“An easy and relaxing hotel perfect for a sunny break away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2010

I have stayed at the Royal Asarlik Beach Hotel in Gumbet twice and enjoyed my stay both times.
The all inclusive element is great, and meant that I did not have to worry about money on my holiday, the two pools are always clean, and I always found the staff friendly and helpful.
Gumbet itself is a nice place, and as a young woman I always felt safe walking around, the men can be a little overbearing trying to get you into the shops and bars but once you tell them to go away and they begin to recognise you after a few day they do not bother you and will often just say hello.
All in all I would happily go back to Royal Asarlik a 3rd time knowing that I would be able to chill out in the sun in a nice hotel with it's own lovely private beach and an array of places to eat.

We were transferred to Royal Asarlik after our small hotel in Bodrum closed early and unexpectedly.

I was extremely unpleased to be moved from Bodrum to Gumbet when our Bodrum hotel closed after our 8-day privately guided tour and will do my best to be objective.

Royal Asarlik is a huge, sprawling, beachside, all-inclusive resort hotel that is very popular with European guests on short, inexpensive holiday. The rooms are comfortable, modern and well-appointed but they, like the entire hotel, are showing their age. Reasonably sanitary, but in great need of deep cleaning and some replacements.

The main rooftop buffet-style restaurant is overcrowded and while there is a great variety of food, I found it by far the worst on this two-month holiday and my three months of Turkish holiday in the last two years. There are on-site a la carte restaurants available with reservation, but the one (Oriental style) we used for a birthday dinner was far from exciting.

How do I say this delicately? Gumbet in general and Royal Asarlik in particular made me think I was in London if it had a Mediterranean climate. Gumbet is NOT Turkey.

I could not recommend Royal Asarlik to anyone from the U.S. as there are far better places in every price range to enjoy a TURKISH holiday. For a short, inexpensive, family holiday from Europe (and Great Britain in particular) at a rated five-star resort, I say, "You could do worse."

Hotel clean and staff very friendly. Check in was fast and efficient. Porters escorted us to our rooms.Tips are expected but we had no change but we were treated no differently.Food was very good and a great choice everyday. sometimes repetative but there was always something. Breakfasts were good fresh food prepared while you wait. Waiters at all servings were excellent especially Zeynel who looked after us all very very well. The staff at the pool bar were all good especially Jonny Depp who my 11 year old daughter adored! Entertainment team entertaining! With there ZAMA ZAMA! Beach just a two minute stroll away. Our rooms were kept clean and tidy. We went october half term and did not leave the hotel. Had a lovely chilling week weather good untill last day when we had thunderstorms. Staff rushed around as breakfast was being served so they could seat everyone indoors out of the rain. The views from the resturant were spectacular!

Great hotel in a great location, staff
are very friendly and will do anything to help, never had a single problem, food was great, lots of choice, and i do mean lots, drinks were plently strong and service was great, id recomend this holiday to anyone except for those who expect bacon, egg n chips for lunch every day when traveling abroad.
When we went in august their was not a cloud in the sky throughout our stay and the weather was amazing, be carefull when venturing out though in the heat of the day as the sun soon gets to you if your not carefull, all in all an amazing and memorable holiday

i am 25, i went on my hols my friend and his parents. i will start with the food, there was alot of choice's, but if like me and you do not like to be too daring and try new things then you may go abit hungery for your stay, there is always something i liked tho, the bars are all free if you are going all-in they serve effes the local beer which is brill, but same again the one thing to let it down was the football sports bar was not free! there are two pools there one is a nice pool with rocks and a fountian and not much other than very small kids and the older poeple which was good becuse you can play games in the other pool and be a bit louder, there is an entertainement staff round this pool who are brill, they run games allday and unless you are strong minded they will have you dancing at the pool side to turkish music, but that as all good fun. on a night tie there is diffrent events on every night of the week in there own amphitheater, some of the show are a bit cheesy but you go with the flow because you are on your holls, after that one of the bars stays open 24hrs and in there you can a bread roll and some cheese and ham. moving into the town there are alot of othere bars and hotels that you can go into on a night, however as i did once youhave allthings payed for at your hotel you begrudge paying for a drink (about £2.50 for 500ml) in the town. i would go again any time, i hav given it only four stars because, well there is always some where better, but for the area i would of given it a 5.

When we booked we were not advised that the hotel would be closing down around us as the week progressed. Half term in October - most expensive week - but facilities were being closed. Restaurants, bars, sun loungers packed away and beach towels unavaiable. Service was OK but basic. Resort was closed down also.
