Just back from two week break at Sah hotel Bitez Turkey. Was very apprehensive about trip as never been to this part of world before, but we had a really great time. Hotel room very spacious, mainly quiet apart from calls to prayer at 4.45 in morning but soon got used to that, only other noise was when Turkey won football. Staff were friendly and helpful. Pool was great and for most of the time we were only ones using it.but would not recommend it for children as no shallow end. Sunbeds free but staff check if you need drinks from time to time. We were warned about restaurant staff pestering you but we found if you spared time to listen to banter you got menu with 15% off and once you ate at that restaurant they treated you as friends and did not pester again. Although we tried a variety of restaurants such as New Season, CJ's Sultans And lovely Chinese and Hares on the sea front we found the restaurants out the back such as La Vas and Pedesas more traditional Turkish and a lot cheaper! We would definately go again but perhaps earlier as we were not expecting temperatures to be so high, one day it reached 50. and was mostly in 40's. We had a day trip to Kos catching ferry from Bodrum,a boat trip is a must if you like swimming in beautiful clear water. We say hello to John at CJ's who kept offering us drinks but we never got round to taking him up on it and the staff at Hares who we did have a few with. Also to antonio at BBC who eventually sold us a boat trip. A big THANKYOU to the staff at the Sah for making it a most enjoyable trip.

We have just returned from two weeks at the Sah Hotel. Before departing we had read the reviews posted on this site and arrived with some trepidation, expecting basic hotel rooms, disappointing breakfasts, loud music late in to the night, high rise hotel and apartments, pushy waiters dragging us into restaurants and bars and a beach littered with beds and no sign of sand.

Thankfully we can report that our concerns never materialised.

The Sah Hotel is what a hotel should be like - small and intimate with hotel staff who will do anything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Sure the breakfast didn't provide michelin rated food but there was sufficient variety to keep even the most awkward of eater content. The rooms were not appointed with plasma screen tvs and whirlpool baths but they were clean, spacious (we too had a deluxe room and had also heard that the standard rooms were smaller - but then you get what you pay for!) and comfortable.

We stayed in room 6 (as did a previous reviewer) and there was some music in the evenings, none of it so loud as to keep you awake at night unless you are the lightest of sleepers - but it is a tourist resort after all.

Bitez, as resorts go, is fairly quiet, it is not perhaps as sleepy as the brochure would suggest, but there are no night clubs and only the odd bar. There are plenty of restaurants to chose from ,all serving more than the burger and pizzas that I noticed one previous reviewer rather disingenuously suggested was the case. In fact there is food to suit all tastes from traditional turkish (I highly recommend the Istanbul restaurant) to freshly caught fish, steak, pasta, chinese and any other type of food that you can think of.

You can expect to be 'encouraged' to eat at particular restaurants by staff but it is all done in a light hearted way and we found that by engaging in some banter with them we ended up getting discounts on our bill and free wine and coffee - so rather than strolling past with a disdainful look on your face as we saw many people do (and as evidenced by earlier reviewers) you would be wise to stop and negotiate yourself a bargain!

We found the beach fine and spent most of our days there - there are a lot of beds and I am sure that it would be overcrowded in the height of summer - but we found it a relatively pleasant place to relax in the sun where you can be waited on by friendly staff.

So overall we found Bitez and the Sah Hotel a fantastic place for a holiday and were keen to redress the balance of other less than complimentary reviews that have appeared here

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Sah Hotel in Bitez. The hotel is an oasis within the heart of the town and a real haven if you are looking for peace & quiet. We had a deluxe room which was huge and had a really good sized shower & bathroom. Unfortunately some of the other guests who we got to know were staying in the standard rooms which are very small and they were struggling for space (they couldn't use the mirror at the same time in the bathroom, there was no room to move around the bed) and consequently they either had to upgrade to deluxe rooms or even move to a different hotel altogether. The staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and very helpful, anything we asked for they did their best to provide. We did hear a rumour that the hotel was going to be managed by a different travel company (we think it was First Choice) and also that children were going to be allowed to stay as of Summer 2008. Personally we don't think the hotel is large enough to allow small people and also the swimming pool is not child friendly. This is something you may want to check before booking if you want to escape the noise of little ones running around!! Bitez itself was extremely quiet but then it was nearing the end of the season. You do feel like you have to run the gauntlet every time you walk along the seafront as the restaurants are very keen to draw you in. We found that the restuarants behind the main street were less pushy and also a lot cheaper. The beach in Bitez could probably be quite busy during peak season and as per other reviews there are just hundreds of beds which gives the appearance of sardines squeezed together so we decided to stay by the pool at the hotel where we would also not feel like we had to have lunch and buy drinks all the time. We don't usually go back to the same place twice (there are just too many places to see in the world!) but we can highly recommend Bitez and the Sah Hotel for all those who have yet to give it a go! Happy Holidays!

Upon arrival the Sah Hotel seems very peaceful and picturesque within the confines of it's walls.
It is a small hotel with only 12 rooms and centres around a reasonable sized pool which is well maintained.

My wife & I were looking for a quiet, peaceful reatreat as we are expecting our first baby, I would like to point out at this point we are by no means boring & lifeless but the week of our holiday was far from from peaceful and realxing ( which is what we were advised by Sovereign we would be getting)

As you can read from other reviews the hotel is very close to many restaurants and bars on the beach front of which you can hear music well into the early hours. Our irritaion was compounded by the fact our room (No:4) was directly above an internet cafe which happens to be open 24 hours a day. The continual thud of bass lines continued to reverberate up in to the room at all hours. Despite alerting the porter, hotel management and the sovereign Rep this peristsed all week.

The rooms are very sparce in decor and what I would consider basic, they are well kept and clean. The bed matress was extremely hard so if you have a back probelm this is great news, however my wife is 5 months pregnant and this caused us sleeping difficulties.

Upon the sea front you are continually hounded by the numerous bars & restaurants to use thier facilities which grates after a while. It was not particauarly exspensive but most of the restuarants sell the same boring old things, Burgers, pizzas, etc.....

To sum up our experince is one of disapointment. We paid £1600 for a weeks holiday through an exclusive travel agent for what we thought would be peaceful & relaxing, we just wished we had spent it going else where. Bitez is not quiet and secluded, it is literally on the door step of Bodrum ( where night clubs & bars are every other outlet). If you are looking for a relaaxing quiet holiday I would not recommend Hotel Sah OR Bitez!

“Lovely hotel but....”

Sah Hotel

When we arrived in Bitez we were disappointed as it was not the undiscovered town that many reviews led us to believe. The hotel is set behind a long row of restaurants and bars which are on the edge of the beach. These are open day and night with staff constantly perstering you to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner there and anytime inbetween to drink there or use their beach beds.

The beach is set in a pretty bay but is covered in beach beds which do ruin the unspoilt view somewhat and are placed very closely to one another. (sardines spring to mind)

Along the beach are some lovely bars and restaurants but many are expensive to eat at and those who like to drink anything other than beer are caught out with shorts and mixers costing on average £6-8. We found that eating down the side streets more reasonable and better for trying proper Turkish cuisine.

Aside all this the Sah Hotel is like a little oasis to escape to when in need of some peace. The hotel is small and is set around a lovely pool and well kept grounds. It is very clean and modern. All the staff are extremely friendly and eager to please. Our room was a delux double which was large and had a lovely bathroom. Initially i was disappointed as the decor was nothing as special as the rooms advertised (no white four poster bed) however, it was fresh and adequate.

Breakfast in the morning is set on their lovely patio which over looks the pool. It consists of a continental style;cheese, ham, salad, bread and cereal. This comes with a choice of tea or coffee, no juice or water. After a week this did become a bit dull.

One downside of the hotel being so close to the beach, restaurants and bars meant that it was noisy with loud music being played all night (literally) especially from the Sah Bar, which is not a part of the hotel just shares the name. We kept the air con on all night and had to use ear plugs to get any sleep. This had not been mentioned before on other reviews so not sure if its a new bar or whether it was because our room was the closest (no 6).

Along the beach are lots of places to book day trips and excursions (another source of constant pestering) which are very reasonable, unfortunately many involve 3-4 hour transfer time just to get there and are very long days.

On the whole this was a lovely hotel and we enjoyed our stay but felt very disappointed with Bitez as a holiday destination. We had been to Turkey previously and wanted to explore more but will not being going back to this particular town.
