“Don't even bother”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

we stayed for 3 weeks in this hotel, whilst visiting friends in the area. We would have been more comfortable and welcomed sleeping on the streets.
The staff started off friendly and helped us with our bags to our rooms and then it stopped abruptly there. We had booked bed and breakfast but after so many complaints from other guests and the fact we would never be awake on time to go to breakfast we avoided it!

we figured because we didnt spend any money in the hotel by buying food or drink or spunking our money of the excessive prices for air con, £120 per room per stay!!!! could have brought my own unit for that!

The rooms seemed clean at first but everything was dusty, and the bathroom was falling apart, the majority of the time the water was cold but if you were lucky at maybe 6am you could get scolded with how hot it was! and the floor was filthy and everything was leaking.

we didnt bother even asking for the wifi even though it was a great selling point for our decision to stay here. we couldnt get any source of conversation with them,
this leads us to our last day when we was expecting to be picked up by our transfer coach at around 6:30, we was told to leave our luggage in the reception for every tom dick and harry to walk past, this was from 11am until our pick, we then ask them if they had been contacted by our transfer company with a blunt reply of 'No' after leaving it till 7:30 our transfer coach didnt turn up, we asked for there help contacting the company and they refused and told us there phones will only dial out to turkish numbers.

We love gumbet with a passion and will always go back there but will always steer clear of club vela!

As soon as we arrived the staff was extremely nice and helpful. They showed us to our bedrooms which were very clean. Anything that we wanted they got to us immediately (extra blankets, extra towels, etc.). It was a very pleasant stay with a very welcoming and helpful staff. Will absolutely stay there again!

Unfortunately have to agree with all previous rewevs. It is very dirty, unfriendly and depressing hotel.Me and my friend had to spend as little time as possible in Vela during our stay.Very dirty room,no fridge,no balcony,no privisy at all, because rooms designed that way that everybody from street can see u while u are in your room.Good point for us was that we been in Gumbet many times before so we knew the good places where we could spent our time during the day and night. We spent all every day on beach during the day and in various bars and restaurants during the night.Spent much more money as resultEvery day around 6pm when it was time for us to going back to Vela we couldn't face it,so had to stop in bars to had couple cocktails just to feel more optimistic about going back to our depressing dirty rooms.Leo and Smileys really nice bars just near Vela. Those guys who work there we can't thank them enough for their hospitality, friendliness, they partly saved our holiday. We booked already for may 2013 and hope to see them again.so all in all stay away from hotel Vela.It is rundown, dirty, filthy, noisy place and it can ruin your holiday. We love Gumbet so much and will be going back again and again but never to Vela. And I also would like rekkomend few places to visit for lunch, dinner or just a drink-Sunflower,Carpe Deim,Nagi Beach restaurant(the best Turkish salad ever, and also Oscar the guy who works there,he is genuine lovely person and he can book for u trips,Turkish bath etc.),Parrot,Chikos,Smileys,Leos-brilliant atmosphere, outstanding food, nice friendly staff.

We stayed for 7 nights in September and yes we did have to ask cleaner for new towels and the sheets were not changed in the week, but the breakfast was adequate and we have been in much worse rooms than these and these rooms happened to be in England at a very much higher price!

For the price charged it was still good value and in an excellent location. There is a disco across the road where the music goes on until the early hours but the weather was cool enough at night to shut the door, so it did not keep us awake but it should be borne in mind for staying when the weather is warmer at night.

Me and a friend stayed 4 nights at Club Vela in the end of September 2012. We booked this hotel because it was really cheap, and had ok reviews. I usually never sleep at 3 star hotels, but took a chance this time. Never again!!

We got a room at ground floor. No balcony, no chairs outside our room, no place to dry our towels and everyone could look right in. The bathroom was old and awful, and the room was not much better. The shower had a door missing, so there was water all over the floor when showering. We told this to the staff the first day, but they never fixed it. At times there was no hot water, so we had some cold showers.... The sink had variable pressure, and at times it splashed water all over our clothes and on the floor. 2 days it was raining water from the aircondition, and the floor was soaking wet.

Our hotelroom was not cleaned during our stay. They said it would be cleaned every 3rd day (we didn´t know before we got there - then we wouldn´t have booked!), but they never cleaned ours eventhough we stayed 4 days. The staff did not speak english very well, and they should learn how to smile a bit more, and how to say hello and bye to their guests when we pass through the reception.

If you can´t sleep to loud music, then this hotel is not recommended either. In late evenings/nights there is really loud music from the barstreet. During our stay we stayed at the hotel as little as possible. We stayed at the beach daytime, and went to barstreet evening/nighttime.

The day we left from Vela was a huge relief, and I do not recommend this hotel to other travellers!!!

this hotel is the worst i have ever stayed in!!!. The staff who were also the owners were rude and very unhelpful. We booked breaksfast included but it was inedible, you were not allowed anything to drink other than turkish tea ( no milk allowed ) and you were not allowed to bring this into the hotel. They would chase you and demand you hand over your food or drink purchased outside the hotel but would not supply any themselves.
NO HOT WATER In one week we never once had any hot water and we tried at all hours day and night,.
ROOM LEFT FILTHY The room was never serviced of cleaned, no clean towels. There answer to this was " why do you need them there is no hot water" dirty dirty dirty. Even when you washed in cold water the haiirdryer didnt work.
NO WIFI DESPITE BOOKING BECAUSE THERE WAS We booked this hotel because it had free wifi but that never worked either because the owners kept it turned off. You had to stand by the reception desk and ask them to turn it on. if you left reception they turned it off again
Really really terrible.
VERY NOISY Also very noisy until 4am we moved rooms and almost everyone else in the hotel did too in an attempt to get a room that worked, had hot water and was quiet enough to sleep in, we all failed
EXCESSIVE CHARGES They wanted to charge £15 per night for air conditioning YES £15

Room Tip: There are no good rooms
