“Fantastic holiday, would return tomorrow if I could!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2011

I have just returned from a week's stay in the Magnific Hotel and found both the hotel and the resort absolutely brilliant. The location of the hotel is excellent, positioned just metres away from the beach. The shaded bar area looks out onto the sea and serves really good, reasonably priced food, and buy one get one free drinks during happy hour, including some cocktails. The nightlife is also brilliant- the hotel is a short walk from "Bar Street", which is lively and great for a drink. Music can be heard from some of the bars at night time but it isn't too loud or in any way unbearable. The staff at the hotel, particularly the bar and resaturant staff, are friendly and very pleasant and most speak very good English. The evening meals at the hotel were fine- chicken, fish, pasta, chips etc, but nothing very special and so we chose to eat out a couple of nights. Two of our favourite restaurants were the Tempo Bar and the Red Dragon. The food was delicious and the service excellent and I would highly recommend them both!
Our room was clean and modern- basic, but that is what we expected and considering how little time is actually spent there, it didn't really matter to us. Again, the pool area is lovely and the sunbeds with the cushions are really relaxing. My only complaint would be that apart from the children's pool, the swimming pool is almost all the same depth and there is no shallow end meaning if you're quite small expect to tread a lot of water to avoid getting your hair wet!
Before booking my holiday, I read a couple of reviews which mentioned lots of cats and almost chose to go somewhere else because of it, being TERRIFIED of cats myself. I'll be honest, there was a few, and I did embarrass myself screaming at the sight of them a couple of times, but actually the cat which was there didn't bother you at all. I certainly wouldn't let any other review put you off this beautiful hotel because of it.
Also, do have a Turkish bath, we had one on our second day and your skin feels great afterwards, but make sure you do it early in your holiday to avoid having the tan which you've worked so hard for being scrubbed off!

This was our first time to Turkey. We didn't arrive until early hours of Sun morn. The only bad thing I would have to say about the hotel is after we were checked in we were shown to our room. The porter had just left and my husband went to use the bathroom, much to our horror there was a leak in the ceiling! We went back to reception and complained they told us there was no other rooms available and to come back in the morn which we did. There was a damp smell in the room. When we went back the next morn I complained and the receptionist isn't the friendliness but she told me they didn't have any rooms available and that she'd move us the next day which was going to be Tues. It didn't ruin our hols but the only thing was we couldn't shower because the leak was into the shower. However we complained to the rep as well and he got onto reception also and assured us we would be moved on Tues. As it turned out a lot of the same crowd had problems with rooms and by Tues in fairness we were all in new rooms.
Now the hotel itself was FAB, we could not fault anything about it other than the rooms we were first in, but once changed it was super. To get the best rooms I would ask for an upstairs room, as there didn't seem to be any complaints about these. Or also the new rooms are called superior rooms, these seem to be fab. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room away from the pool area. There are plenty. The pool was stunning, there is an island in the middle of the pool that has turtles living on it. The bar, restaurant, food etc were brilliant. The staff esp Yuseuf, Ramazan were fantastic, and many a great night we had with them. We met some other lovely couples and we always had a great night. The music is quite loud in the bar but it never affected us really. The beach is literally 10 feet away from the bar, and they do a drink and food service to the beds on the beach. It was so relaxing and just an amazing holiday. You must start off the holiday with a turkish bath and full body massage in the hotel, it was amazing. If you are in the bar area a man will sell them to you slightly less than what you'd pay if you went straight in yourself.
You are so close to the shops, pubs etc and all the locals are so nice. Only about 2mins walk from hotel. I have to mention OUR HOUSE restaurant near the hotel, it was just superb. We've never had food like it.
There was only one atm working in Gumbet while we were there. It was near Burger King. So take all money with you otherwise you'll have to go to Bodrum to take out some if you cant find the atm. We were at the market there on the Tues so we took ours out then. Bodrum is only 10 mins away on the bus and its well worth a visit. Its beautiful.
Overall we had a super holiday and we would def go back if we could and def stay in the Magnific Hotel again.

This was our first trip to Gumbet and the Magnific hotel was as the name suggested. We had room 100, modern, clean with space too! It did have one down side that we did not expect. It was close to the outside of the complex and you could here the music in to the small hours. Having said all that, the air-con did muffle out the sound so sleep was not an issue. The food was good for a week, would expect that after a week it would be a struggle, however it is cheap to eat out anyway. The bar and the staff were brill, the more you speak to them, the more you get back in return, had some good banter with the staff. The bar has two happy hours or buy one get one free deals, well worth it in my opinion. As for the beach, well just sit back and let the bar staff look after you, they come over tap in your order to an electronic device, this sends the order to the bar. Then off they pop to collect it, sometimes it takes a while for them to get back to you but they do, also you won't pay different prices each time you want a drink, so you won't get ripped off. Also a little tip every now and then is nothing to us, these guys work very long hours for very little pay and they do appreciate your tips. The swimming pool is also another eye catching feature, the large island has some very nice pets, the kids will love the Tortoises, my wife and I are no kids but they gave us some fond childhood memories. One thing to watch out for around the pool is the decking some of it was raised and you could trip in the dark, nothing major but worth a mention, nothing like a broken toe to ruin your break.

Would I go back? You bet I would. I am happy to answer any questions.

Rgds

Decent hotel. Close to the nightlife of barstreet. Breakfast was a lot healthier than im normally used to. It could become slightly monotonous, but its not like we have more variety in our breakfast at home so it did not bother us that much. The room was small but adequate. The cleaner was a nice young fellow who was very good and fast. There was some noise from barstreet at night but with the balconydoor closed it was barely audible. Besides we spent most of our time out at night anyway. Bodrum castle and ephesus are a must visit and so is a boattrip. Overall its a good hotel and gumbet is a very nice area to visit. We're going again this august i cant wait.

Me and a friend stayed at the hotel from 24th June to 1st July. We thought the room was good with a nice view of the pool and the sea. The food was really good every night, they also did a BBQ one night. The pool was very clean & beautiful. No problems getting a sunbed at all when we there - although a lot do get towels chucked on them early. The beach is a couple of steps away & water is gorgeous! We did a boat trip with 'tiger' which was great and only cos £16 each including all the drinks you Want & lunch & the trip was from 10.30 until 5.30 with 5 different stops. You'll find him if u walk onto the beach from the hotel and walk left and you'll literally see him!! Plus the boat trips run daily so you can pick whatever day you like! The staff at the hotel worked very hard and tried there best to please you. I just found a couple of them a bit Leary and they would always try chatting & joking and being a bit smarmy so it got a bit repetitive and boring. The other thing is the noise. Not too bad in the day around the pool but after 10.30 Is when the music starts (loud) and doesn't stop until 3 or 4 in the morning which we could hear very clearly from our room. Also the soho bar which is by the pool doesn't close until 5 every morning so there's always people chatting about around there - just hope your room isn't by the pool because you will struggle to get to sleep! Also spray lots of insect repellent before bed as the Mosquitos are lethal!! Gumbet main bar strip is literally just behind the hotel about a 2 minute walk. Although its party time until early hours there we could never hear it, could only hear ours around the pool!
