on arrival at the sunway around 6 in the morning the manager informed us that our room wasnt available until after lunchtime although we were told when booking that we would have the room straight away, we were told there was a pool with the hotel however we were sadly mistaken!
air conditiong had to be paid for separately along with sun loungers for the beach. several days of our stay we experienced a lack of water ...... no water at all so we couldn't even clean our teeth!! also there was no electricity for a large period of time each day! we were told this was a common problem at the hotel. the staff were pleasant yet the owners were rude and ignorant not wanting to help at all. the al a carte breakfast we were told we would receive consisted of eggs or watermelon and you had to pay separately for orange juice!

i wouldnt recomend this hotel to anyone!!!!!!!

Have just returned from one week at the Sunway Hotel, Gumbet. We had a wonderful time. Nearly changed our minds and rebooked at another hotel after reading the reviews on this website before we went - so glad we didn't.
Just a couple of bad points - Lifts didn't work, 4/5 floors (could be a problem for the less able). Safe deposit boxes were fidly to open at reception. Terrace bar is now disused, but not a problem. Hot water not plentiful at later times in the day due to solar power.
Other than these very few minor points above, that certainly did not spoil our holiday, we had a fabulous time.
The location is superb, within easy walking distance of Gumbet centre and the beach, but far enough away from the non-stop nightlife that you get a good night's sleep.
The rooms were cleaned every day together with clean sheets/ towels, even rose petals were scattered on the bed each day !
The food was amazing, with real Turkish food. Every day there was something new that you just had to try for the experience! The head chef has a real passion for what he does and it shows in his dedication for excellence. 5 star quality every day. Turkish breakfast is traditionally a simple affair but if you really must have your fry up then go to the Mandarin down the road for 3 lira inc toast and coffee.
The pool area was spotlessley clean every day with a plentiful supply of sun loungers although no shallow end to pool and slippery when wet surrounding which could prove hazardous for young children.
There was no charge for the air conditioning in the room.
All the staff are very friendly and always eager to please.
Caner the Sun Wings rep was also excellent and insisted that we call him if we found anything that wasn't to our liking, although we never needed to.
For only £205pp all inclusive plus transfers and taxes for a one week holiday we feel we have had excellent value for money and would not hesitate to go back again.
Well done Sunway staff for a brilliant holiday. The earlier reviews may have been justified then, but the place has now been turned around and if you want a real Turkish holiday with fabulously friendly Turkish people with real Turkish food then this is the only place to stay.

First of all, the Sunway is not a 4* in any terms, other than in Turkish, but really we found it more of a 3*. We had been to Gumbet the year before to a different hotel, and this surpassed that.The rooms were clean and spacious, and there is a fridge and television. Also the air conditioning was free of charge.
One thing that was great was the distance to the beach, which you could see from the window inside the dining room. Another plus for me, was the apartment feeling in a hotel - no corridors. You walk straight outside. The dining room is also located outside, but there is seating inside aswell. The food was delicous, and had great variety in both the cold and hot foods. However, the food may not be to everyones taste. Mostly salads, some turkish dishes, and some different hot meals. If you dont mind being a little adventurous with your food then you wont starve. Dont go expecting your sunday roasts and hamburgers. Most of people staying there are turkish so they are being catered for, not the British.
The staff were all friendly, and the hotel was great, and really contributed to our holiday experience.

dont listen to the bad comments it may have been true some time ago i am unsure but i know the hotel is brill now...you dont pay for your aircon...food is great and as the person below said two barmen adnan and deniz were fab its worth going just to see them! i never heard one complaint from others about the hotel and met two ladies their who have been visiting at least once a year for the past 6 years. will deff be going bak.
