Small and basic but with a personal touch. Staff go out of their way to do what they can to make you welcome and also socialise in the bar partaking in games or just chatting.
Out of the hustle n bustle of the lively Bar street but also within walking distance should you be up for partying. Food excellent with a special of the day dish for your evening meal.

Would definately stay again.

Just got back from 2 weeks here,as other reviews say a basic hotel but clean and friendly. the staff(Oz,Yackob and the boss Adam) are great and will do anything to help you.A large pool for a small hotel and being situated on the road out of Gumbet has many local Turkish lokantas nearby where you can get a doner for only 2 Lira. The prices in the hotel are good(6lira for a beer,4 lira soft drinks).
Would highly recommend, will be going back next year hopefully.
Not suitable for those with walking difficulties(many steps)

Room Tip: Balcony rooms face the pool, the rest face the road which can be noisy.

Stayed at the Dost Hotel 19 August 2013 - 2 September 2013. The hotel is basic but to be honest it's only to put your head down and sleep after a night out. The room was cleaned every day, the staff were very helpful (especially Oz). Would defiantly stay again

Stayed here October 2012 for 8 days, there was problems with hot water and although we thought we had paid for breakfasts we were asked for more money, the room was not cleaned during our stay but we could get clean towels , the cleaner was away poorly and that can not be helped but expected a refund for no breakfasts ,no cleaner and the pool was empty, but myself and my friend felt reasonable safe in our room,we felt uncomfortable in the lounge / diner, the location of the hotel is slightly away from bar street so quiet, and we overlooked the pool so away from the street road noise.

A group of 4 of us stayed at Hotel Dost the last week in July. We booked through a travel agency and picked the hotel as it was cheap. We wanted our holiday to be relaxing but close to nightlife.
The hotel itself is basic, you get what you pay for, however the rooms, pool area and the rest of the hotel were very clean which is all you need. You have to pay extra for air - con, but i'm sure you would if we stayed at other hotels.
Our package was bed and breakfast, which included a selection of bread, olives, tomato, cucumber and a hard boiled egg, which is a traditional Turkish breakfast, but if you want to have a full English or egg on toast, there is a breakfast menu you can choose from but at an additional cost.
All of the staff that worked there were VERY friendly and made you feel very welcome and would do anything to accommodate your needs. As the hotel on has a few rooms, you felt like a little family. We met some lovely people when we stayed, had a great evening with the Turkish Night, which included a BBQ and entertainment.
The bar at the hotel would stay open until everyone went to bed and the drinks were as cheap, if not cheaper than the bars on Bar Street (strip of bars and restaurants approx a 10min walk).
Overall we had a great week away and would not hesitate in staying at the hotel again.

Room Tip: Pool facing rooms are better

I've just come back from a weeks holiday with two friends and had the best time.

We weren't expecting much from the hotel as we had booked a last minute cheapy. Upon arriving at the dost everyone was so friendly, the hotel is small and basic but everything that 3 25 year old girls needed. The room was a little small for three of us but we soon got used to it, and it was nice and quiet as we were on the back over looking the pool. All the staff are fantastic and welcomed us straight away. We ate in the hotel a couple of nights when we couldn't be bothered to walk to the restaurants, the food was really good and they would cook you practically anything you wanted.

We met some lovely people in the hotel, most are English.

In response to the previous reviews, it is quite obvious as soon as you get to turkey you are not allowed others in your hotel. If you try and bring others back then you are asking for trouble.

I would definitely return here absolutely loved it!

I have just returned from a ten night stay at the Dost accompanied by my 15 year old daughter.
Firstly, as stated by numerous other visitors, this is not a five star hotel but it can only be described as a home from home.
The rooms are basic, but are immaculately clean and are cleaned daily with bedding and towels being changed every other day.
The staff are the most hospitable and accommodating people I have ever met, nothing is too much trouble for them. Adnan the manager, Oz the bar man and Yakup the chef will go to any lengths to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
It is situated less than 5 minutes walk from the more busy areas of the resort, but this only enhances your nights sleep, not having to put up with the racket from Bar Street, etc.
The pool and bar facilities are second to none, with more than enough poolside beds to go round.
We met many wonderful people during our stay, both Turkish and from GB, some of whom will remain friends for life.
As stated by a previous comment, the BBQ nights at the hotel are phenomenal, with Yakups chicken and Adnans Sea Bass, better than many I have tasted in so called up market restaurants here in Scotland, for a fraction of the price.
So basically to sum up, if you go to the Dost expecting 5 star accommodation and luxuries then you can forget it, however, if you go looking for a brilliant holiday with 5 star people and hotel staff, then the Dost is for you, and both I and my daughter will definitely be going back.
Just an addition to the previous thread mentioning females being threatened etc. by hotel staff, I was having a shave one of the days in a local barbers and was informed that the police had indeed been called to the hotel, but were called by hotel staff due to females attempting to bring males into the hotel and when they were informed this was illegal, the Turkish males threatened the hotel staff.
To clarify this is not Spain or similar holiday destinations. The police are very strict and can check on who are staying in a hotel day or night, which is why they copy your passport details on arrival. If other persons are found in the rooms the hotel can be closed immediately and loose their licence for good, hence the reason for the staff refusing the females permission to bring Turkish males into their rooms.
Throughout our stay we had nothing but hospitality and friendship from everyone. An excellent place to stay and recharge your batteries.

Room Tip: Decide what you want and speak to Adnan!
