“Relaxful holiday, i want to go there again!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2011

This used to be a "Magic life hotel" but not anymore. This means that all spa,watersport and so on is extra at this hotel now.

We decided to go to Turkey for 2 weeks on our holiday this year. I was not convinced that Turkey would be right choice based on my past budget Alanya visit 10 years ago.

But my kids (twin girls 7yrs and 9yrs old boy) convinced me that the cool looking waterslide pics was the right hotel.

The busride from the airport takes about 1 hour from airport its quite a bumpy ride to get there. The rooms are ok, they are clean and ac works good. The bedroom beds are stiff, bring your own pillow.

The hotell in general is really nice, location close to sea is beautiful!

The pool is quite big and well maintained but can be abit crowdy. There is enough sunbeds but when we where there all guests put there towels early morning and wasnt there much in all day. The only solution i can see is that they should remove unused towels 4 times a day. Then there should be enough sunbeds for all. Perhaps 35% peek usage at most in all day but almost impossible to get a sunbed after 08:00. I could see alot of discussions at pool side of who had the sunbeds first.

The hotel staff as really hard working and kept dining areas, pool area clean at all time. The staff was really nice and relaxed with kids, my kids kept them busy =). Almost all guests where familys with kids. The hotell have kids club, mine went to "superkids" which made their holiday even better meeting new friends quickly.

The food was great, new theme every day and alot to choose from. But buffe food isnt so spicy and after 14 days i longed for little more flawored / spicy food. The beer is ok, they serve Efes. The wine was unfortunately undrinkable. So we bought an extra bottle every day which was a great upgrade.

The entertainment team have activities almost every hour during day. In evening time the hotel have a great show almost everyday.

Hotel show is great with belly dance and acrobatic shows.

The Thomson staff have also shows almost every evening before or after the main show. It was quite funny sometimes but quite brittish silly.

We took a high speed tour to camel beach and kids loved riding the camels. Bring 10 lira for each kid the ride is short but ok for kids.

My best memory will be that i learned windsurfing from Kübra that also work in entertainment team. She is competing and is a pro. If you go snowboarding or have quite ok balance you will learn easilly. Kübra teached me the basics in windsurfing in a few hours and i was able to windsurf quite ok. I really enjoyed the windsurfing and wish that i had started earlier in my 2 weeks vaccation. If you want to learn windsuring i give Kübra my very best recommendation, thank you Kübra !

I was concidering to give a 5 star rating but the crazy sunbed situation and the wine and drinks i cant give more than 4.

We stay here the last week of june. We had a fast check-in and was given our room key in maybe 10min. First 3 days was VERY windy, it felt cold and the sea tempature was 19! And Pool maybe 20c. The water was very cold! It didnt feel like Turkey. The beach was a bit stoney, with small stones. Water level was ok, but stoney the first 6meters. Bathing shoes are recommended!. The beach volley area was also very stoney, and we found alot of broken glass in that sand!! So watch out.

The worst thing was the "booking" of the pool chairs. It says in the papers that you couldnt book them " with a towel" before 07.00, but people was there 05.00 and put there towel there. And by 07.00 there was no chairs free, some people sleept til 10.00 before they came to their sunbeds. Thats is scandal! If you put you towel on the sundbeds you have to stay there. On the beach it was better, not fully booked.

We booked a room with a balcony, 1 floor up. 1 double bed and 1 extra bed for 2 kids. The size of the room was around 20cbm. Bathroom was ok. Cleaning was not ok. They fixed the beds but i dont think they did more than that. I check the floor daily and same "sht" on the floor for 4 days. The reception was very friendly, helpful. When we got a problem in the room it was fixed within 1 hour. WARNING: The beds a ROCK SOLID!

The food was great ALOT to choose from. You could always find anything for you. Everyday they had a special like, newly grilled chicken, kebab,ravioli,special desert, salad. And some other 20 things to choose from. Desert table was nice, maybe around 10-15 small deserts to choose from. atleast 8-10 diffrent bread to breakfast. Cant complain on the food. Sure, it was some waiting to the meat station about 3-6 min. But if you are there around 18-18.30 its no problem. And dont leave the plate on the table, they take it VERY fast, and you have to go and get a new one. I heard that the Red wine & white wine that was free was awful. Beer, soda, juice OK.
On the day they have a pizza,burger,turkish pancakes etc. You will NEVER have that hungry feeling.

The entertainment on the evening was totally for Thomson UK and russians. Not a singel thing for us Nordic people. Boring.

Think you can deal for a Hamam is cost 350sek. And was the simple one, not oil massage .

The store at the hotel was very expensive, walk 300meter and you got another supermarket that is alot cheaper. It was a 30km in to Bodrum city, the Dolmus cost 4 lire per person. And if you are scared for speed at mountain roads then this ride is not for you. One ride we was going around 90-100km/h in the city roads..
On tuesdays there is a market in Bodrum City near the bussstation (200meters) with ALOT of clothes (not original as you know :) ) Some price ex. 1 Poloshirt Ambercrombie, 25 lire, 1 hoody jacket 50 lire, 5 pair Socks adidias 5 lire, Shoes around 40-50 lire. 3 pair jeans 50 lire, Underwear G-star,EA 5 lire each. Check the quality, sometimes they look the same but the textile is thicker on some. ALWAYS take a size larger then you usally have, they ALWAYS shrink abit. Björn Borg underwear are not recommended.

When i compare with alanya that we went last year, then bodrum is a lot smaller and colder. Will not go there again. Next time it will be Side or Alanya. The people in the stores told us that bodrum is alittle bit colder then alanya. Both in water and in the air.

If you like to stay at the hotel from 16.00 and all night just to relax , i think this is something for you. But if you like a little bit of movment and like street walking on the evening i think you should find another place. bcos its 30km in to the city.

Our trip wasnt bad but it wasnt good either. (I compare with our alanya trip)
It was a big hotel area so that personal feeling was lost. On our way back home we felt a little sick in the stomage, all 4 familys that was travel with us.

Hope you have some use of this, sorry for my english :)

Room Tip: Nice view and maybe better beds, then you have to pay alot extra

We booked our holiday going by reviews, the complex was clean and well kept, but that's where it all ends. The food hall was our worst nightmare like an ants nest can only describe it. The food was of poor standard and repetitive, if you let the woman and children go first there was not much left as they did not replace up to the finishing hours for dinning, all the food looked like mashed up left overs. The entertainment was geared for children.The wine house is closed down, The amphitheatre was not in use nor the indoor theatre or beach cinema.
There is an16+ pool but some people chose to ignore that rule even though there was notices on both entrances.The pool area was not cleaned so it attracted wasps until we poured water around the area we chose sit. A week was quite long enough.

Room Tip: if you have any disabilities there are steps to most rooms.Lifts not always working for food hall.

We just got back from a week's stay here. First off the transfer from the airport is really not as bad as reviews suggest - just about an hour - we arrived at night so really didnt see much and yes the last part was a little bumpy but really no issue. The hotel itself is fab - I had read lots of the reviews here of course before we booked and on the whole the reviews are a pretty good reflection of what to expect. The hotel is actually 9 low level 3 storey blocks which are really attractive and well laid out in lovely manicured gardens, so despite there being 300+ rooms it didnt feel like a gigantic hotel. There's lots of nice touches like all the plants and flowers having signs to tell you what they are, the have various fruit and vegetable gardens and even have 'Cat Donalds' - little wooden cat houses for the resident family of cats that live in the grounds and are very well looked after. We had a sea view family room which overlooked the main pool area and sea, the slight downside to this is it also faces the entertainment area meaning there is quite a lot of noise and whilst the kids entertainment ends at 9pm the music continues until 1-1.30am so if you have kids you may want to ask for one of the blocks further away which are quieter. The room was very clean, the aircon is not great but passable. Free beach towels which you can change anytime were a real help. The fridge in the room contains water on arrival, this is not replaced but you can help yourself to bottles of water from fridges around the hotel and even at the beach. The TV has a couple of disney channels and movie channels. The shower in room was great - instant hot water and very powerful and shower gel/shampoo are provided. The entertainment from both the Thomson staff and the hotel is just fantastic - the 24/7 effort these guys and gals put into keeping the kids entertained including 'Thomson the dog' was really excellent - they deserve a special mention. Sunbeds - if you want to sit around the main pool area you will need to be getting a towel down early - I mean 7-8am latest as by 9am they are all gone - make sure you get chairs with an umbrella - it's seriously hot here! The restaurant staff also warrant special praise - very friendly - food choice is huge - from plain stuff like chips and burgers to great and varied salads, fish, grilled chicken pasta's and they have special themed nights such and Italian and Turkish - the cake counter is just huge and really hard to avoid! We ate REALLY well here and could not fault the food or service - what's great is there's very little queueing also given the restaurant opening times are quite long - the food is continually restocked so dont rush!. The Turkish beer is fine and my wife enjoyed the wine and cocktails. They will also do non alchoholic cocktails for the kids at the pool bar. The kids can get all the ice cream they can eat all day from the snack bar and ice slush drinks, fizzy drinks and squash from all the bars which was great. Late Check out - if you have a very late flight home do not book your late check out with Thomson as it's only until 6pm, whereas if you book it with the hotel direct for the same money you can keep your room until 11pm. There is a free gym on site which is well equipped and airconditioned should you get cake guilt! Beach is fine - some shingle before smooth sand. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel and if you can get a good late deal rate even better :-)

Went on holiday with a friend for a week. Had a fantastic time!! Fab food - always loads of choice. Staff can't do enough for you. HAve been to turkey once before, and found it quite difficult trying to communicate with some of the staff but did not have this issue here. Although it's a family resort, the kids are kept entertained (and out of the way!) for most of the day. There is a 16+ pool as well so you don't get bothered. Only thing I would say is take bug spray if you spend time on the beach - I got bitten loads on first day. If you're looking for a party holiday, then this is not the place for you, as is very remote, however was great to relax. Would def go back again

Room Tip: The sea view rooms are closer to the club (12am-2am), so can be noisy at night

Amazing hotel and thompson were fantastic with all elements from kids club to entertainment . So clean everywhere, ideal for our 7 year old. Beach sandy, water clear.
Negatives... Stairs- no lifts except to restaurant.
Onsite Shop- very expensive ( there is one 3min walk off site)

Ideas... bring table tennis set water guns, snorkle set.
Booking to return next year.

Family holiday for four people, two adults and two children aged 17 and 14. Weather averaged at 37 degrees during day, and 28-29 at night with hotest day being 41 at peak and night 30.

Flight and transfer;
-Flight left on time and arrived slightly early.
-Transfer fine, about an hour as advertised, one drop off before and one after.
-Return flights actually left and arrived home early (sorry for those travelling elsewhere who had 2-4 hour delays)

Accommodation;
-Room (2 bedroom family room) clean but a little dated, very plainly decorated.
-Generally clean but again basic daily stuff, clean towels and beds made, bins emptied etc.
-Shower fine, provided gel and shampoo.
-Air conditioning provided, we had running all the time (use 'Do not Disturb' sign and insert where door key would go), it keeps cooler but not cold, around 24 degrees lowest in our rooms.

General site;
-Clean although one or two minor repairs needed to pathways and a couple of tiles around the pool area.
-Gardens maintained to reasonable standard, grass was cut shrubs looked after, some border planting had been 'lost' or destroyed by people walking through rather than sticking to paths.
-Pools clean and tidy.
-Area around pool continually cleared of cups, glasses, empty bottles by staff, always pleasant and polite.
-Found too crowded for our liking and also main pool source of most of days entertainment which can be a little draining after a few days.

Beach;
-mixture of course sand and what felt like grit. Not what I had imagined from other write ups. Also pebbles of about 1.5mtrs leading into the see.
-Plenty of sun loungers and cover, mixture of plastic type lonugers and wooded slatted ones with covers. The area under the awnings was good in the heat of the day and here the breeze was more noticable than round the pool.

Food and Drinks;
-Excellent albeit a bit same'ish by the end of the week, but fresh, clean and well cooked, didn't hang around long and become stale looking.
-Water readily available, as was local beer and wines. What you would expect from All Inclusive.

Facilities and Entertainment;
-Water slide okay but a bit of maintenance needed on stairway, after a couple of goes lost interest.
-Childrens areas looked fine but our girls 14 and 17 never used them (although they did fancy a bit of a play).
-Great for younger families but not for older teenagers
-Disappointed that Open Air Cinema not in use and that Thomsons have introduced a stage area around the pool, not sure but this looks like why the area around the main pool felt crowded.
-Evening entertainment very limited, the main reason for booking, (did this several months ago on write ups from here and Thomsons own site) was that we thought the evenings would be better suited for the girls, they would be happy swimming and sun bathing during the day so entertainment then was not a problem.

Location;
-Excepted that this was remote but even so nowhere reallly to have a stroll around out of the complex, a few roads only, if you want to go further afield you have to bus it or hire a car.

Overall I would say this holiday was more 3 to 4 star rating, with the actual food and service from all the staff lifting it to a four status.

Room Tip: All family room with 2 beds are gardsn facing, some have better views than others so ask actually wh...
