Basically the manager Kemal was all over us when we arrived and blanked us when we bought gifts, food and trips from other places and not for him. He ignored us for 5 days not that it bothered us.
On the other side of the coin Gumbet is beautiful and the people are friendly we have been there 2 years previously and the people remembered us and made a point of talking to us. We will be returning to Gumbet but not 2 Kemal and the Titiz.

My friend and i stayed at this hell hole for a week in october, fawlty towers did not have a look in, the manager kemal who kept pressurising us to go home and see a lawyer due to his own unsuccessful running of the hell hole had went arse up, he showed us his overall takings and outgoings, why do we care? we were supposed to be on holiday!, he gave us print outs to take back to glasgow and even said that we might get some money back also, the tour operator he was with were called [--] on many occasions, my friend and i felt sorry for ramazan as he did all the work and the lady who was pregnant didnt get a break for a glass of water, but what we found absolutely outrageous, was on our arrival we were very thirsty and we took 2 bottles of what we thought was water out of the mini bar and to our disgust these bottles had been filled up with salty tap water we had sickness and diarreah the whole week, when we reported this to kemal he just shrugged it off and actually wrote a bill for these drinks! we spent an absolute fortune in the pharmacy to make ourselves better, so to the writer who wrote "speak the truth" this is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth, and you say youve been going there for 17years, how the hell on earth would you continue and put yourselves through this torture, my advice TRY HAWAII. stay out the TITIZ as its tits up!

I have just returned from a 2 week stay at the TiTiZ Hotel in Gumbet, I had read the reports on this site and found then to be a bit over the top and unfair, This sort of unfair reporting can put people of going to Turkey, not just the hotel.

I arrived at 5am and my bags were carried to my room at the poolside by Ramazan, The male cleaner / houseman. I stayed in the room for the first night, The room was clean and bright, With a TV and Fridge and aircon if required.

I had requested a room on the upper floors, so I was not to happy with the room allocated, I spoke to Kemal the owner in the morning, and within 40 mins I was moved to a apartment on the roof without any upset or hassle. It may just be the way you ask for things.

On the whole, the hotel area was kept clean and tidy all the time, I asked to see the kitchen area, and was taken right inside on request without having to wait, the kitchen, pool area and bar were clean and tidy anytime I was around the hotel.

The Rooms, as I say, I was moved to a great room on the roof beside the washing machines used to do the laundry, I did find a great problem with the towels being very very hard, and reported this to the manager. as I was beside the laundry I could see the problem first hand, The cleaner was trying to do all the dirty laundry in one wash (well nearly), there was so much in the machine that there was no room for the water, they did use softner, but it did'nt get near the towels.
So yes, the towels were a big problem, but he has been told about them now. I printed all the reports from this site for 2005/2006 and took them with me to show him the complaints.
Kemal has told me he will act on whatever he can, But it is better to say when you are there, and not when you get home.

I have went to Bodrum/Gumbet twice a year for the last 17 years and have seen lots of hotels that are not as good as this for the price, I paid £250 for 2 weeks in a single room (but ended up in a apartment just for the asking)

I would stay at this hotel again just for the price and the location, But he is not with any tour operator next season, and is going to go on his own, But as flight only costs too much, i will have to go elsewhere on a package to keep the price down.

So sadly, Due to the bad reports, we have lost a good cheap little hotel in a great area.

My husband and I spent two weeks at the Titiz in July and had one of our best holidays ever. It was our first visit to Turkey and can't wait to go back. We were lucky to have a hotel room on the top floor overlooking the pool and bar area and the view from the balcony was outstanding especially at night. On arrival we were greeted by the manager with a complimentary drink and our cases were carried to our room for us. Breakfast consisted of lovely fresh bread, boiled eggs, meat, jam and honey and tea and coffee and as much as you wanted. The manager was always telling us to ask him if we needed anything and his wife was lovely. In fact all the staff were. Our room was spacious and cleaned every morning with fresh towels left. We never saw a single cockroach although we had been expecting to - not because of uncleanliness but because this was TURKEY and guess what - Turkey has lots of cockroaches and other nasties like all other hot countries. Most people know to expect that when going abroad. The only complaint we had was the volume of the music at times, but the barman would turn it down if asked (or received a glare from us!) At the end of our holiday the entire staff were there to wave us off - at 2.45 in the morning! So to those of you reading this who have booked a holiday at the Titiz and are dreading it because of some of the reviews then don't. We felt the same but were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is okay, although I would advise Bed and Breakfast so that you get a hotel room rather than an apartment as some of them are very small - and ask for a top floor.

A friend and I stayed at the Titiz Hotel for one week in September 2006. Before we arrived we had read all the reports posted on Trip Advisor and were in a state of panic as to what we were to find. We ended up having the best holiday we have had so far.

We arrived at the hotel early evening and were promptly checked in and introduced to the manager Kemal and his wife at reception. My only concern upon arrival was when we were being shown to our room. There is a cleaning lady who works at the hotel and she was around 7 months pregnant, and she was expected to carry our heavy suitcases up a flight of stairs to our room. I point blank refused for her to do this which didn’t go down too well with the manager Kemal who instructed the cleaning ladies husband to carry my suitcase instead.

Our apartment was right on the poolside and was lovely. The apartments are small but were ok for two people they can sleep up to four which would be a tight squeeze. They have a fridge, two ring cooker, toaster and kettle. The room was clean and tidy, housekeeping was every day. Towels were changed twice a week, although I would recommend taking your own as the towels they provide have seen better days. The brochure stated hairdryers in apartments which is wrong. There are NO hairdryers provided in the apartments or rooms. We experienced no problems with cockroaches, rats or snakes as the reports stated. There is a shop next door to the hotel that provides everything you require, which was handy for us as we were self-catering.

The bar is open from breakfast until 2am. If you require a quiet holiday, this is not the place to go due to the bar playing music and the apartments being very close to the bar/pool area where you can experience quite a bit of noise.

The food at the hotel was good too although quite small portions. The restaurant is open from morning breakfast until 10pm where you can choose snacks whilst lying around the pool. They have a varied menu of English and Turkish dishes to choose from.

The staff at the hotel were friendly, polite and very helpful. You received no hassle from them as I have experienced on previous trips to Turkey. Holiday reps visit the hotel every day (which is a first).

The hotel is situated about a 2 minute walk away from the main Bar Street which is very handy indeed. You hear no noise from Bar Street at the hotel. Bar Street contains many various bars, English, Irish, Australian, Karaoke Themed Bars, Nightclubs, Restaurants, you name it, and they have it. It is very lively and friendly.
In between the bars and restaurants are a mixture of shops that sell, clothes, shoes, jewellery, ornaments etc. etc. There are barbers and hairdressers mixed in also..

The beach is a 10/15 minute walk from bar street, although, due to all out time spent on various excursions, we never managed to get to this.

We had a fabulous holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Titiz Hotel. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun and lively holiday at a very reasonable price.

Hello’s to Linzi and Trina, Simone and Ali, Rob and Rhona and most of all, last but not at all at least, Ercan (thank you for making my teaching of English a very pleasurable experience).
