The worst thing about Trip Advisor is you always always get someone slagging every single Hotel even the Ritz the Dorchester and the 7 star Hilton Dubai Jumeirah all get slated by someone, some people expect everything.
We found the Club Ilayda in marmaris to be great for families, its probably a 10-15 minute walk to the beach, well longer if you have a wife like mine who stops at all the shops on the way.
It has a great water slide for the kids in the main pool, they have an act on every single night however I comment on them as we were out every night, the only one we saw was the Turkish night which is on every Sat night and it was really well done with a SUPERB buffet with hot n cold food and looked very picturesque beside the pool with all the lighting on the pool.
If like us with an 8 yr old and 12 yr old your out till after midnight you wont here the music from the show around the main pool as it stops at midnight, if however you like to go to bed on holiday before midnight or sit on your balcony all night etc then ask for a room which overlooks the smaller pool as you can here the main pool area acts and music. Dont let this quote put you off though as its not that bad really but some people when we were there did ask to be moved and were moved with no problems.
We had some germans above us one night who were sat on their balcony banging chairs etc at gone 2am, they took no notice when I shouted up asking them to stop, I went down and saw security and the security guard was spot on and was up their in minutes litterily, that was they only time we had cause to complain.
The location is beside a road but its a really quiet road and virtually opposite the Hotel Anastasi or Club Anastasia.
The room was cleaned every single day without fail.
The only pub we found in marmaris which was purpose built for families ie a huge kids play area is only about 500 yds from Club Ilayda. Come out of the Hotel turn right walk down to the crosssroads with the traffic lights, turn left here and walk down approx 300 yds and on your right Club Havana or bar cuba I forget the exact name but you cant mistake it its got all sorts to keep the kids happy.
The staff at the Hotel were spot on some of them having worked there for 18 years and one even remembered a brit holiday maker on our coach who was there 7 yrs earlier, they really are chatty and come and chat with you to make you feel at ease, you will have no problems at this hotel or at least we never. It has a games room with the internet.
ONE THING YOU MUST DO WHILE IN MARMARIS IS GO ON A JEEP SAFARI, I DONT WANT TO GIVE THE GAME AWAY TO MUCH BUT TRUST ME YOU WILL GET WET AND YOU DEFINATELY WONT OF BEING ON A JEEP SAFARI LIKE THEY HAVE IN MARMARIS AND YOU WILL WANT TO GO ON ONE AGAIN, ITS A TRUE TRUE JEEP SAFARI WET WET WET AND FUN FUN FUN
