“What a let down”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

We stayed here, all inclusive, last week in April 2012 and hotel and staff were good value for money, beer cold and limited buffet choices but was adequate.Great location, so we decided to return same week 1 year later BIG MISTAKE! Food was served to you no choice whatsoever have it or dont have it. low grade food, fill you up stuff- very little protien, no fruit whatsover-no water or ice for drinks. They have spoilt it for themselves as we will not return. Now cheap & Nasty

This hotel must be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in or hear about. The smell of a public toilet hit you as you walked into the room which turned out to be camphas balls put in the sink, to try to discise the smell of damp, broken lock on door, [--] on bed base which was straight on the floor, no head board, sink undescribable, the water in the shower was cold and stopped after about one minute (which did not start again), punch holes in door. Complained to manager and told if we where with cosmos they would move us to another hotel but because we had booked with Olympus we had to claim our money back from our tour operator. They told us they had no other complaints which I find hard to believe and should have complained when we were there as they have no record of it. so far have refused to refund us, we are now applying to the arbitration scheme arranged by ABTA

Starting off me and my dad arrived in Alta beach in the afternoon we were giving a key for our room and we then had to find our room ourselves and were not giving help with our luggage. We arrived at the room they had provided us with and the room was a store room, beds were stacked up and the room was incomplete. My dad then went down to reception to ask for another room bearing in mind we had payed for 'pool view room' we then had a room that was very small looking over a dirty track alley sort of thing. As our patience was getting thin we then walked down to reception again and asked for another room, we were then put in a room looking over the gardens, it was our 3rd room so we took it! We were highly disappointed with this room as there was large cracks in the doors, the lock on the door had rotted along with the rotted wooden windows, beds were creaking, no shower cubicle or bath it was just a wet room, marks up the walls, only one thin sheet on the bed, one person balcony you couldn't even sit on it really. Staff were awful! food was the most bog standard meal's i had ever eaten. Salad for breakfast along with the choice of some sort of sausage and a boiled egg! which was the same every morning. The evening meal was the same as what was served in the afternoon for dinner. Most people didn't stay and eat even though they had payed for all-inclusive because the food was so poor. No variety what so ever. Our stay was for a week 26-10-12 - 02-11-12, not only was our stay appalling but they tried to kick us out 2 days early by saying we had overstayed our welcome, our document with the dates on had been taken off us on arrival, but the copy the manager showed us was not the same copy but with our details on! luckily we had a trump card and had a second copy of the correct details otherwise we'd of been stranded for two days! We met some lovely brits at the hotel and topic of conversation always was how rubbish the hotel was! Music was blaring every night,, not ideal for families with young children. On two occasion the maid didnt clean our rooms and we had no clean towels and for the last two days we had no hot water! There were no activities for children during the day or night, it was just one of the bar staff that thought he was a D.J just playing tunes off his laptop!Think twice before booking! The easiest way to describe the hotel is its like the hotel off the Inbetweeners movie! Holiday of hell, couldn't be more happier to be home in Wales now!

My husband and i stayed at the alta for a week commencing 8/10/2012. We read the reviews but decided to go with an open mind.We didnt arrive at the hotel until 2am so couldnt see anything hardly . To start there where no lights on the stairwell leading to our room. When we got to the room the young lad asked if it was ok. we checked round and said it was fine. NO mould . Very clean even tho our room contained 3 single beds of which 2 where pushed together to make double and 1 sheet and 1 blanket. Breakfast consists of eggs bread an assortment of cheeses and salads and some cereal. Dinner was usually chicken rice pasta and mash lots if salad bread and assortment of cakes sometimes fruit. Tea was the same most days. Not completely inedible but did get boring after a few days. Most people who arrived after us complained about rooms and where changing rooms all the time. We must have got the luxury suite so decided to stick with it even tho we lacked a sink plug but compared to some rooms that was a blip. We never at anytime witnessed rude staff only a couple of rude and loud holiday mak
ers. My only complaint was that an elderly lady cut her leg and there was no first aid available and she had to walk into town to get plasters herself . The lack of medical help really needs to be addressed here. Also the old ladies were left to drag their cases up and down stairs by themselves which i think a bit of staff help would have been appreciated. Entertainment is as it is in other reviews. JUst a laptop with music on. There are cats and
dogs but if you like animals then you wont
find this a problem. So its a basic hotel with basic foods. If the food was a bit better with more choice and a bit of entertainment until at least end of october for late holiday makers then it wouldnt be too bad. I wouldnt say its as bad as some people have made out. Turgutreis itself is a stunning place especially the views from the alta beach . So peaceful if thats what you want from your hols. I wouldnt specifically recommend this hotel . I would say read the reviews and go with an open mind.....we made several friends here which made our stay all the better.

Just returned from a weeks stay. Rooms are basic but get cleaned everyday. The food is prepared by another hotel as alta beach does their washing and arrives in same van! Food is recycled from one meal to another. Ie if it's for lunch it will be in the soup at dinner. Very very poor quality and when the bar closes at 11 they stop serving or restrict after 10.30. It's the first time I've gone all inclusive and has put me off for life! The photos make it look great but doesn't show you scale - pools not big nor does it show the lack of pool cleaning - uneven ground dirty ashtrays and used bottles there sometimes till lunch time. It was bought out whilst we were there so don't know what improvements will/have been made. I would NOT stay there again. Over the week there were several new arrivals and 90% demanded new rooms or didn't get the rooms they ordered. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE

I returned from the Alta beach hotel on the 4/10/12 after a 2 week stayall inclusive .Where do i start? food dangerous, beds seen better days, staff apart from Memet behind the bar decent all the rest couldn't speak or understand English. electrics dodgy and the area round the pool not suitable for very young kids.
The food is brought in from another hotel in gumbet along with the washing, then left out in the dining room uncovered for quite a while before the room was opened and it wasn't really the brits they catered for.
A lot of the rooms where mouldy grotty and could of done with a lick of paint. I know my holiday was a reasonable price but it cost us an extra 2 hundred pounds just to get decent edible food.
Bar shut at 11 o'clock and there was no entertainment apart from someone just picking tunes on his lap-top. |A letter of complaint will also be sent too the travel agency that we booked with and cosmos holiday group recommending that they should take the hotel off their books. Making our own entertainment at night and talking to other hotel guest a lot more complaints will be sent.
THINK TWICE BEFORE BOOKING.

Having just returned from a stay at the Alta Beach Hotel I am not surprised at some of the poor reviews here, as there were many guests constantly complaining throughout my vacation. Granted, it is a basic hotel, but at the price what do people realistically expect? Complaints over the attitude of staff, cleanliness and cats and dogs roaming the hotel are unwarranted. The staff were obliging, the hotel was constantly being cleaned, and i witnessed about 6 cats on the grounds throughout my stay, of which 3 were kittens and were actively encouraged by the majority of visitors. Friendly dogs could be found on the road outside of the hotel, but this is commonplace in Turkey and were certainly not a hazard. Whilst meals were often unimaginative, they were acceptable and the abundance of cheap eateries in the nearby village offered an alternative.
The behaviour and attitudes of some of the fellow guests was arguably more unappealing than the hotel- and it is not just the Germans that hog the sun-loungers with their towels! Don't go expecting 5 star luxury- it is a basic hotel, but offers a cheap base for exploring the beautiful Bodrum peninsula. To the reviewer who complained of unpleasant harassment at the market, that is beyond the control of the hotel management, and a complaint to the authorities would no doubt have brought swift action as the locals are keen to preserve the reputation of the resort.
If anyone is reading this before an imminent stay there, please don't be put off by the 'horror stories, but don't expect too much, and hope the sun continues to shine.

Room Tip: The rear of the hotel, whilst not providing seaviews, did seem to be quieter and more peaceful than...
