“Beautiful, relaxing, fun holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014

Me and boyfriend, early 20's, stayed last May (2013). Arrived v.late, our room looked over stairs so changed next day without hesitation, in fact asked to look at a few rooms until we decided on one over looking side path, fields, sea with lovely pink flowers on the balcony.

food: was always fresh, a lot of choice, loads of salads, always choice of meats, loved the pizzas too... never faulted the food, infact it was so fresh lost weight also (and we did eat a lot of pizza and rice and went up for second.... thirds.)

staff: very nice, helpful, friendly! after returning home I kept looking at this site to check the reviews noticed they got worse as the season got on so possibly it is because we were first of season, everybody still liking their jobs etc. but staff do work long hours, try talking English and great to sit down and talk to if you have the opportunity. Made a few friends with the staff, in particular Solomon, who was on security at the front gate, would love to go and say hi to him again he was very nice.

drinks: 24/7 great, sandwiches at 12 (if I can remember), nightclub was quiet but made some friends and had a good time in there. tried the raki (drink) in the nightclub, one of strongest drinks around.... it is strong!! be aware!

days out: through Thompson we booked the relax cruise, I am definitely booking this again when I return in may basically lay all day on top of the boat, nice stops on beaches really relaxing and beautiful. ALSO BOAT from Armonias beach (I cant remember the mans name) but his boat trips were also good! worth going on there too, we went on twice. also went to DREAM GIRLS through Thompson, drag show, about 45 mins drive, and they WILL pick on young men, a laugh to think back but boyfriend was horrified after he was picked twice to go up and dance etc etc...

location: all inclusive, pools, private beach, get the bus and go to turketres, and bodrum is the opposite way.

about 4 pm we used to take some crisps to the jetty and feed the fish! there is a lot of them and the will jump and fight for the food!

had Turkish massages in the SPA - lovely thing to spend some money on, I would recommend!

mentioned the rooms, a lot look like they are overlooking stairs and quite near other balcony's but make sure you ask about this.

We've arrived very late, around 4AM. After almost two hour long bus drive, dropping people to many impressive hotels, ours was the last and quite mediocre-looking. No promised champagne on arrival, but we were so tired that it didn't matter. Young man on the reception was very kind, and offered us a Honey-moon suite (as there was no more doubles left). To be honest, even that didn't help much, we were badly disappointed with the hotel standard. It doesn't deserve 5 stars, not even 4. Maybe the standards are different in Asia... but looks like we were quite lucky anyway. Room smelled... mixture of cigarette smoke and air-con fungus (turned it off and never used again). Looked like it hasn't been cleaned properly. My wife was not happy, but we were too tired to think about it and quickly went to sleep. No major issues.

Next morning we went for the introduction. Resident (Heather) was very kind and helpful. We gave her our comments about the room and later that day we came back to it being properly cleaned.

We had mixed feeleings about the reception staff. Few girls were very nice and helpful, while some guys were total douche-bags. TIP: if you have any issue, just go straight to "guest relations" and they will sort you way better.

Catering was OK, but the selection of hot food not so great. It became quite boring after few days. The only complain was the service - if you are not one of the first to come you will have a hard time finding a clean table. Soft drinks were from concentrate and not good. It was difficult to get any waiter to bring you wine, which was some generic red or white, but not so bad. Coffee from Nescafe machines, not great.

Drinks were actually very poor, cocktails were paid extra (TIP: tip the bartender well, then he looked after you, you can even get some cocktails free). We are not drinkers so it didn't bother us so much.

Beach was clean, no dogs mentioned in other reviews. Motorsports are quite expensive, but you can haggle... just be friendly with the staff.

Entertainment and pool activities were good and fun, but short. Only about an hour a day.

Despite all the bad sides we enjoyed our holidays. It all comes down to you attitude. We met some great and fun people there. We took few trips (boat, scuba diving, Dalyan mud-bath, Turkish bath, Kos). We hardly used our room. Turned out we had it much better that many other guests anyway. While on the trip we met some people from other hotels (3-4 star) and saw some photos of those places... I couldn't believe how bad could it be (black mold in the bathroom, tapestry peeling off the walls, filthy rooms - had to change rooms couple of times before got decent one). One has to be really careful, or you holidays will be ruined.

In general - I wouldn't go back to that place. We trusted the girl in the agency and that was our mistake. There were few other hotels in the offer, check them all on TA before making a decision. Maybe it wasn't up to our expectations after few other holidays we booked with this operator, but it is up to you how you'll enjoy it. Try to look at the bright sides and make the best out of it.

My girlfriend and I visited armonia on the 3rd June 2013 for 2 weeks and was the best experience of our lives !!!! We arrived early hours of the 4th at 02:00 in the morning and was greeted with a very happy friendly security guard who could see we were tired and drained, he asked us if we would like a drink or a sandwich from the lobby bar but all we wanted to do was go to the Room and sleep !!. Check in was very easy and quick with a quick explanation of how the hotel works i.e towels, meal times. Bar opening times. All the info is also in a booklet placed in your room which explained everything clearly!!! We missed our welcome meeting as we over slept but heather put a note through our door saying " sorry I missed you at the meeting, please feel free to come tomorrow, let me know if there is anything I can help you with" which was a lovely gesture. On the first day we went straight to the beach as it was around 1 in the afternoon and pool was rather busy but we got 2 sun beds straight away right by the beach bar which had our favourite barman "Ufuk" he knew what drinks we had by the second day and would get them ready before we even asked !!! We also met Dave the boat trip man who we saw everyday and he was the nicest man we met all holiday !!! Would always have time to talk to you !!! We went on the boat trip twice it was that good !! Jumping off of the top rail into the blue flat sea !!! Most amazing trip highly recommend it. They even do lunch on the boat and stop at camel beach for a camel ride and a bit of jewellery shopping perfect if you want to buy gifts for home. But even after we went on the trip twice Dave would still stop and talk to you and make sure your having a nice time and all is ok !!!! The food was very nice !! It is abit samey samey by the end of second week but it's all delicious so can't complain if it's the same nice stuff can you !!! The animation team were brilliant !!! Would highly recommend the Michael Jackson show !!! Always doing trips and games around the pool !! Rooms were very clean and nice they weren't massive but they don't claim to be as they say on the website but more than enough room as your only in the room over night straight out to the beach/pool !! Beach was lovely only a few little stones on the way into the sea but still amazing views from beach over to kos!!! Went into the town twice for some good deals make sure you haggle and you will get so much cheaper and if they say no say ok and start walking they will soon accept your offer !! Couldn't fault this hotel at all it was the most amazing place with amazing staff and a great atmosphere !!! We will be going back June 2014 !!!! Cannot wait !!! Don't know who these people are complaining about everything ?? Must of visited a different hotel to us !!!

This hotel is definitely not 5 stars as it claims, I have seen better 3 star hotels. Food was the worst part of this hotel , (if you are a vegetarian there are many options of salads but not hot food). There wasn't much meat choices and only they were very cheap nasty meats, they had a special Turkish night with BBQ but it hardly edible. Breakfast were very good though.
The tables by the pool were never cleaned during the day, the place was a mess by the afternoon everyday. Twice I had to find the "manager" to inform of him of broken glass by the pool.
Receptionist were not helpful, we asked for a late checkout as we had 2 babies, we were told this was possible and not to worry but on the day , they were very rude and unreasonable and just kicked us out of our room. We had to hang around the hotel amenities all day with 2 babies who obviously needed to nap, get changed etc, (they don't have baby changing facilities in the hotel, we had to change our babies by the pool.
Ice cream queue was a joke! They serve ice cream for an hour everyday and hundreds of people come running to the queue, I've never seen anything like it.
Staff from the Beauty salon were very clingy, they didn't leave us alone for a week, kept coming up to us to sell us massages and Turkish baths, they wouldn't take no for an answer.
Not a single smiling member of staff, no one talked to us or each other it seemed.
Unless you have a real emergency don't visit their on site doctor, who is not actually a doctor, she's a nurse who has a deal with the local private hospital, we were told by one of the animator staff that the hospital gives her a cut from every person she sends to the hospital. My son closed a closed on his toe and it went a bit purple, she sent us to the hospital which cost us £240.
Overall, far too expensive for what it is, I wouldn't recommend it, there are so many other choices in Bodrum, I am surprised Thomson works with a hotel who's standards are this low.
PS: its in the middle of no where, if you want to go somewhere decent have to travel an hour in a bus to get to Bodrum centre.

We booked through Thompson to go to the Armonia 10 weeks before we were due to fly, we booked it for my 21 st birthday. I must admit in the brochure it looked fantastic, we thought the rooms looked nice and big, the pools looked nice, the beach looked clean, we were also under the influence that the water sports were either free or very cheap. We were also told by a Thompson rep in the shop that it was lovely here as she had not long got back herself. Telling us about the terrace bar, games room, how the food was themed every night. I don't know if it was due to being end of season but none of the above was proven right to us. When we arrived it was hammering down with rain so the hotel didn't look great to start with anyway, but when we walked in the door I get the floor was going to look clean with the rain but laying towels down on the floor didn't do them any justice especially when the towels had been moved to the side of I the door! Receptionist was nice but constantly wanted a conversation with the young girls rather then seeing to the people checking in! Everybody loves it when someone offers them with their bags but to be honest if the bell boy is going to stand at our door for 15 minutes waiting for a tip when it was really late and we'd be travelling all day I'd have rather carried my bags myself bearing in mind I'd pretty much carried it from my own home to the airport etc. first instinct of the room was okay, looks smaller, but then we were lucky as we did book a twin room but asked for a double and we did get that, the view wasn't to bade dither when I looked the next day. It says in the brochure that housekeeping fill your fridge with water everyday, she must have forgotten our room as there was no water in sight, so we then went down to the lobby bar which was was told was 24/7 after waiting at the bar of near on 15 mins we then got served we asked for two beers, asking for this must have been to much to ask for as he slammed our glasses on the bar and I honestly thought they were going to bounce back up. There was no your welcome after we said thank you, there were no manors at all!! So we the a sled reception for bottle of water and he said the bar should have them so we went back to the lobby bar to then we be told" I do not have wAter here" with the worst attitude, so the receptionist in all fairness got hold of house keeping and they then brought us 5 bottles to the room.
So the next day we thought wed start our holiday again and went to breakfast, and to be honest, who has salad for breAkfast? So i stuck to the cheese toastie maker which was a cue. We then went to our welcome meeting with heather and she was lovely, and there were some great trips on there which we booked. We booked the dreamgirls trip, kos, and the sundowner cruise.
All was going well, because the weather still wasn't great we thought we'd go into turgetreis for the afternoon see what it was like. Well what a cuffufel that was, we were outside looking for a bus stop which heather (the rep) told us the bus stops just outside, but after looking for about 15 mins we then asked security who does not speak any English in fact thought we were French! He then pointed to two silver circles that kind of look like reflected lights on the opposite side of the road this was in fact what we had to use for our bus stop as there isn't one! But not to bad you show your wrist band they trip you straight to were you need to get off and it's right by were all the busses stop it's liked little car park, but when you go to get back, go right into the bus car park and look for the arklyar turgetreis bus and show your wrist band they then will drop you right outside the hotel. It's sounds difficult but once done once it's so easy to do. The town is very old but very nice and the restaurants and bars are very nice and the staff are very polite and pleasent. On our last night we went for a meal in a restaurant next to a bar called uncles can't remember what it called but the steak is to die for a the homemade bread which is free was nice, good price for what you get. The service was really good too, but be open minded that it's an old town so cleanliness isn't 5* but the food totally made up for is especially when it's all cooked on a stone grill. The smell was immense. So the Saturday missed breakfast as nothing great, but we chilled by the pool, which was very cold, but clean, not all the bars are open so you have to go to the beach bar which is the bar you go to till midnight to get a drink. Weather was so much better which made the hotel look great, make sure you go to the entertainment pool as music is very hard to here unless you want the peace and quiet, but if you Have children I would recommend that pool. We went for lunch which to be honest we found a lot nicer then dinner, but for the first few days we were offered a wide variety but mostly Turkish dishes due to it being a Turkish holiday but by Sunday they were all gone which meant the food went down by a great amount and then everything became the same, in the restaurant I would advise going to the bread bit at the back as the chef makes fresh bread and pizza in front of you which is really nice.
Saturday night we had the dream girls trip, but be warned you have to travel about an hour and a half on the bus before you get there as you have to pick up other people in which only ended up being one other person! But heather did not tell us this when booking, but when we got there the food was okay drinks very expensive but the dreamgirls them self were absolutely fantastic and I would recommend watching this. The funniest thing I have ever watched, and the include you in there acts which is great, and that's how we met our little group from our hotel which made the rest of the holiday
Give them there duet the animation team really did their best to help you get involved especially Benny and Jason who organised pool side games, which to be honest only included our group as when the Turkish people went home we had the hole pool to ourselves so they based the games around us and got to know us which was nice. They did this everyday but if there wasn't enough people they come and sit with you and get to know you which was nice. But other then that if it was just me and my chap and not the others I think we would have been quite bored. The beach bar actually turn the lights out on you when you still drinking and used their phone light to guide you out of the bar, but no panic you still had the lobby bar or their mini nightclub to go to which is based under the theatre steps! So every day we met with our little group beside the pool and chilled played some poolside games had dinner played and played a few drinking games, so that was what we did most of the holiday.
On the Monday we were meant to go to kos but on the Sunday May chap fell a bit poorly at lunchtime but thought it was due to the heat, but still early hours wasn't well. We contacted Thomson 24/7 helpine in which they said they needed 24 hours notice to get our money back, but with how early we were due to go on the Monday it still wouldn't of been 24 hours notice, so after a long conversation they then said it was down to heathers discression to give us our money back but after speaking to her she said it was nothing to do with her! So from the same company two types on information were given out, and not once during our welcome meeting did she ever say about the cancellation process! It's actually written in tiny WHITE letters on your booking form which they I fact tear in half to keep part of them for themselves so you still wouldn't of known! After we had our chat with heather she then told us that the other trip we booked the sundowner cruise had I fact been cancelled which was I fact for my birthday so was fairly gutted, but we did get our money back. But on the day of my birthday at lunch the group we were with had intact organised with the chef to make me a birthday cake which the had done writing and stuff on and put sparklers on which made it quite special, and heather actually organised a card for them to give to me which was nice, that evening the animation team had also got involved on my birthday and made me loads of cocktails, which was no nice gesture and they all sang happy birthday and organised a karaoke night! We then went to the nightclub which ended a nice birthday and the group actually went and got me a bracelet which was lovely. After that the holiday just went super fast. But your all inclusive drinks were a wide variety it was actually only beer, vodka, gin, or Brandi their brand! You had to pay for anything else including cocktail and stuff, but we wanted when the run out of stuff they try and pass of other brands as something else e.g. When the vodka ran out hey were putting gin in people's glasses adds the bottles look the same. You only get free cocktails if the barren took a shine to any of the females. Be careful they get quite territorial ! When getting picked up the Thompson rep only stayed on the coach to the other hotel then got off on both ways of our holiday and no one at the airport on the way back to greet us! Plus be careful booing end of October as some of our friends that are still there today most of the staff and everything is shut and they are the last there even the rep has gone! So you have no one to go through if something went wrong, you'd have to phone home to get it sorted!
At the end of season the markets do flog their gear so everything does become quite cheap, so be sure to haggle with them! The beach watersports on the other hand he doesn't do haggling I less you a big group which he'll take 5 lera off the the amount. For what it is it's quite expensive and be warned they charge kids the same price as adults and it wasn't till I got a bit funny with him about and 8 year old paying the same as us was ridiculous he did lower the price for her.

As i said if it weren't for the people we met I think our holiday would have been quite boring, as much as we enjoy each other's company, I think we were lucky with our weather, but if you want to have the full experience of the hotel do not go in October as a lot of it closes when it doesn't actually say it should the only thing that we knew as shut was the a la carte restaurant in which we heard wasn't nice anyway. The jeti is really nice and feeding the fish is a lot of fun, the sea is warmer then the pool! Bbt the beach is full of stray dogs and cats and the cats had a habit of coming in the restaurant but we found it was cos of the other guests were actually feeding them! Food is the same at this time of the year and very limited, but we had the pool to ourselves and got served quicker which was nice.
The hotel I was would give a 3* but if the used what they had to their advantage it would be so much better.
P.s pack your own bedding my chap got rashes from the bedding as it was so dry ! And it only got changed twice!

Room Tip: Book a twin but ask for a double bed, but if you our a family make sure you book the family room!

We have just come back after a week at Armonia and cannot fault it. Everything was good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Spa was very enjoyable experience for the pair of us. Only used the pool once as it was cold but not surprised as end of season. Still sunbathed and got good tan.
could do with teamaking facilities in the room . Would go again.

My husband and I went for his birthday and we had a great time overall - just a few things that future travelers may wish to know...

Food: the food was good and even though we went in the 2nd to last week of the season there was always variety although towards the end it did seem a little 'samey'. If you are looking for a good fry up every morning it's not the place for you as being a Muslim country, Bacon and Sausages wont appear - although I can HIGHLY recommend the omelettes and toasties you can have!

Beach: a bit pebbly etc. and a fair few friendly stray dogs and cats who are always looked after by holiday makers, the sea is lovely once you get over the initial chill :) and the pier is great to look at the fish and even octopus who swim there!

Pools: Lovely and clean with a bar nearby all of them. Sunbeds are very comfy and all have a mattress on them so it's not hard and uncomfortable.

Spa: Although we didn't have any treatments we used the steam room, sauna and Turkish bath - all of which were free of charge and really lovely.

Staff: most are very friendly and will do all they can to help you with only a few exceptions (our friends we met out there had a bit of trouble with one particular waiter trying to be a tad over friendly)

Check in was quick and effortless and we even had our bags carried to the room for us.

Rooms: the rooms were a little on the small side but we didn't mind as to be honest when you are on a beach holiday how much time do you really spend in the room?! Our sheets were changed regularly, as were our towels however we never once had new bottles of water replaced in our mini-fridge - as it was we had 2 small bottles in when we got there and had to keep taking the large bottles from the restaurant when the maid didn't bother to give us fresh ones. Our rep said as it was the end of season we weren't the first people to tell her that... The mosque was nearby and they have their call to prayer every morning usually around 6am - this woke us up a few times but honestly you can tune it out after a day or so...

Thomson Rep Heather was superb and so friendly!

Overall we had a great holiday and we will return to Turkey although may try another hotel closer to Bodrum or another area as the Armonia is a tad out of the way. FYI there are regular Dolmas buses that run up to every 30 minutes from early until about 11pm into Bodrum (6 Turkish Lira each - about £2 each way) and the same for 3 Turkish Lira (about £1 each way) to go into Turgetreis.

Turgetreis has an amazing indoor type Market every day that can be open until early hours of the morning and every Saturday there is a massive bazaar which has everything from bags to shoes, spices to Turkish delight, clothes to hand made jewelry. Don't be afraid to haggle - they love it! You get a better deal with Turkish Lira than any other currency but they do accept Euros and Sterling.

If you stay at the Armonia, Dave does a boat trip from the pier at the hotel which although we didn't get a chance to do, people we met there said it was really fun and you see loads of beaches etc. Dave is really friendly and will always stop and chat to you for a bit.

Only other thing is when we went it was a Turkish holiday - which was great as you felt like a part of the festivities and on one day they had loads of authentic food and it was a fab atmosphere! However some of the local patrons were very rude, barged you out of the way and pushed in the queue and wont say sorry or even acknowledge you unless you say something to them... plus it was near impossible to get a table in the restaurant for a few days whilst they were there...

Room Tip: try and get a sea view room as you probably wont hear the call to prayer as often...
