I stayed in this hotel in August this year and i was very unhappy as soon as we arrived. It was late at night and the hotel was pitch black with a young boy working in a hut(reception) only about 14. He showed us to our room which was awful to say the least. The carpets which were so dirty didnt fit the floor. the bed linen had holes in it and was very old. It was that dirty i slept in my jeans and jumper(very hot in august). We stayed there for 2 days and i felt very unsafe we stayed in gumbet for 2 weeks but moved to the agar apartments which were fantastic.
The Kalender would not be my choice of hotel and the pictures availble on the internet dont show to what extent how bad it was. In the pool front rooms between the pool and the room there is about a 1 meter drop which is so unsafe when your either drunk from a night out or slippy in the days from people getting out of the pool. This is not for families, couples even group holidays. i would say it is a hostel and at a push would maybe suit a back packer with very low standards/expectations
The owners of this hotel are so nice and i felt really bad moving hotels but it really was that bad......

I cannot believe anybody would want to stay here! This is the worst hotel I have "nearly" stayed in! When I arrived I was ignored at reception and then was given the key to a room of another guest because they thought I had already booked in. The whole exterior of the hotel was nothing like the lovely photos as the paintwork was peeling from most of the windows. The ladders were coming away from the side of the pool when anybody tried to eixt the pool. I arrived mid afternoon and was told that my room was not ready but I could leave my bag whilst my room was prepared. When somebody eventually came to show me to my room I was taken up a very steep narrow staircase which was difficult to navigate even though I am a fit and able man. I passed a cleaner leaving my room and then encountered one person getting dressed in my room and another who was using the shower. The room was very basic and didn't look at all welcoming. I relucatntly left my bag and faced the steep staircase again. I didn't feel comfortable leaving my bag in a room of strangers who were apparantly related to other staff. I decided not to stay and to look for alternative accomodation. I was amazed to be told that I would have to pay for one nights accommodation but it was a relief just to be able to escape a near miss!

The best hotel in Turkey by far. Hotel Kalendar is a very nice hotel with a great swimmingpool and rooms. Will recommend it to other people visiting Bodrum. Amazing staff, clean, safe and secure place. They know everyones name and make sure you are happy. Great atmosphere and very good meeting place of other travellers.Food was great! Home cooked BBQ and Turkish food. Much cheaper than in town. The Manager Murtaza and his staff really made our stay at Hotel Kalender memorable and enjoyable. I have to come back to Bodrum and I will stay here again. If you go to Bodrum don't stay anywhere else.
