Just arrived home this evening. Spent a great week at the Siesta Beach. Rooms were great, very well equipped and clean - air con a must! V hot during the day altho it does get a little cool in the evening. My boyfriend and I wanted a chilled out week and this is what we got. Resort and hotels etc unusually quiet, but that suited us fine. (next week due to be busy again).Gumbet was described to us as 'party central' we however kept away from bar street and found that the Siesta is perfectly situated to be close enough to party if you want to or far enough away to chill. First night spent at the bar at the bottom (way too many cocktails!) and the rest of the week we spent at the 'top bar' which has fabulous views, especially at sunset. We chilled happily around the pool up there. Market and reception 24 hours, turkish bath is good too.
We ventured into Bitez and LOVED it. Bit more laid back and less hassle (altho the 'hassle' on the beachfront restaurants etc is in the main good natured). Beach a lot nicer too.
We ate most nights at the Windy Bay restaurant, nice food and people and a visit to see Zeki at the bar between the Windy Bay and the Mistral is a must. He is a really nice guy, no hassle, good conversation and a gorgeous dog called Pasha! You will fall in love with the little guy. Go see these guys and have fun!!
