“would recommend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

stayed at this hotel in june, found it to be pretty much really good. did have a couple of issues, one light fitting was a bit wobbly and the shower took forever to get to a usable temperature.

that aside though everything was great, the rooms were cleaned regualrly, the bar is open all the time, the pool is really clean, the staff are really attentive and constantly tidying up. there are plenty of sun loungers to relax on and the pool is fine. they do bar food which is nice and also reasonably priced.

to be fair to a couple of reviews below this isnt the hotel to go to if you are looking for a great night sleep, it is really close close to the strip (which suited us) but that means it is noisy.

they really dont like you bringing food into the hotel but to be fair thy dont charge a fortune for what they sell.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We enjoyed it anyway.

I booked a trip to Hotel Can as a cheap, last minute deal with my partner. Our visit was for 8 days towards the end of June, before the busy school holiday period. After booking the holiday through Club 18-30s I was somewhat apprehensive about what I may find upon arriving in Gumbet, as I am not one for 24/7 partying holidays. After getting home and checking out reviews on TripAdvisor I was even more apprehensive about the holiday. Needless to say I thought I would stick by my choice and I do not regret it one bit!

The hotel is situated about 5 minutes walk from the centre of Gumbet and 10 minutes from the beach. It has a good range of activities on offer such as darts, garden gym, snooker, table tennis, satellite TV (showing sporting events when on - although we weren't bothered with this), free wi-fi and a bar / restaurant. The food and drink are priced as you would expect in a hotel however the meal portions could have been a bit bigger. In the pool area you will find two pools, one for adults and one for kids and some fun games equipment to keep people of all ages entertained. For sun worshipers (like ourselves) there are plenty of comfortable loungers available close to the bar & pool so you are only a few steps from a drink or a dive away from cooling down in the 40 degree heat.

Our hotel room was very basic as it was in the 18-30s section of the hotel. Although this was the case the room was clean and tidy and had what we needed for a holiday base for the week... A double & single bed with cotton sheets, a wardrobe with a few hangers, dressing table with mirror and a shower room with sink & toilet. The only thing extra that we would have liked was a hair dryer but we were able to borrow one from reception on two of three occasions my partner required one.

We also made use of the air conditioning which costs TRY5.00 per day which was well worth it due to the heat in Turkey! Safety deposit boxes were also available from reception for TRY2.50 per day. I would highly recommend purchasing both on your arrival.

During our stay we became aware that the hotel was split accommodation was split into two parts. One contained the basic club 18-30s rooms and the other better quality, modern and well maintained accommodation for guests booking directly with the hotel. Understandably I can see why the whole hotel is not of the higher quality rooms and this is due to the high wear and tear that is sometimes caused by the lively people you may find on such 18 - 30s holidays.

I didn't get chance to look properly around these rooms but upon glancing I noticed LCD TVs, laminate flooring and tasteful decorating.

Overall our stay at Hotel Can was very good and I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff! It wasn't too busy which made it very enjoyable and relaxing, nor was it too quiet that it got boring. If you are looking for a cheap holiday base that has everything that you need, I would recommend a stay at Hotel Can.

See you on our next visit to Gumbet!

Room Tip: Book directly with the hotel for better rooms. Basic rooms are provided for Club 18-30s guests.

Overall my experience of the Can hotel was a good one. I travelled with 2 other girls and we were aged 20-22.

Our room was good, 3 single beds, very clean, tv for free, paid an extra 70 lira (approx 25 pounds) for aircon for the week which was definitely worth it. Maid service most days, good apart from one day we had one dirty towel given to us by mistake. New toilet roll every day or so. Shower pretty basic. Overall pretty good and what we expected (apart from lack of cooking equipment). By the looks of things other rooms were a bit varied and not all have the aircon option.

The pool area although fairly small was ample for the amount of guests and had a friendly feel. There was a raised decking area (about 15ft in the air) with loads of cushions which was awesome and lots of loungers around the pool area. Also a small diving board and a surf board which is constantly floating round the pool provided a bit of entertainment! The music was generally quite good and as most of the guests her are on 18-30 holidays this lively atmosphere went down quite well. Had a ping pong table which was good when you want to kill some time and a nice shaded area with a swinging chair etc. (and a bit of gym equipment but didn't see anyone using it so not sure if it's available to the public)

The continental breakfast was not quite as bad as some reviews on here and to be honest the local Turkish people absolutely loved it but was not to my taste. Overall if you get there at 8am it is all looking very fresh but goes downhill by the end of Breakfast at 10am slightly. There are eggs, tomatoes, cucumber, some sort of meat, stoned olives, white cheese and most importantly BREAD! We literally survived on this bread all week and it nursed our hangovers just about! Something we foinf out on our stay is that bread is free in Turkey and that is all you need to know haha!

We didn't try any other food served by the hotel but explored the restaurant strip instead (with mixed results!). Best place we found was a restaurant on the beach front that served the most amazing fresh made burgers, beautiful fruit salads and fresh fruit cocktails and smoothies, cannot remember the name but it stands out because the staff don't hassle you! It is on the right if you're facing the sea just before the set of pink sunloungers.

The main problems we had with the holiday were relating to Thomas Cook giving us misleading information about the hotel rather than the hotel itself - we were under the impression that (as we asked for a self catering holiday) that there would be some cooking facilities but to our dismay there was nothing at all, so no fridge, kettle, and cooker proved a bit tricky on our limited budget. Anyway as I say this was the travel agents fault as the hotel does not advertise these services but just to make it clear to future holiday go-ers so they don't make the same mistake! :) ALSO..... you are not allowed to bring food and/or water into the hotel but "must" buy it at the hotel bar despite it being double the cost....(needless to say we just snuck it in in a large beach bag). So therefore there are no utensils in the rooms - by this I mean not even a single cup!

Overall the staff were very friendly, especially a young 19 year old guy who made an effort and socialised with holiday goers in the evening. Also we were offered to extend the hotel room checkout to suit or flight times for an additional 20 pounds (60 lira) which was useful.

Finally if you want an 18-30 experience this is a small friendly hotel and not the crazy atmosphere you might be expecting, great for couples / groups that want to go and have fun without relying on hotel / rep entertainment.

Good hotel :)

Room Tip: Our room was opposite the bar and wasn't too noisy, also ensure that the room has aircon before...

Just arrived back from this hotel after reading th reviews myself and 6 friends were dreading the holiday . The hotel management are really nice especially Grace who will help you with anything that you need . There is also a bar man called Matt who can speak very fluent english and is also very helpful . The hotel is very clean the maids clean your room each day and the rooms are nice for the price you pay for the holiday. The pool area is really nice with sun loungers and also huge bean bags to sunbathe on . The pool bar is open 24 hours a day and if you get back from the strip and want a drink one of the staff will open it for you without hesitation . The only downfall to the hotel would be that they do not allow you to take your own food and drink in from outside the hotel i.e bottles of vodka , cans of coke etc but we took a beach bag and sneaked it in just be careful not to get caught ... The hotel is literally 2 minutes away from the strip of night life and if your english id stay in shakers, temple and the FRONT of pasha bar .. The back of pasha is full of turkish men who dont seem to understand no and posh club is also full of turkish men ... The nightlife is really good songs arent really current but still a really good night ... Would definatley go back to the hotel can but would not go back to turkey as the local men are a but too much ...

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms on the reception side of the hotel .. much nicer

By far the most shocking hotel I have ever been to.
I love to holiday and book several cheap holidays per year all low budget all I ask is that I feel safe and the rooms are clean.

Our room: very little light in the room, one small window with bars on, very little space in the room- felt as though I was in a prison or a dungeon. No balcony or terrace.
The sheets smelt and unclean and we witnessed bed sheets being washed in a bucket of water outside.

The bathroom was clean however the shower was not raised and therefore the whole room would have been sodden.

The noise from outside eg dustcarts and traffic was horrendous and sleep disturbing.

The atmosphere at the hotel was generally just one of a v long hangover and understandably you would have to be v drunk to spend the night there.

The rep there was friendly enough albeit slightly annoying.
Did not feel safe for a single moment we were there.

Absolutely hated every single minute we stayed there. Understand it's cheap but there are reasonably priced hotels in Gumbet which are lovely.

Feel physically sick thinking about the hotel.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, ever.

Here you will find friendly staff, spacious rooms, and a decent swimming pool.

There are safe boxes in reception, which are very handy..

Drinks are cheap and there is a pool table in the bar..

If you are travelling through Gumbett, Bodrum this hotel is a must visit..
