We booked two weeks in the fuga to have a relaxing break. Well, it was definitely relaxing and we would return as the resort / hotel itself is just stunning, the hotel is immaculate - your rooms are cleaned every day, the quality of the food is v high and the facilities available in the day are great. Like everyone else has said the cushions around the jetty and the pool are lovely. The staff are really friendly and although there is a really steep hill, they provide both a panoramic lift and shuttle bus regularly to make this easier.

However, we found a couple of draw backs as did several other couples we met up with:

- There is absolutely NO evening entertainment, except on two nights (out of 14) they had a live band in the bar for an hour or so (but weren't great).

- There are a lot of extra's - fresh juice, ice-cream, drinks at the mongolian restaurant, drinks after 12, cocktails, drinks in the mini bar as well as the usual imported drinks which you expect.

- The other 'a la carte' restaurant is closed until June (which we didn't know until we arrived) and you only have one go at the mongolian despite this.

- The food in the main restaurant, although the quality is good - it is repeadative - really repeadative - Turkey, egg plant, tomato spaghetti and stir fry and served every night - it became a joke amongst the couples we socialised with re: the amount of turkey and stir fry that was served daily (lunch and dinner)

- The food at the beach bar is nice and breaks up having to go to the main restaurant 3 times a day but is only open until 4 - there is no food available between 4pm and 7:30pm (ice-creams etc are chargeable)

- The food at the mongolian a la carte is a joke, for a start it isn't a la carte as you have no choice in what you have - we expected a choice of steaks / fish etc - you are given you starters (dried smoked salmon on lettuce followed what can only be decribed as gravy browning broth with a few pieces of carrot in it) and your main is - you guessed it - STIR FRY!!! You do get a choice of meat though (that's it) - and unless you want to spend money you can accompany your meal with an soft drink you like!!! (hardly a la carte)

- This isn't the fault of the fuga - but don't go any earlier than June, the nights are freezing (as in coats, scarfs etc) and there is only one bar and it is all open...........

- Rooms - although we liked the minamilist style - they are now in need of some touch up work as they are statrting to look more shabby than shabby chic - the cable only has one english channel (hallmark) which mysterioulsy was unavailable for teh last 4 nights. There are no tea and coffee facilities, depending where you are you are a v steep hill away from the bar and the drinks in the mini bar are chargeable except water - so it's not easy to have a drink in your room. Also, they will stop re-stocking your mini bar with water automatically - phone reception and ask them to deliver!!!

- When / if you do decide to buy something - don't! The prices will cripple you (£10 for a tube of pringles and a pkt of peanuts)

- Last thing - if you are unfortunate to have an early morning flight like we did it is a miserable day - you are kicked out of your room at noon, to spend 11 hours until your coach picks you up killing time, there are no shower facilities so you may not want to use the poolside etc and they take your towel cards anyway. Technically your A/I stops at checks out - although it isn't policed (so we still had our meals) BUT they say that if you want anything it is chargeable, but nowhere accepts cash and you don't have a room card to charge it to - so that makes things tricky!!!

I know I have put a lot of things in here quite negative - but as I said we would return - but would know what to expect, we just felt a little hoodwinked that we hadn't been told about all the extra's etc when we booked it (if you know about it this shouldn't ruin your trip) As for the food - can't fault the quality and cleanliness - just the variety - we have said that if we go back we would refrain from doing the brit thing of 'having a bit of everything' as that would stop you eating the same thing so often........... And the resort really is stunning, it really really is.

All in all we were very happy with everything at Fuga. Food excellent - the a la carte Mongolian is definately worth a try. We had a couple of problems with the reception staff when our lights didnt work in the room, however it was eventually sorted. Staff elsewhere very attentive. The towel war was very annoying though - even though it was listed as a rule not to! However this was expected with the presence of our European friends!
Definately the place to go for chill out/relax time and the views were stunning which definately helps.
We also went on a jeep safari/cruise which was through Thomas Cook and is the best way to see parts of the country you wouldnt do normally! Exceptional!

We booked the Fuga at the last minute and knew what we were after. Peace, sun, food and good conversation.
The hotel is as it says built on the side of a hill and some of the roads leading to the varrious areas are very steep, as well as that there are steps everywhere. Not really a problem, just how it is!
I have never been to a hotel that has as many staff, they are everywhere and service is generally excellent in all areas of the hotel.
The local "booze" is fine. If you don't like it though, you will pay through the nose for named brands.
Food was always good, varried and plentiful. The resturant is open air, so is it is best not to leave your food unattended or the local sparrows will be on it in a flash (they are hellish entertaining though!)
Sun beds and giant bean bags were always available, although the sun bed position war started normally around 5.30am. You don't need to take towels with you. Towels are available in your room and at the pool and sea front.

There is limited entertainment in the evening, but it did not matter to us. The Spa looks great and everyone we met who went to it said it was really good (ave. 50 euros for a 50 minute massage).
Water sports were good.......i learn't to sail a little laser pico!

Overal, it was just what we wanted. Gumbet itself is just plain nasty. Bodrium was a little nicer. We were not there for the culture, we were there to relax.......and we certainly managed that.

So for laid back time i'd certainly recomend it.

All the best!
Steve

Our second visit to Fuga, we were there the same time last year, and it was as wonderful as we'd remembered.

If you are expecting wild night life then go somewhre else, however if you are into chillin out, great food, cool music and a fantastic location then Fuga could be for you!

The staff at Fuga really cannot do enough for you, are always smiling and helpful.

There is plenty of space at Fuga for eveyone, so it does not feel crowded. I personnaly would not recommend it for children as there are literally hundreds of steps everywhere. My teenagers would be bored and you would not relax with small children due to all the steps!

The weather in May can be changeable, we had 2 days of cloud but the temps. are always very pleasant.

This is a great place for girly week, we will be back next year!

This hotel is totally amazing. I went at peak season back in August and it was so hot. It has it's own private shingle beach which isnt ideal for sunbathing on but there were sunloungers/giant pillows right next to it and there was always some where sit. We went snorkelling at the beach too which was great and there were loads of colourfull fish in the sea, however if you want to go on a snorkelling/scuba excursion this was possible too. One of the bars is built right on the water front, this is particularly nice in the evening, you can go down to waters edge, have a drink and hear the waves lapping on the shore, lovely. The food was great, we went all inclusive and there was plenty of choice. We ate at the morroccan and fish al'carte which was nice. The hotel is built on a hill so might be difficult for someone with walking difficulites, however there is a free shuttle that picks you up and drives you around the complex. The pool was gorgeous and theres a small sectioned off area for children/toddlers, theres also a kids club each day. Theres a free gym which my boyfriend used which looks out to see. Our room was amazing, we had a honeymoon suite which overlooked the bay and had a jacuzzi and sofa chairs on the decking, it was also right by the spa and adults only pool. The adults only pool is very relaxing, its so quite and you can look out to sea from the pool. We went into the town on the local public bus one day which was fun and went to the fruit and veg market, we also bought some turkish delight. We found the staff at the resort to be very helpfull and friendly and if I went back to Gumbet would definitley want to stay here. Hope you find this review helpfull.
