“Well Kept Park with Amenities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2014

For the past two years, we have stopped for a night at Poplar Point, Jordan Lake while traveling and found it a restful and very nicely kept park with hookups to charge our van while dry camping elsewhere. We saw a full complement of families enjoying the lake in all types of crafts, and we tested our inflatable kayak with complete success. We'll definitely visit again when we are in the area. Make sure to reserve if you select the reservation-only loops, and note the 2-night weekend minimum.

“Wonderful Camping over Easter Weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

We stayed at Cross Winds for Easter Weekend with five other families. We enjoyed camping on the lake with a small beach within walking distance. The kids enjoyed the water, kayaking, and riding their bikes around the campground. The sites are spacious, with plenty of room and trees between them. The sites are gravel and have a large pad with light post, fire ring/grill, and picnic table. The sites were clear of debris when we arrived. Water and electric we easily accessible. Trash cans were located every few sites and emptied twice each day. The roads through all three loops were well paved and a boat launch is available near the campground. The bath house was close to our sites and well lit. They were cleaned daily, but got messy toward the evening with heavy use. The showers were warm, with a push button access. We enjoyed our stay at Cross Winds and will return. It was convenient, clean, and fun for the entire family.

“NC Nature at its best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

We have been going to Jordan Lake State Recreation area since 2004, for swimming, fishing, boating, camping, and relaxation. The staff keeps the areas clean, with average restroom facilities. The natural setting is wonderful, with the possibility to see many types of wildlife. During the week can be very peaceful with many areas of the lake all to yourself. The weekends can be busy as would be expected, however there are lots of facilities to handle busy weekends.

“Relax!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2014

Large multiple area recreation site at very large lake. Excellent public boat ramps. Great picnic areas in a variety of settings. Small nature center with some exhibits. I've used this rec area for bicycle outings. I haven't used the public beaches...they look nice but don't know the 'feel' of the sand or shallow bottom area of the lake.

“Only lake we got”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

The lake is man made and if you are used to Northern deep blue lakes it is not pretty. On the other hand you can see eagle nests, eagles soaring and fish. It's warm and the beaches are full in the summer.
