Couldn't have asked for more from this hotel and the family who run it, for my girlfriend and myself it was a home from home!
We pleasantly surprised with the Ayhan Hotel. We booked Allocation on Arrival and would have chosen this hotel had we been given the choice in a holiday brochure.
Excellent location for those wanting both quiet time and easy access beach, shops and bars (5 minutes away). Although you need lots of water and oxygen to get up the hills, but keeps you fit!
We cannot understand why people are complaining about various aspects of the hotel. Lets address these issues...
The Pool - Yes, it may be smaller than some however but it is adequete with surrounding loungers and tables. MORE than suitable for families or couples. Yes, it does get shady around 2-3pm but there is a large flowered garden area at the front hotel with loungers with close proximatey to the bar. It is in fact nice to escape the sun sometimes!
The Air-conditioning - We experienced no problems whatsoever, and found that the price quoted to us (and the other holiday makers) was more than fair for two weeks. We never expected to get air-conditioning for free, and this would be a rarity in most foreign countries. Also YOU CAN keep the air-conditioning on if you leave the room, use your COMMON sense! We we also allowed to keep the room on for an extra day to accomodate the night flight, for £10.00.
The Breakfast - You're in Turkey, what do you expect for breakfast? Oh, that's right, a TURKISH Breakfast (bread, jam, cucumbers, tomato, honey etc)! Some people have no idea whatsoever. If you want a full English breakfast everyday, this is not the hotel for you. There are surrounding restaurants that will accomodate your needs, but how can you complain when it is included at a very reasonable price? If you want a fry up, either go to Blackpool or visit an English restaurant for that type of culture.
Overall, Mehmet Ayhan and his family went to ever effort to accomodate our needs and we had a fabulous stay. Would definitely go back (even considering it now)! The family speak very good English (better than my Turkish) and were the life of the Turkish nights held once a week, with belly dance and excellent food!
Those who want a 5 star English cultured holiday need not apply!
