“Good but needs more attention...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

I think this hotel is over rated. It was recommned to us by many friends. The location of the hotel is great and the views are stunning if you want to be away from everything. The beach is beautiful and overall the personnel is motivated to help. However, although the hotel is only six years old it needs an upgrade at least in the reception and inside sitting area. It already looks out of date and old. The rooms are okay but not luxurious. There are basically three restaurants Saigon (Asian Fusion), La Luce (Italian) and the beach restaurant which focused on fish and sea food. Our favorite was the "La Luce" the setting and the views are simply unique. The food is good but definetely over priced. It is even more expensive than some of the top restaurants in Istanbul! The same applies to Saigon. No wonder we did not see any Turkish people dining at any of these restaurants. The main problem with this hotel is that it positions itself as a high end resort but falls short on profesional management team. The personnel is very motivated but lacks professional training. There are other high end hotels in Bodrum and with the new openings which are planned in the coming years this hotel will stay behind if the management does not take things more seriously. It has great potential to be a very good hotel but what makes a great location is the people after all.

It's the hotel for couple during their romantic period. The beach is very far from the main building, the choice of meal is very poor at the buffet dining. If you have a child with you, you' ll have no possibility to visit the Italian restaurant la Luce. My child is 5 years old and we visit very often restaurants of haut cuisine but not in this hotel. I asked managers about this strange policy for the hotel where 80% clients are whith children but no comments. Dining in the main restaurant is an adventure: you should queue to have grilled chicken. And no fish in 5 star hotel near the sea in the main restaurant.
Housekeeping comes just in time, when you decided to go sleep. After 2 weeks they didn't examined our schedule.
No territory to walk.
In bodrum Rixos is the best hotel.

Room Tip: Suites are ok

Dear Guest,

We thank you very much for having taken the time to write your comments regarding your recent stay with us.

We regret to read that you were not fully satisfied and have shared your comments with the concerned department heads.

Children are very welcome in our hotel and we have just upgraded their experience in our property for this season with additional Kids Club activities, improved Kids Restaurant, sailing and diving lessons at the beach, new welcome amenities and personalized welcome letter.

In order to preserve a relaxing and quiet atmosphere for guests travelling without children, one section at the beach and La Luce Restaurant do not allow children. We thank you for your understanding.

Your valuable comments allow us to constantly question ourselves and further improve the quality of our services and products.

Yours sincerely,

Simon Schenk

I stayed at the hotel in May when the summer season had not started so the hotel was quiet which my wife and I preferred. I notified the hotel before my trip that I was a GHA Black Card Member which meant I would be offered a Double upgrade. As soon as I get to the hotel I was put into a small standard room. I rang reception and they were not very helpful until we met a lovely young man called Emrah. He went out of his way to provide such outstanding service. The rest of the reception team need to learn from him.

When we got upgraded to a superior room my first feeling is this is a small room. The amount of money you pay does not justify it. On the last night I was intrigued to see what a Junior suite would be like and that was way better so something to consider.

The food served at the hotel especially breakfast was excellent full of choice and as it was not summer season the other restaurant were not open so we only had dinner once at the hotel and that was very romantic at Saigon Club. The table outside overseeing the lovely sea and the moon shine.

We also visited the restaurant which other members have suggested which is run by a local family. I can not remember the name but they come and pick you up from the hotel just let the concierge know.

We visited the Spa which was outstanding and my wife being 4 months pregnant it was nice to see they had massage catering for her.

The swimming pool is big and no problems fighting for the sunbeds in May.

I would recommend booking your transfer with a local company called Bodrum Transfer. They were efficient and very cheap. We even hired them for the day to take us out on a tour around Bodrum and surrounding areas.

Overall, the hotel is romantic but only if you stay in a suite and there are no ants in your room.

Room Tip: I would recommend staying in a suite.

Dear Guest,

It is with pleasure that we were reading your kind comments regarding your stay with us earlier this year.

Your feedback is essential for our organisation because it helps us to constantly improve our services and products.

We are pleased to learn that you enjoyed your stay at our hotel. Please accept our apologies for the confusion at your arrival regarding the booked room type. If hotel occupancy allows it, we are very happy to offer upgrades to GHA Black Card holders like you. Unfortunately, this additional service is not guaranteed and cannot always be given.

I also kindly inform you that the name of the restaurant you are recommending is 'Ciftlik Garden', one of my personal favorites, too.

We hope having the pleasure of welcoming you soon again in Bodrum.

Yours sincerely,

Simon Schenk

We had a great time together. The view, quiet room by the pool and the pool itself ,beach and venue are fantastic but the hotel is overpriced, the service a somewhat obsequious and in my opinion over rated. We stayed 7 nights perhaps too long as 4 or 5 plenty.Go half board as no nearby restaurants, stock up with fresh fruit during breakfast for the rest of the day-far too hot to eat lunch.Breakfast was fantastic...orange juice with ice sublime and the eggs especially scrambled fab.Fantastic gym and spa-amazing massages. The TVs in the rooms are pathetically small and so disappointing as we wanted to watch the London Olympics but you could barely see the picture on the TV from the bed and the beds are a wee bit hard. The best in house restaurants are the Italian and seafood Barbarossa on the Beach-great fresh fish-adult only beach area excellent.Day trip to Ephesus is an absolute must...far better than Pompeii! In house car expensive but worth it or else bus from Bodrum at 0730!The "games room" was a disgrace....no cue tips on the pool tables, table tennis bats broken and in woeful condition despite numerous attempts to get them fixed

Room Tip: Must be ocean facing room.Air conditioning on 18 degrees to sleep in the room August as 40+ during t...

We were there for 9 nights which was not enough to enjoy all the facilities . The food is incredible (grill restaurant at the beach is the best! ) , there's nothing too much trouble for them . It was our 2nd anniversary so my hubby made special requests : dinner on the beach with candles , flowers for me , we even had a guitarist from the grill restaurant coming and and playing for us on the beach. Staff made great effort . It was unforgettable !!!
You can get to Bodrum city very easy : by bus (about5€), taxi (about50€) , or bout taxi (about 250€ return). We have done them all - great experiense ! Highly recommend this place . Coming back next year !

Where to start from ? From the security gate , up to the last corner of the resort , our stay for a 7 day dream vacation was absolutely perfect. The room was very comfortable and view from balcony breathtaking overlooking the superb turquoise Aegean sea. At Barbaros Kempinsky , you do not need to put any effort in order to spend your best vacations and relaxing moments. Everything is provided with ease , even your sunglasses get to taste luxurious treatment by being washed and pampered on the beach, and your face washed and refreshed at any moment by fresh and cold towels . The SPA ... the best in the world for sure , thanks to their wondeful and professional team , always welcoming you warmly and always smiling . Mustapha was astonishing with his Hamam treatment which he always do from his heart with passion and professionalism ; Denise , the Yoga master was excelent with her Watsu treatment in the water in which she make you feel being reborn .... The massages were unique in their kind and well performed .
Finallly ,bravo to the front office management who welcomed us in a very warm way and made us feel at home . Talal ( Guest service ) greated us with welcoming drinks every time we crossed the reception at night and made us feel at home in this maginificient resort.
Also , met the General Manager , Mr. William Latour ,a very smart and brave person who made in sort to maintain the resort's luxe and perfectionism at the highest standards.

My advice for all travelers going to Bodrum ... YOU MUST DEFINITELY STAY AT KEMPINSKI .
