We ate dinner here on 14 June 2013 while visiting Nags Head NC. The restaurant is just out of town on the Manteo Causeway right on the Albemarle sound. The restaurant is family owned and you can feel they take pride in both their establishment and what they serve. The views of the sound make you want to throw a line in the water. We were able to use the 20 percent discount if you are seated by 5 PM which is nice when the check arrives. Check out the coupon books for the coupon, it is in almost every book. It was our first visit and the menu is extensive. Matt, our waiter was very helpful is explaining both the specials and items we had questions about. I had the Stuffed Flounder with garlic mashed potatoes and salad and my wife had the SMALL portion (more about this later) blackened Mahi catch of the day, with baked potato and salad. The salads came fairly quickly and Matt, while not “hovering” was in the area monitoring us and other tables. I had the house Raspberry Vinegarette (Matt recommended). It was creamy and delicious. The salads were good size, but not excessive and with a good selection of lettuce, tomato, and other items. Soon after our salads were done, our main course arrived. My Flounder was boat dish and smothered in a creamy white sauce. I know it was stuffed because I found a tiny piece of shell! The fish was done to a turn and could not have been better. The garlic mashed potatoes came in a separate plate and had just the right amount of garlic; very well prepared for garlic mashed. My wife’s Mahi was excellent, served very hot (temperature) as was my Flounder. It was blackened just right, not overwhelmingly so, and was
done perfectly. When I emphasized SMALL is because it WAS NOT. It was probably an 8-10 ounce piece of fish about three quarters of an inch thick. I don’t know how large the regular portion is but you better be hungry. After this great meal, we were both too full for dessert, but they looked scrumptious. I would recommend this place if you are interested in moderately priced (for the beach) seafood and a pleasurable dining experience.
