We had a great 3 night stay at Macakizi. Stunning hotel and beach deck area with beautiful settings, beach, rooms, service and people. The beach deck is amazing to experience and the best in Turkbuku, a real scene but very relaxing during the day, even as the bar area turns into a quasi-club during sunset happy hours (which i loved). Rooms are minimal and simple and fit the surroundings well, although not all rooms have been upgraded and i was surprised at how ancient some of the amenities were for the prices charged (ie tv). Important to note our room did get a lot of noise/music late at night from the bars/clubs in the main bay area, and we needed ear plugs to sleep. We had a fantastic time and would recommend Macakizi for those looking for a fun/bohemian/trendy/boutique hotel, but agree it's not for everyone.

Room Tip: I assume the rooms further away from the main bay area would not be as affected by the music/noise o...

I loved my stay at Macakizi! My Husband and I were there for 3 nights at the end of Aug/early Sept. We missed the craziness and experienced a very lovely, casual beach- chic vacation. It's bohemian. My room was very simple and clean, comfortable but not luxurious (we did not have a renovated room- #601)- our bathroom was very small but clean. I can understand some people would have an issue with the room but the room fits the vibe of the resort. The resort itself was beautiful. Again, nothing is over the top luxurious, it is a simply beautiful resort that has AMAZING food! Breakfast, lunch & dinner- we never left the resort. The beach club area is great- the music is going and it is not too loud and you just feel like you are on vacation. No sand beach just cool docks that have lounge pads lined all along the edge. The drinks are pricey however the quality of the fresh fruit juice/mixers etc... was like no where else I have been (and we have traveled to some very high end resorts).FYI- the wine list is the MOST reasonably priced list we saw anywhere in Turkey. We experienced very good service- not overly friendly but very nice. This is a place where you can tell that most of the clients are repeat clients and when we were there it was nice to see that most of the guests were Turkish. I would definitely return to Macakizi- it's the kind of the place you either LOVE or you just don't get it.

Just went to Macakizi. The hotel is a very pretty property set at one end of Turkbuku Bay. Rooms a bit bland as they are done up in all white, but that is the style motif they are going for. The bathroom in our junior suite was a bit gross: mildew and stains all over

There are no proper sandy beaches in Turkbuku, just a series of beach clubs. The hotel's beach club is the best: a beautifully laid out wooden deck in a relatively private area of the bay. The staff are mingling about, some more helpful and attentive than others. In the off season, the music was pleasant and not too obnoxious as I've heard it can be in peak season. The could randomize it a bit more (we heard the same tunes over-and-over), but that is a minor complaint

What is a major complaint is the absolutely **rip-off** prices at the bar / restaurant at the beach club. Admittedly, you're a captive audience when there. But I have never seen pricing gouging that high in all my extensive travels for work and pleasure. I'd strongly recommend visitors buy a few liter bottles of water for their visit from the town

The crowd in the off-season was nice and relaxed. We've heard from friends who have visited in the peak-season that the crowd is quite more high maintenance. I'm glad to have avoided that as our trip was more R&R oriented

Front desk made some errors on our bill at the end of the trip (erroneous charges). Annoying but they corrected them (unfortunately, they corrected them after charging my credit card)

So overall, as I was looking for some great water and a pretty and private property, I got what I wanted. But I dont think I'd go when the hotel is too packed as the likely lack of service attention coupled with the ridiculously high prices would make is less than appealing

I visited Macakizi in early August this year for 4 days. The room overlooking the bay had an excellent view, the staff was very helpful and friendly. The music during the day was great, relaxing and not loud in the afternoon and some vibes in the evening.
Resort was very quite at night so we could have a good sleep, but also there are a lot of places for dancing or clubbing nearby, ie Maki29 at just 5 minutes walking distance.
Food is also very good, and the breakfast is to die for.
Macakizi has the best beach in a resort, with crystal clear waters and a stunning view.
Sure, I'll be visiting next year.

The hotel still looks very nice. The little bungalows are nicely arranged and integrated into the vegetation. The beach is beautiful and the restaurant AMAZING. Great views and great food. But... the rooms are way too expensive for what you get. Our room was not renovated and had mold in the shower. The service is very basic. I personally think that the hotel is too expensive for what it is. Pretentious. Yes, you'll see celebrities and wanna be celebrities. But you can get better service and location for less in Bodrum. If comfort and service is what you are looking for, avoid this hotel. If you want to see Russian tycoons, then book a room. And if you just want to enjoy the view and the food, book a table.

Room Tip: Get a renovated room! Although they are way more expensive.

Dear Jymi,
Many thanks for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that a few elements of your stay were deceiving.
With regards to comfort, please be informed that this winter we will be completing major renovation works therefore from the summer 2013 all our hotel guests will be enjoying brand new rooms featuring Bose AV equipment, tailored made ethnically-inspired bed runners and pillows from Turkish designer Rifat Özbek, and other high quality amenities.
As for this season’s price difference between renovated and non-renovated rooms please note that during peak season there was a € 80 difference between Sea Front renovated and non-renovated rooms, whereas for the Sea View Junior Suite category, the renovated room is only € 55 more extra.
It is regrettable that you felt the atmosphere at Macakizi is pretentious, our clientele is sophisticated and chic, the right mixture between Turkish and international guests, often described as very friendly and familial.
We hope to host you again soon.
Kind Regards,
Aysegul DOGAN

What a wonderful piece of paradise on the Turkish Riveria. Macakizi is a seculed oasis set in a hillside in Bodrum overlooking the Mediterranean. With private hidden rooms that maintain your privacy, but a beautiful view of the water. Lounge all day at the waters edge with outstanding service at the ready. Happy pleasant waiters and service partners every where. How could everyone not be happy when you are in heaven. With white-white rooms and comfy laid back style, the room is quiet and serene. The morni g breakfast is outstanding with an abundance of fresh, fresh choices - cheese, fresh baked breads of every kind, and the largest bowls of summers fresh fruits. The. Her will make you anything g you want Nd do it with a happy smile. The lunch buffet was equally yummy. My personal favorite was the the fresh almond milk the chef made to accommodate a dairy allergy. Yes, fresh also d milk made from fresh almonds just for me. Now that's service above and beyond. If you have a chance to come to Turkey, don't stay any where other the Macakizi.

Slightly pretentious, rooms were good (we stayed in the sea view room but not worth what they were charging). Pool is nothing much to rave about, highlight would probably be the breakfast (egg station). Service could be better overall.

Tip: Do NOT take the water from the fridge; those are chargeable although, they are EXACTLY the same as the ones that are complementary but not refrigerated.

Dear Brokenmap,
Many thanks for your comments.
We regret you felt that the overall value was not worth the money you paid. As mentioned in reply to other trip advisor reviews, Macakizi hotel will be undergoing major transformations and renovations from this fall until it reopens in April 2013. All the rooms will be refurbished and different areas of the hotel such as the reception and the swimming pool will be completely redone. From next summer our guests will be enjoying a newly designed infinity edge pool which will offer twice the water surface of the existing one.
With regards to housekeeping, please note that two complimentary bottle of mineral water are placed every day in all rooms during the turndown service, whereas all the refrigerated items are chargeable as per our mini bar menu.
We hope this is of assistance and look forward to hosting you again.
Kind Regards,
Aysegul DOGAN
