“short but lovely trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

The Spa is lovely and very reasonable. Ask for Adem for the Hamman and Madi For Balinese massage. They really put you at ease and the oils they use for the massage left me smelling amazing and super smooth

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

I stayed at Royal Asarlik for 2 weeks in August, and liked the hotel so much that I came back for 2 more weeks in October. When I came back the staff was very welcoming, and they remembered me from my first trip. I appreciated that very much! The hotel advertise themselves as a 5 star hotel, but I think 4 star would be more correct.

The food is good and varied, and everyone should be able to find something they like at the buffet in the restaurant at the 6th floor. It´s a great view from the restaurant over Gumbet bay. In the mornings there are late breakfast from 10 - 11. Unfortunately they stop making omelett and fried eggs before 10 o´clock. When breakfast is until 11 you should be able to get the same food as the early breakfast-guest...

The location is great; right at the beach, just a 5 minute walk to the barstreet, and 10 minutes with taxi/Dolmus to Bodrum. The hotel has a private beach with free sunbeds and towels for the guests. There is also security working 24/7, so we felt very safe at Royal Asarlik.

The staff at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately some of them do not speak or understand english at all. That should be mandatory at an international hotel in my opinion. If you need anything, like towels, water or getting your room made up, then just call the reception and they help you immediately.

The activityteam at the hotel are great! Very nice and funny people working there, and they have activities during daytime and evenings. They have karaoke- and bingonights, comedyshows, competitions, dartgame, waterpolo and they arrange trips to big nightclubs and barstreet. They always make you feel welcome and they talk to everyone without being pushy.

The hotel has it own Spa that is worth a visit! I had a lot of treatments there, and everyone should have a Hamam (turkish bath) when they arrive, and before they go home. Will give you the best tan possible :) I also recommend the massages, they are great! Clean and professional surroundings, and very nice staff!

All in all this is one of my favoritehotels. I did not like Turkey too much before staying at here, but now I love it!! Don´t think I will go other places in Turkey again after visiting Royal Asarlik! My friends that travelled with me also loved the hotel, and we will definately go back. I recommend this hotel to everyone :)

Room Tip: Do not stay at ground floor....Ask for a room "up in the heights".

This could be a 4 star hotel, it should definitely not be 5 star. The position is lovely, with 2 small beaches and 2 pools, a 10 minute taxi ride to the centre of Bodrum.
The food was very good, huge choice, the rooftop dining area had gorgeous views, but was in bad need of a facelift, it looked like a scholl diningroom!!
Our room had torn sheets, the curtains were falling down, and the bathroom lights weren't working, but this was all fixed after complaining.
Ask for a sea facing room. For the price we paid it was good value, as everything was included.

Excellent location, very clean. Beautiful views of bay from main restaurant on sixth floor . Very good choice of food but could have been hotter. Room overlooking sea - again lovely view. Rooms kept very clean. Would return.

Check in:
Check in was quick and confusing as the reception staff spoke not one word of english whilst talking obviously about me and my partner and what room we was to go in. No information was given about the hotel.

Room:
We had a superior sea view room. Yes it had a flat screen television (with about 2 english channels) and a kettle provided but the standard rooms in the main building looked so much better. The bed was two single beds pushed together and was not nice to sleep on. Apart from that the bathroom was modern and clean along with the bedroom, when the cleaners decided to do there job.

Food:
All i have to say here is that we spent £800 on eating out for 1 week as the food and the 'canteen' area is awful, no cutlery, no service and the food was awful so we decided not to go there ever again.

Facilities:
The spa is something that you have to pay a visit to, the turkish bath along with the bronzing massage are amazing. We never used the pool's as people are like vulture's and put there towels down at 7am. The beach was a nice place to chill though when the security guard was not pestering us to see our royal asarlik bands! You can also use the steam and sauna in the spa free of charge which was nice.

Location:
It is out of the way but not to far which was a nice touch. Far to many stray animals though which was sad to see.

I would never go back to this hotel based on the food and the ignorant rude staff but i suppose you pay for what you get and £1150 was not bad for two adults for one week.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building and as high up as you can get. If not the superior section is ni...

My boyfriend and I stayed here the first week in October and after reading some of the reviews and the bargain I got when i booked this hotel I was a little worried. However, we had a fab time at this hotel and will definately be coming back in the future.

When we arrived in the early hours of the morning the staff were quick to get us checked in and shown to our room. The room was modern and clean and actually had a proper double bed as opposed to two singles pushed together. Our balcony looked out onto a small court yard bit which wasnt great but for the amount of time we spent in the room we really werent bothered. The maids cleaned the room ever day and changed the bed covers/towels twice (at least).

The buffet resturant was brilliant. Serves a whole selection of foods every lunch/evening meal and not once did we get bored. We were so happy with it that we didnt even book any of the a la carte resturants. If we had stayed for two weeks we probably would of just for a change.

Both pool areas are great, plenty of sunbeds and bars. We were all inclusive so all the local booze was included and one ofthe bars was 24hrs (Great for us being in our early 20's and wanting to stay up till all hours) Bar streets a 5 minute walk away if you fancy a change although a bit pricy but you get all the proper booze, coronas, real malibu, smirnoff etc.

We used the hotel spa for a turkish bath on our first day and got the full package - turkish bath, massage, face mask thing etc. It was great and would definately reccomend using it! Plus it was very reasonably priced.

All in all we really enjoyd our stay here and would 100% recommend it to couples and families! The only thing that annoyed me was some of the younger staff started waving a tip box about towards the end of our stay which I think is really rude!!! However most of the staff were friendly and polite and made our stay very enjoyable!

Room Tip: If your not happy with your room, tell reception! If they have an alternative available they will be...
