I stayed at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn on 06/09/07 for one night while in town for a show. After reading the reviews on this site, I was ready for the worst, but I was pleasantly surprised. I found the rooms to be clean and beds very comfortable. Having never been to Akron, I thought this hotel was in a very good location to restaurants, the mall, and a straight drive to downtown Akron. I did not have any of the problems some of the other reviewers had. Also, the Check In and Check Out were extremely fast and easy. I had no problems.

I've stayed at the Fairlawn Hilton several times during business travel. Each experience has been poor. I won't be going back since I’ve threatened to fire my assistant if she puts me there again! The overall cleanliness of the rooms is terrible. It's been a long time since any of the bathrooms had a good scrubbing. There is almost always hair on the bathroom floor, in the shower, on the counters, in the sink, etc. The desk is usually filthy. Sometimes the trash cans smell pretty bad. The marble floors in the entry way and bathroom are filthy. There is a build up of dust and hair in most of the corners and the base of the walls.

The last time I checked in, I was treated to a dirty washcloth sitting in the corner by the bed. I shudder to think what that was used for. I didn’t touch it. Also, the walls are paper thin. During my last stay, I was treated to the sounds of an elderly couple having sex in the next room. The walls are so thin I could hear their "excited breathing" along with host of other "excited sounds." Actually, that sums up the clientele of Fairlawn Hilton pretty well: Old and horny. Once you stay there, you'll see what I mean. The bar is full of late 40's folks and older looking to "hook-up." Puke. It’s funny that one of the other reviewers mentioned “stains.” That reviewer is correct, stains are all over the rooms: chairs, benches, foot stool, etc.

The internet connection is very unreliable. It didn’t work at all during one of my 3 day stays.

The restaurant isn’t bad, but it is not that great. The food is overpriced for the quality. The steak is on par with the better cuts at national chain restaurants.

I could go on, but I don’t see the point. I’ll summarize: You could probably stay at the Super 8 and get a cleaner room!

We stayed at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn to attend a business meeting being held at the hotel from 5/4 - 5/6/07. Our reservation was for a suite, but upon arrival at 4 a.m. after driving for 5 hours, we were told that our reservation was for a king only and that no suites were available. We were forced to stay in the king room for one night. The room itself was okay, but the bathroom was really gross. There was a lot of hair and what appeared to be someone's scabs on the floor, and the floor was sticky - Gross. In the morning, the day manager was shown a copy of my printed confirmation for a suite. She did immediately move us to a suite, room 261, and reduced the charges for our stay. I'll give her that. The suite was reallllllly disgusting, it had a kitchenette with a grease-covered stove, diswasher, and a sticky microwave. The floors were worn and dirty. The tile in the kitchenette and bath areas was sticky, visibly stained, and crumbling apart around the toilet. There were wine bottle corks on the floor next to and behind the nighttable in the bedroom. The furnishings were old and worn and stained with God know's what. If it hadn't been for the fact that the conference we were attending was being held at the hotel, we would have left immediately. Just Gross. I can't believe that hotel is a Hilton. I may never stay at a Hilton again. There has to be a better alternative. I will say that the reception area, exterior, and common areas look nice, but the rooms I saw were awful. For your own good, stay elsewhere.

Stayed at the Hilton because it's out prefered chain. Check-in was very fast. Check-out required two trips to the desk to correct a charge on our bill.

The room was disappointly old and minimumly cleaned (instead of throughly). Although, my husband's preferences (high floor, away from elevator) were followed even though the hotel was sold out or close to it.. He made that request when we booked, though. Besides the cleanliness, our biggest complaint was that when our room was dark, light came in around the door on all sides. A lot of light.

But the bed was extremely comfortable. A little soft, but not too much so. The towels were also a little softer than most hotel towels.

We ate breakfast in the restaurant both mornings. Decent both times.

Overall, even though this hotel showed it's age, we didn't have any major complaints. We wouldn't be super excited to stay here again, but we wouldn't avoid it at all costs, either.
