Stayed for 3 nights in the Kempinski in September 07. You've got to be impressed by the location and the stunning views across to Marmaris in the distance even if it does look a little bleak on the hill top as you drive up to it. The quality and fit-out of this hotel is excellent and the attention to detail is also very good and to be expected across the Kempinski 'brand'. Having struggled to find decent beaches in the area the attraction was a private beach here and we weren't disappointed. The watersports and equipment were very good and very available - but then at £30 for a quick ski around the bay I'm not surprised! The room was stunning with great views and again the design and fit-out was excellent. However, the dining experience was a bit of a non-event. The food in the beach restaurant was fine but you'd expect more for the price - the food in the Viatnamese (I think) restaurant was average at best - I've never had a green thai curry that was so spicy I had to order a few pints of water to help with the experience! But that's just a couple of meals - maybe we just didn't order the right things. The issue with this place for us and why we'd not choose to return is the lack of character and personality. I know it's a big 5-star hotel and not a boutique 10 bed place but I kept looking around for 'departures/arrivals' board in the main area hotel! It felt very 'conferency' and didn't make you feel truely welcome - it was meant to be 80% full but it's so big any atmosphere just gets lost. We'll be back to the smaller hotels in future...!
