When we arrived in Bitez we were disappointed as it was not the undiscovered town that many reviews led us to believe. The hotel is set behind a long row of restaurants and bars which are on the edge of the beach. These are open day and night with staff constantly perstering you to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner there and anytime inbetween to drink there or use their beach beds.
The beach is set in a pretty bay but is covered in beach beds which do ruin the unspoilt view somewhat and are placed very closely to one another. (sardines spring to mind)
Along the beach are some lovely bars and restaurants but many are expensive to eat at and those who like to drink anything other than beer are caught out with shorts and mixers costing on average £6-8. We found that eating down the side streets more reasonable and better for trying proper Turkish cuisine.
Aside all this the Sah Hotel is like a little oasis to escape to when in need of some peace. The hotel is small and is set around a lovely pool and well kept grounds. It is very clean and modern. All the staff are extremely friendly and eager to please. Our room was a delux double which was large and had a lovely bathroom. Initially i was disappointed as the decor was nothing as special as the rooms advertised (no white four poster bed) however, it was fresh and adequate.
Breakfast in the morning is set on their lovely patio which over looks the pool. It consists of a continental style;cheese, ham, salad, bread and cereal. This comes with a choice of tea or coffee, no juice or water. After a week this did become a bit dull.
One downside of the hotel being so close to the beach, restaurants and bars meant that it was noisy with loud music being played all night (literally) especially from the Sah Bar, which is not a part of the hotel just shares the name. We kept the air con on all night and had to use ear plugs to get any sleep. This had not been mentioned before on other reviews so not sure if its a new bar or whether it was because our room was the closest (no 6).
Along the beach are lots of places to book day trips and excursions (another source of constant pestering) which are very reasonable, unfortunately many involve 3-4 hour transfer time just to get there and are very long days.
On the whole this was a lovely hotel and we enjoyed our stay but felt very disappointed with Bitez as a holiday destination. We had been to Turkey previously and wanted to explore more but will not being going back to this particular town.
