I returned from 14 days at the Makumba Summer Garden on 25th and I am afraid that my experience of the bar staff was totally different from Sydenydoodle's.
The premises themselves are very nice, convenient for the beach and on the Bodrum dolmus route.
The reception, maintenence and cleaning staff were all very nice and helpful.
The bar staff when I was there were the most appaling people I have ever met. They made a game of ignoring some residents, although if there was a large group of residents the bar staff were literally all over them.
They seemed intent in making individuals and couples feel uncomfortable.
I was pointedly ignored in the bar three times, once food I had ordered with my wife was left to cool on the cooking area counter while two barmen gossiped and presumably ignored me.
After the Turkish Night I found it impossible to get my bill from the staff and as a result I walked out of the bar area.
They soon noticed this and caught up with me waving a bill(the wrong one as it turned out)demanding payment.
I then involved reception staff and compained about the conduct of the bar staff.
This resulted in a written apology from the manager and a gift of fruit and wine.
It did nothing to improve the behaviour of the bar staff who appeared to be out of the control of management and did exactly as they pleased including playing their choice of music very, very loudly. This music was Turkish and seemed to be tribal drumming.
After 4 days of this I spent my time and money elsewhere.
