We were originally booked into Regal Resort but, having read all the poor reviews (and having young 11 year old in tow) decided to switch to Gumbet (Ekin Hotel). We just did not want to risk our 7 day hols in a place described so poorly in so many reviews.

We made a point though of taking an early bus to visit Torba and Regal Resort - and spent an enjoyable time there. Have to say that first impressions were good - views were spectacular. Were greeted by security folks who seemed a bit intimidatng.
We walked through very impressive reception area and looked around the pool and walked up just some of the many steps mentioned in the reviews and, must admit, we was quickly knackered!

Met a really nice English family, who were saying that they had been worried by reviews too but, had actually been relieved that the place tgurned out to be OK. Said the food was "OK" and that the entertainment was pretty naff - but still enjoyable. The rooms, they said, were clean and the kids were enjoying it. Only down side that everyone spoke of was the need to catch a bus into Bodrum or elsewhere to get any outside shopping/evening night life.

We found the place nice and clean, the facilities seemed OK and - bearing in mind what folks were telling us who were staying there, seemed to be a do-able holiday (though definately not a five star hotel by English standards).

We were glad we visited the place and felt we might have made the most of it for a holiday. On balance though, we are so glad we changed to the Ekin Hotel in Gumbet, which we thought was a better resort and (though not perfect) the Ekin was better, all things considered.

We, think, could have had a good holiday at the Regal Resort, but think Torba a bit far out for our choice of family holiday.

Just back from the Regal resort, and do not totally agree with all that people are saying. We found the staff really friendly, a bit of a problem with some of the reception staff not understanding us. The hotel is set up for the Turkish market but if you are just looking for a relaxing time then we did have that. The steps are in the shade and unless you are elderly they should not be a problem. We only went to the top pool as it was quiet, and bar staff very friendly. Only run out of beer once. We were never hungry so always found something to eat, plent y of salads, fresh fruit, soup, and crusty bread, someimes difficult to determine what the other food was, so signs would help, and it was not always at its hotest. We had a laugh about it, and none of us were ill. Drinks are limited choice, they only have Beer, wine (not the best), vodka, Gin or Raki. Machines around for water/ fruit juices in the bar areas and dining room. The dining room is basic but it is lovely sitting outside or on the terrace up th stair.
Certainly not 5 star,but we had a good time and met really nice people. Our room was 1521 and we went up 220 stairs from the bottom pool/ restaurant level but you got used to it The top pool was halfway between the bottom pool and our room. Room was basic 2 large beds , aircon and a basic fridge that both worked, balcony very small, but I could put my chair fromthe room out on it. Some of the rooms have no outlook as they are blocked by trees.
Animation team, I cannot comment on during the day but yes mainly set up for the Turkish guests in the shows at night but the kids seemed to enjoy the disco that started at 9:30 pm for 30 mins.
Nothing for teenagers to do but enjoy each others company.
At the Turkish bath I paid £20 for a scrub, followed by an Aromatherapy massage, and then had another srub before coming home. We met some lovely people, Hi Donna & Lee, Brian & Joanne. Brian I am telling all our friends about you serving beers to my husband on his lounger, and Fergie hopes to see you in Edin for a Hearts game. If anyone has any questions they want to ask please get in touch. I will complain about the rep because we never saw him, we went to the welcome meeting and he was not there, and we have not seen him since, but then he would not have sorted the little problems we have as hemust be useless, we did see representation form Hotel4U and it looks like they were doing another looka t the Hotel so i will be in touch with them throuh Next Escapes to tell them what they need to do to make the British people happier, starting with the rating.

We booked to stay at 5 star Delta Beach Resort, and while on coach from airport were told it was double booked and got dropped at the bottom of the stairs at The Regal. The rep on bus said this was a 4 star! What a joke..The entrance steps are steep and dangerous to adults and children alike. Reception area a dump, lime green cheap sofas and 70s type decor. Staff in cheap matching lime green shirts! Limited English spoken at reception. Pool was closed early on the day we arrived, 5th Aug 2007, due to complaints over its cleanliness. The room was small, filthy and had cheap old furniture in it. Bathroom had not been cleaned, toilet bin full, long hair clogging bath and sink and old shampoo lids on floor, alongside soaking wet bath mat. Shower was thick with dirt. We eventually got 3 towels at midnight after asking 4 times..Two single beds and a campbed for our daughter, on balcony one chair and small plastic table, no room for anything else! Will miss out all of our complaints re the double booking and neither uk company or Turkish reps taking responsibility, as we are presently seeking compensation, but be well aware this is NOT a new hotel, it is an old hotel which has changed its name, it is not a case of teething problems , the place is a dump. We had cockroaches in the room, and a few days later other guests photographed a rat running through reception, plus a dead one lying on tennis court!We can email photos of these, unfortunately I dont know how to put them on this page!The rep "Andy" is a deadloss , but there seems to be enough written elsewhere about him!The air conditioning in our room didnt work, dripped lots of water onto floor, fridge also was ancient and didnt work, as was tv. Cold drinks served from open cheap 2l bottles kept on counter in 40 degree heat! Food cheap and basic, no labelling and piled high, dining room chaotic, we only ate breakfast there, it was so awful. The following day rep phoned to say we would have to stay there for the week! We ended up paying for a weeks holiday in another hotel and will persue our claim for compensation now that we are home. Hotel was 99.9% Turkish. Animation that we saw was Turkish and had lots of pelvic thrusting and was totally unsuitable for famillies. No playpark,kids club, internet access. It is the worst hotel we have ever been in, and was an awful start to a holiday in the sun we were really looking forward to. We did go to The Delta Beach and it was lovely, just what we wanted! The manager there showed us the copy of the fax he sent to local rep ,day before we left uk saying hotel full. Manager at Delta Beach also kindly advised on another suitable hotel, Zetinada, where we stayed for the rest of holiday .Anyone who has written this hotel is anything better than awful I suspect works for some of the English agencies which are still sending holidaymakers to this hotel when they are well aware it doesnt meet the most basic, ie clean and safe, British standards. Dont book, do anything to change hotels, and if you have been persue your claim!! We dont usually post on any of these sites but we would hate anyone else to have there holiday ruined. Reps attitude, "everyone wants to leave ,it is crap". We have travelled extensively and stayed in all grades of accomodation and are well aware that different countries have different standards but this place should be shut or marketed as an unrated hotel.

the good things about this hotel are the views and the pools and that is it.
If sold as a 3* then bearable, but when sold as 5* then a joke. If some people paid very little then probably they will accept it, but we did not.
Food - 4 out of 6 in my party got a 3 day stomach bug.
Staff - rude in reception, and if Turkish people at bar then ignored you till seved the Turkish!
Steps, lots of them and dangerous.
Air conditioning - if lucky and get good room it works, if not then in 40 degree heat it is a killer, and the reception satff do not seem to care (even 3* hotel would expect the Air con to work)
and so on......
