“Cracking holiday”

Isil Club Bodrum

Aug 14, 2007

from the moment you check in the staff were friendly and helpfull.the waiters were the quickest and most efficient ever always with a smile.no problems with the food always a wide an d varied choice.most of the meat and fish cooked fresh in front of you.the rooms are cleaned every day and supply clean towels on request.pool towels are supplied on arrival and can be changed daily at morning and early evening.no restrictions on entering or exiting the pool.the pool is big enough for all guests and nice and clean.there were games twice a day if you liked to join in but no pressure on you.there were sunbeds on the beach and decking areas above the sea for a more relaxed day.beds were plentiful at 7.30 in morning,if you got down later pool staff would get you sorted.although there was a lot of foreighn guests we had no problem communicating.the location of the hotel is stunning but isolated.this is overcome by a regular bus service and a taxi rank outside the premises.the security stopped us on returning to the hotel but thats their job and always with good manners.definitely a superb holiday hotel.

Have just returned from a week at this hotel and have to agree with all the positive reviews.
The hotel and grounds are outstanding, very clean, the food is top drawer plenty of choice for everyone and the efes lager is very nice as are the red and rose wines.

There were never any queues for food or drink apart from 22:00 - 23:00 when there was only one bar open to serve the whole hotel!!!

As for other reviews complaining about Brits not being welcome we had no problems at all. The staff at the hotel are fantastic and can't do enough for you a special mention for Onder who works in the snack bar ( the most efficient bar tender I've ever seen! ).

There are plenty of activities during the day for those that want them, football, water polo, basketball and volleyball are all organised on a daily basis and there are lots of watersports on the private beach.

The only downside to this hotel is that it is out of the way so you are stuck in the hotel on an evening and there isn't alot to do especially for the kids who don't want to sit around all night!

I will definitely go back to this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone, it would be even better to go with friends and family and you could virtually spend nothing all holiday as everything is included.

“a good one”

This must be one of the continental European's best kept secret holiday destinations. My wife and I were one of only 4 English parties at the hotel, the remainder being Belgian, Dutch, French and Turkish. So, where to begin? All the staff were able to speak a modicum of English, although they did persist in addressing us in French throughout our stay, but as the hotel is Belgian owned I suppose that is to be expected. Cleanliness was impeccable both in our room and all the public areas. We were never presented with a dirty piece of cutlery or crockery in any bar or restaurant area. The food was incredible. My wife is vegetarian but still had multiple choices at every meal rather than the ubiquitous salad. There was so much choice for us it was really difficult to decide what to have. Why is it that salads abroad always have so much more flavour than British salads? If we had wanted to, we could have eaten virtually non-stop from 7.30 a.m. to 2.00 a.m. the following morning in one restaurant or another. On the subject of food, though is a rare black(ish) mark for the hotel. The cold food counter, whilst refrigerated, is in a covered outside area of the restaurant, which allows insects easy access to the platters. Anyone availing themselves of one of the sweet sauces should watch out for wasps having a swim in the bowls. Despite the bowls having covers on them, the wasps crawl down the ladles and meet a sugary end shortly thereafter.
Leaving food, the animation team worked hard and there were daily activities in or around the pool daily, but they didn't pester everyone to join in, the activity was announced and it was left to us guests as to whether we joined in or not, unlike some hotels we've been at where press gangs roam the pool and beach area grabbing unsuspecting people to make up numbers. Possibly it was because Continentals are more into games than us Brits there was never any shortage of volunteers taking part.
The overall atmosphere of the hotel is very relaxed, even the children were well behaved. There was no drunken or rowdy behaviour, everyone was intent on having a relaxing, enjoyable time. Additionally - there were always enough sunbeds!
All in all, this is a very good hotel providing excellent service with a continental flavour. Try it!

myself, husband and 13 year old daughter stayed at this hotel. we returned at the end of june. we agree entirely with the last 2 reviews with regard to how british people are treated, especially like the previous reviewer said the more rude and ignorant the belgians and dutch are towards the staff the better they seem to get treated. the situation with the sunbeds is a complete joke, we saw one person at 2.00am come and place his towel on the bed.
luckily we met a lovly welsh family,(we thought we could all gang up together) no chance!!! i was furious one evening when a mixed nationality group including ourselves came through the gate when security heard our english accents we were the only people asked to show our passes. it's such a shame because this is a great hotel with staff that really try hard to help.
i would have returned to this hotel had we beeen treated equally like the previous reviewer said we've all paid the same money (perhaps some more than other's)part of travelling abroad is certainly about meeting other nationality's but not to feel you are somehow beneath them.

We were really looking forward to our holiday having paid above what we normally pay, and after having read all the reviews we were expecting something really special.
The accomodation is outstanding, rooms very modern and clean, The public areas are beautiful and views breathtaking----then you meet the rest of the guests, Belgian and Dutch guests are the majority at approx 100/1!! All that i am going to say is that i have never come across so many people in one place who you could only describe as unfriendly and very ignorant, i dont need to go into detail all i need to say is-sunbeds and queues!!!
The best of it is that the more they click their fingers at the waiters and treat them like skivvys, the more the waiters pander to their every whim!
Us Brits are treated like second rate citizens, there was ony a few of us there and we all felt the same- we discussed it at the nightly 'table dash and grab a sofa race'
I agree with the previous review. Our money is as good as anyone elses and i expected to be treat equally but sadly this isnt the case.
Another thing i would like to point out is that there isnt much choice of food for children or free ice-creams, you are able to buy them in the hotal shop but at about 3 quid a shot just how many are you willing to buy!!
We still enjoyed the holiday and cant fault the hotel or location but i feel that we werent really welcome and wouldnt return- my rating of above average is based on the hotel and location.
