“A Long Relationship”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

Have been going to the Tamarisk on and off for over 10 years. Can't add much to the praises already sung, but there has been a major improvement on the beach. The entrance to the water is pebbly, and they've installed some padding with handrails covering the pebbly bit which makes things so much easier on tender feet. The day trip on a gullet is highly recommended.
At night a few tables are placed on the beach, so you can dine close to the sea.

Back again at the Tamarisk for the 4th time in 9 years and noticed massive changes - they've painted the rafters in the restaurant area & had to cut down a dead palm tree by the pool (which is now exactly the right height for a beer shelf)
Otherwise it was the same perfect, welcoming & relaxing place. We keep saying that we can't keep going back, but we keep going back.
And we will go back again in a couple of years - the kids will make us
Managed the trip to Ephesus this year - long and VERY hot, but well worth it - avoid the optional Virgin Mary shrine trip if you are not religious - to this aetheist its just a small building with a long queue - no historical value at all
Also village trip to Syringee was pretty but v commercialised - they obviously get hundreds of cruise liner visitors every day so in my mind the village has been spoiled

Room Tip: Try to get as close to the pool as you can, as there is a slightly better view of the garden

We returned to Tamarisk beach again as there is something about this wonderful family run hotel that keeps drawing us back year after year. Sevelay,Murat,Murat junior and Gulsah always greet us as part of the Tamarisk family and make us so welcome.
This is a perfect location for a family holiday. Wonderful pool, great beach location, perfect sailing and delicious Turkish food with great service.

We were two families this trip and had two family suites next door to each other. The suites are spacious with a double bedroom and sitting room with two beds, flat screen tv, full size fridge for cold drinks which is stocked at very reasonable prices and balconies - perfect for a sundowner before dinner.
At lunchtime the turkish special of the day is delicious and comprises of a hot dish, salad and rice, but you can also get a great pizza or salad. Dinner is a wonderful mezzo selection to start which changes each day and a main course from the extensive menu, followed bt fruit or dessert.
Nigel is the head waiter and looks after your every need and seems to know what you want before you have even thought of it. You can have dinner either on a table on the beach or in the open air restaurant. Nothing nicer than dinner on the beach here looking over the ocean - bliss!

Water sports and kids club run by Dean and Kate are excellent and our daughter loved her trips with Kate to the inflatable park at Yashi beach which they sailed both ways to. We always love sailing in the afternoon and this year joined the sunset sail, where all of the boats went out together on a course rolled by a beer on Rabbit island before sailing back to Tamarisk.

All in all a perfect holiday and we will be back in October for more.

Room Tip: Family suites are spacious and perfectly located

This has to be the best holiday hotel that we have stayed at. Collected at the airport on time, whisked to the hotel, given a warm welcome by Gulsah and her family. Rooms and Suites were spotless and everyday we returned to our room to find it cleaned, fresh towels given nearly on a daily basis - a much higher standard of service as given than we expected. The pool and hotel area were great and again kept so clean. We stayed a a half board basis which is always a risk when you have never been there before, but yet again the Tamarisk go beyond what you would expect. Having experienced all inclusive hotels before - the Tamarisk food was varied, delicious and presented well - all six of us (even the fussy eaters) thoroughly enjoyed eating there. Everyone we met at the hotel had stayed there before and I now know why. Watersports with Dean, Katie and Tom were fantastic, we did windsurfing, sailing, ringo's - joined in for a guest boat race - all good fun. I honestly can not find ANY fault with the Tamarisk - wonderful family run hotel where you are made to feel so welcome, relaxing and so well looked after by Nigel, Simon and all the rest of the staff. Will we go back again - oh yes already requested a two week stay next year!!

Room Tip: Hotel is rated as three star and rooms basic, we found rooms to be spotless, cleaned to a high stand...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Me and three friends stayed at the tamarisk hotel for 10 days at the beginning of July, and from the start were blown away with the kindness and generous nature of the staff and the family. The Tamarisk hotel has a stunning pool area (which we took advantage of at least twice a day) with beautiful bridge across the middle separating out the childrens pool from the adults. The hotel and its gardens are decked in lavish flowers, which are watered daily. The rooms are basic but comfy and the hotel is not walking distances to anywhere but it is a short (and cheap) taxi ride away from Bitez, and a short dolmuche to Ortankent and Bodrum. Which allows you the option to eat in the hotel or out in town. The hotel has a vide variety of food, the majority of which, like most of Bodrum, is catered for tourists. We would have liked to have more tradisonal Turkish food at times but it’s always nice to be able to have a pasta dish occasionally. Once a week (during the summer) the hotel hold a barbeque on the beach, which was lovely. The chef made me swordfish espeaiclly, as he knew I didn’t eat meant which was very kind of him and delious.

However the best part of this hotel is not its choice to swim in the sea or the pool (as the own there own bit of the beach-Ortakent bay.) or its wide variety or water sports available. It is not even its lovely restrant and bar area, where you can sit down after a long day with a drink and look at the stars. But instead the staff and family who own it. On only our second night there one of our friends became suddenly very ill, with appendicitis and at 4 o’clock in the morning a member of the family rushed her to the nearest, best hospital along with another one of our friends, and stayed with her till 7 in the morning. The family took us too and from the hospital every day (sometimes twice a day.) they offered to stay with our friend all night so she wasn’t alone. They took it in turns to spend there days there not only as they translating what the nurses and doctors were saying, but also make sure she was ok and entertaine her.

As well as looking after our friend, they also dedicated there time to looking after us (who weren’t ill) and making sure we were ok and having a good time. They took us under their wing, adopted us for our stay and treated us like family. They gave us there personal numbers so we could call them if we needed them (which we did a lot) and everyday the family the rest of the staff (and the other guests) would ask about how our friend was and offer to help in anyway they could.

The family went out of their way to make sure we still had fun. They took me, apbarbe and another friend around Bordum at night, and bought us and let us try and experience all there favourite thing about turkey, like lokma and Turkish ice cream, they took us to an amazing place called ‘Deep House’ where your tables and chairs were on the beach where they bought us Turkish juices. It was an amazing night, which I will never forget. Another day they took us out on their speed boat to a ‘Camel beach’ where they bought us there favourite food for lunch which was like a flat spanicotia and was delicious, we they rode on a camel and had more ice cream, after we took the boat to ‘rabbit island.’ We climbed to the top of the island and then swam in the fresh sea, before returning back.

The staff made our holiday by providing good memories that will last forever during an incredible stressful time. We played cards with the staff every night and become incredible friendly with everyone.

The Tamarisk hotel is the perfect destinasion for a relaxing getaway, and a place where no matter what happens you can feel safe knowing that the staff will always be looking out for you and are there to call on if you need them. Aginst all the odds and stresses not only did we have a fantastic holiday but I think I am speaking for all my friends when I say we made friends for life, whom we are still in contact with now.

This was our second stay with the lovely people at Tamarisk Hotel. I've reviewed it before but I'd like to add even greater praise to this lovely family run hotel.
While we were there, at the beginning of June, a group of delightful 19 year old girls were staying there too. I have seen one of the girl's reviews (apbarbe) and felt I must add a little more to her glowing comments. At the very beginning of their holiday one of them was terribly ill with appendicitis. The owners of the hotel were incredibly helpful - rushing the poor girl to the best hospital nearby in the middle of the night in their own car, looking after the other 3 friends, giving them lifts and extra attention and making sure they still had a good holiday despite all the worry about their friend, sorting out a ground floor room for the patient after her operation and really being a family for all the girls while they were away from home.
It was lovely to meet the girls and we have met such nice people at Tamarisk. But most of all I would like to say thank you again to the Tamarisk Hotel owners who never seem to run out of love and smiles for their guests.

I visited Tamarisk in late June 2013 with three close friends and heightened expectations due to features in glossy magazines stating that Bodrum was Turkey's St Tropez. Tamarisk contributed to my expectations being met and exceeded.

We were promptly collected by our transfer after a sweaty and stressful flight and taken to the hotel. We were greeted by helpful staff and our luggage was taken to our room by the waiters who work there. Our room was basic and clean, with one double bed and three smaller beds set up in the living room area to accommodate for all four of us. The bathroom was sufficient - the shower didn't seem to match up with the pleasant living space but it was fine for our little over a week long stay.

We were stunned by the beautiful grounds, covered in pretty flowers and being tended to all day in the heat by the gardeners. The pool was perfect. There are plenty of loungers to claim and many shady spots too, and the little bridge across the pool was such a sweet touch. The snack bar provided us with an array of tasty lunchtime options and we found ourselves frequently visiting for ice creams. Dinner was also very good, with many MANY options to chose from. Personally I would have liked to seen less options that cater for international people and more traditional Turkish food. However, the mixed mezze to start was definitely a highlight of my trip, and I'll proudly admit that maybe I consumed one too many of the buffet deserts on offer. The baklava there is divine!

By far the best element of my stay at Tamarisk were the staff. It's quite odd describing them as staff as I would call them newfound friends now! The family who own and run Tamarisk couldn't have been more helpful and caring during our stay - they practically adopted us and treated us with such generosity and consideration. They really looked after us four young girls and I couldn't be more thankful. The waiters there were also lovely, very efficient and always happy to help.

Although I didn't partake in any of the scheduled water sports, I would definitely return to do so! I would recommend accustoming oneself with the dolmus (Turkish bus service) as using those it's very easy to explore Bodrum. Make sure you get to the BBQ too! Lots of fun and an opportunity to meet others at Tamarisk.

I would really recommend a visit to Tamarisk, I couldn't be more appreciative for their hospitality.
