“Odd name, great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012 via mobile

For the price and location, SofaBed Is a great value. Set just next to a little river, it is a five minute walk to the beach promenade. The rooms are large, with a fridge, nice bathroom, and small balcony with clothes drying rack. For 5TL you can use the washing machine. There is a beautiful and pristine large swimming pool with lots of lounges if you don't feel like going to the beach. Staff is extremely friendly and there is a cute African Grey parrot which whistles, sings, and talks. The area of Ortakent is frequented by Turkish as well as international tourists and the long stretch of beach has many restaurants to spend time at.

My wife and I stayed at the Sofabed in September 2012. Turkey delivered fantastic weather as usual and the Sofabed was just want we needed and expected. It was clean and quiet. The rooms are comparable to four star the pool was clean and there was never more than eight people round it, in fact most days it was just the two of us. The breakfast was a limited Turkish breakfast which we were ok with but would have needed to have eaten offsite if we stayed for longer than a week. The resort was quiet, partly due to it being the end of the season, yet had a really wide selection of restaurants to suit varied tastes and budgets. I would highly recommend this hotel to those who are after a simple, quiet holiday in a high quality hotel.

Have just returned from Sofabed hotel having spent 11 nights there ,from 13/9-23/9 . We can honestly say we did not want to leave .
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome ,nothing was to much trouble .
The rooms are spacious ,clean and of a good standard . The Bathroom /wetroom is exceptional . The Hotel is situated in a tranquial part of town ,but still only 3 mins walk from the centre .
There is a mixture of both Turkish and English guests which adds to the attraction .
The pool area is extremly clean and well maintained ,no need to put towels down as plenty of sunbeds .
The food in the hotel is of a good standard with daily Turkish specials -compliments to the Chef .
To compliment the whole package it must be mentioned that the family and all staff are delightful . They are curtiose ,polite and friendly and are informative about the area and local attractions. They accept that you are on holiday and do not hassle you to stay around the hotel ,although you may find it difficult to leave if you require a pleasant ,peaceful atmosphere ,as the hotel offers everything you need to enjoy and relax .
To summarise all things considered it would be difficult to beat a superb holiday at the sofabed Hotel .
Good Luck for the future you deserve it .

This was our second trip to this hotel. We were there last year for two weeks and loved it so much we returned for three weeks this.

With the exeception of Emel, who is in charge of front desk, all management and staff have changed since our last visit.

The rooms were cleaned regularly, the towels changed every two days and the room tidied every single day, We were well impressed with the statndard of cleaning in comparison with last year. The new management have certainly improved that side of things.

We ate there a few times. The food was good and no more expensive than anywhere else. The only downside is that this year there is no proper menu and no prices mentioned - which I think put a few people off.

Last year there was only one other British couple there during our stay. That has changed as more Brits seem to have discovered the place.

The place seems to attract couples as it's not really suitable for kids. Met some nice people this year.

All in all we can't fault the place and for the price you can't go wrong. As stated in other reviews it is superbly located and very quiet. Nothing is too much trouble for them - if you want anything just ask.

Would go back any time.

Room Tip: Bear in mind that there are several 'economy rooms' on the lower ground floor. When booking...

My wife and i have just returned from a three week stay at the Sofabed. The staff, especially, Dogan, known as Dan, were very friendly and polite. We stayed in room 102, which is located in the basement of the hotel. Although the room was clean and comfortable, it is worth spending a little bit more money to stay in one of the rooms on the two floors above as the courtyard outside was not maintained and the furniture and flower beds were left to the elements, which is such a shame. The pool was very clean and because the majority of the residents in the hotel were Turkish, there were always plenty of sunbeds available, as the Turks tended to go to the beach. The dolmus stopped close to the hotel and we visited several resorts around the Bodrum peninsula. We frequented Musti's bar, which is just off the beach, which is owned by a Turkish gentleman and his English wife. We found the best two restaurants were Vira's and the first fish restaurant on the beach. The only other slight complaint about the hotel was that on one morning that we went to breakfast at a quarter to ten - breakfast is served until ten o'clock - the milk had run out. Wheh I asked for some more I was told that It had finished. On the last day the owners let us keep our room until five o'clock as we were not due to leave until eight thirty in the evening. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and we both had a lovely holiday.

One of the nicest hotels in the area: friendly, charming, convenient, secluded but not isolated. The staff are wonderful. The beach is 5 minutes away, the buses to Bodrum run frequently and until late at night, and the bus stop is just outside the hotel.

Tip: the best restaurant on the beach is vira's: great value and good quality. The rest are indendtikit tourist traps. Had the most disappointing (and expensive) meals I've ever had in Turkey in one of the beach-side eateries. If you want a really great dining experience - go to Gumusluk or Yalikavak.

The hotel is well located with just a 5 mins walk to around 40 restaurants. Dolmus's available nearby so easy to get to Bodrum or Turgetreis.
Rooms are a good size with an excellent bathroom and plenty of drawers and hanging space.
Other guests were mainly Turkish families and there are plenty of sunbeds available, though little shade (very small parasols).
Breakfast was eggs, tomatoes, cucumber, cheese, sliced meat, jams, bread and cereals. The only gripe was no fruit or juice.
Dan, in the bar, speaks very good English and can answer most of your questions (no need to Google!!)
There is currently work being done just outside the hotel where a small canal is being renovated but this really didn't affect our stay and it was interesting to see the difference between UK Health & Safety laws and the Turkish(which appears to be non-existent, ie no hard hats, safety boots, hi-vis jackets).
I would recommend this hotel to people who want a typically Turkish resort without loud bars, clubs and drunks.

Room Tip: The rooms on the upper floor have a clear view of the pool, on the ground floor there are shrubs rig...
