worst part was that it was VERY VERY noisy. Even at midnight we could hear moderate volume conversations in the parking lot (we were on the side with the parking lot, 2nd floor). And we could hear all the semi trucks starting up early in the morning.

But the front desk was helpful in several different ways, and always courteous. The room was average size, carpet moderately clean (some stains), linens clean, plenty of towels, one small shampoo, hairdryer, coffeemaker. As with all hotels, had some trouble finding available and convenient electrical outlets to charge things. Beds were not the MOST comfortable I've ever slept in (I actually slept VERY little due to the noise...but that's just me...I don't travel well), but they were comfy enough.

All in all, I'd consider it "a lot for a little".
