Stayed at this hotel 28 June 2008 - 12 July 2008, I'm a travel agent so i was unsure what to expect as i usually stay in 4/5* hotels. I was pleasantly surprised. Baba Hotel is 3* and quite rightly so. The Poolside bar staff are so funny you could watch them all day long. (Jem and forgotten the other ones name!!) Sinbad sells the boat trip, worth going on, gets you out for a full day. Be careful which turkish bath you go to, we went to 2 different ones, the first one was brill but the 2nd one well basically we got ripped off, we paid for a foam massage and oil massage or thats what we though w paid for, but only got a foam massage anything else was extra. Check before you commit.
Baba hotel is right on the beach front and also near all the reataurants and bars. Location is excellent. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel to my clients if they want a central location and a good value for money hotel.

Also i was surprised being so central that you couldn't hear any noise from the bars when you turned in at night/early hours,

I would definately go again to Baba.

Just one slight point, the beds need better matteress and the bathroom could do we refurbing, but it was clean.

Myself and two friends have just got back from our first trip to Turkey. We have booked to go back again in September ! The Baba was lovely. Rooms basic but very clean. The cleaners (all men) changed bedding and towels every day and were helpful and polite. Breakfast and Dinner were buffet style. The breakfast was the usual things you get abroad. There was plenty of choice for your evening meal and it was all delicious ! The waiters, Serkan,Mehmet and Murat, well what can i say, friendly is putting it mildly !! They could'nt do enough for you ! The back of the hotel is right on the beach, you can lay on the FREE sun loungers and said waiters will bring your drinks over to you ! Bliss ! Simbad sells the boat trips now (previous reviews mention Roy) at the back of the hotel gates. This was excellent value for money about £10.00 from 10.30am-5.30pm. It stops at 5 places, Black Island and Camel Beach to name two. You can jump off the boat and swim, snorkles and goggles are provided. Lunch included was excellent, tea and cakes later also. The Turkish Baths are a must have, what a fantastic experience. There is nightlife in abundance, something for everyone. In all it's the best holiday we've eva had ! Try it, you'll definately go back !

i book every year for a group of 15 adults to go away, mostly we go to marmaris. this year we decided to change so gumbet seemed and sounded like a fun type of place. i booked the baba hotel through the travel agent after some delibaration between the baba and serpina, read loads of reviews about both. decided the baba was more than we needed and we were not dissapointed...i mean what more can you ask for right by the beach and the bar street!!!... fantastic pool one of the largest i have seen, the room was fine, the bathroom could do with a little TLC, but hey who lives in the room!!! very surprised that they did a cooked breakfast, the bar staff all friendly and hard working as all the staff...look out for our hat!!! at the bar...all in all we had a fantastic holiday and it went so fast..we are going to go again next year...probably with MORE people

“Can't complain!”

Baba Hotel

Jul 9, 2008

stayed at the Baba between the 29th June and 8th July. There was six girls in our group all aged 18. The hotel is in a perfect location literally 30seconds from the beach and the bar street. The swimming pool is massive and cleaned daily, there isnt really enough sun-loungers but you can usually find the odd ones. The rooms are basic but clean, quite cramped for 3 adults per room but can't complain because of the price. There are a huge variety of restaurants along the beach all serving a wide variety of english and turkish food, the staff are all very happy and willing to please. The hotel is very loud at night because of the bars being so close. Perfect for couples and groups.

The Baba hotel is rated 11 but if you look at the other hotels rated above it they have alot lower numbers of people visiting and so their score works out better BUT baba has over 100 near perfect scores so in my personal opinion that makes it the number 2 hotel to stay in at Gumbet.
On with the review now you have my view.
The Baba hotel is situated in the centre of Gumbet right next to bar street and directly on the sandy beach of Gumbet cove.
We had a top floor pool facing room and we had no problems with the noise whatsoever you can hear it slightly but it does not in anyway disturb your sleep.
The beach is just past the pool area and takes about 2 minutes to walk to from the hotel.
The rooms are what you pay for. We paid £300 each for our 2 week holiday bed and breakfast. So the flight works out to about £140 the breakfast would cost about 10 lira a day which is around £4.50 so we had a bloody brilliant deal if you ask me.
I look around very in depth before booking and after going we defo booked the right place.
The baba has a pool party on a thu evening which includes break dancers, bbq, russian revenue and belly dancing. It was fine.
If you book another hotel in the area they have very loud bars and entertainment every night till well gone 11pm so the baba worked out best for that too.
You can walk up the beach and use any of the other hotel pools and facilitys anyway whenever you like free of charge so really it doesnt matter where you book as long as you can sleep in it.
The baba offers a turkish bath which is very nice or you can take a boat trip, play snookers, enjoy a drink at the pool bar or relax for breakfast in the restaurant.
I will say the only ONE PROBLEM with baba is the breakfast it was the same everyday for 2 weeks without any change.
bland frankfurther sausages, runny scrambled egg and beans with toast or strange tasting roll things. Or the turkish breakfast which is like boiled eggs, tomatos, cucumber, black and green olives, honey, butter, choc spread, jams, tea, coffee or orange juice.
It was not good food at all but you can get a full english with all the trimmings for about 4 quid from the hotel which i thought was a bit of a **** take seeing as we paid b&b and got served the rubbish. But hey the holiday was so cheap it didnt matter cause there are many places for breakfast which sell proper english breakfasts for 2 quid ish.
The hotel is VERY clean, the drinks are strong the staff are SUPERB and so I give it top marks regardless of the breakfast.
