We recently stayed at the Atlantis Lodge. We chose this location b/c it allowed pets and also it got many good reviews. Well, we were sadly disappointed by our stay. From the photos, the place looked pretty "retro" and had potential to be neat...well, it was definitely retro, meaning, I don't think they have put any money into repairs or renovations since the 1950s! Oh, they have added a flat screen TV, which is about it for updates. They must make a fortunate on this place and owe it to their customers to spend a little money fixing it up...i.e. replacing rotting wood; updating furniture, especially the very small double beds, which are extremely uncomfortable; painting; adding a fan to the stuffy bathroom; etc. etc. We also were disappointed in the size of the "bedroom"...we rented what we thought was a suite-like set-up, so that our baby could have the bedroom area and we could stay up past his bedtime & naptime...well, the "bedroom" only fit the small bed, and was separated from the living area by an accordian wall. The only positive thing that I can say about the Atlantis Lodge, is that it does have a very charming pool w/ waterfall and baby pool, and the ocean is a few steps away...we were having fun as long as we weren't in our room! They do offer complimentary chairs and umbrellas on the beach, which is a nice touch. But please, do some much needed renovations to the rooms!

As the General Manager of the Atlantis (and daughter of the owners A.C. and Dot Hall) I must say that we were very hurt by the harsh comments you placed on TripAdvisor recently. You knew that everyone who visited our website would see it. We have comment cards in the rooms so our guests can share their thoughts. We wish you had shared your thoughts with us rather than bashing us on our own website. Our guests, most of them repeat guests, let us know when they find something that needs repair. They don’t go on the web and intentionally try to damage our reputation. As you said in the first line of your review, you chose the Atlantis because we are pet friendly. We are the only hotel/motel on the ocean that allows pets. We also only charge $15.00 a night for a pet which is, as you well know, a great price. It costs more than that to board a pet! I was the one who spoke with Michelle to make the reservation and as she knows I allowed you to book for only 2 nights instead of 3 since you called to make the reservation 2 days before you came. Every property on the ocean requires a 3 night minimum in the summertime. I could have easily made you pay for 3 nights. Please allow me to respond to your remarks... You said the place looked like we had not put any money into repairs or renovations since the 1950’s. Not that it’s any of your business, but we spent $514,429.91 last year alone on new furniture, carpet, etc. and on major repairs. Not to mention the 2 full time maintenance men that are on payroll that do minor repairs and painting. This fall we are replacing most of the double beds with queen size beds. See, we do listen to our guests. That has been a big request that we are fulfilling. We do not have fans in our bathrooms because there are windows in all of the bathrooms. We are sorry you were disappointed in the size of the room. We have videos and photos of all of the rooms on our website so that our guests can see in advance what to expect. We are glad you liked the pool and the beach chairs. Thankfully, about 32,999 folks stayed here last year and loved us!
