We choose this B&B because we found out we could take our dogs, and thought it was a good idea. Next time I will leave them home. The owner lived outside the house, which is fine, except you NEVER saw her. She had a chef come in and cook, so it was more like a restaurant for breakfast, where I prefer the family feel of a B&B. I want to come down to a table and talk and relax, and here, we had separate tables and no one talked. The room itself was ok, but nothing stood out in my mind as being excellent, I will not go back. The grounds were pretty.

In 2008, I did hire a part-time Chef 2-3 days a week to assist with large groups and to add some additional flair to the guest experience (she taught cooking classes, cooked Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners as well). In 2009, I am back to doing everything myself so all guests get to meet me during their stay. While I do not live in the main house, I live in the Carriage House across the parking lot and am available should a guest need anything.

Blake House is lucky enough to have 2 large dining rooms with seating for 60 people. When I first started 4 years ago, I did have communal dining so that guests could sit together and talk. However, the biggest complaint I received was that guests preferred to sit at separate tables, so I moved to this method of dining. Tables are close so guests can (and do) talk to each other all the time and sometimes choose to share tables. It's a shame this guest did not experience this.
I appreciate the comment about the grounds as I have worked very hard to build them up and it's a continual process. We have multiple places inside and outside for guests to sit and relax (hammock on the front porch, gazebo on the lower patio, Parlor with seating for 8, and more).
We love having guests bring their pets and offer dog walking services and 5 pet friendly rooms.
We are always looking to improve and hope to have addressed any concerns.
