“Great Residence with Great views, Poor Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

My family and I stayed in Salmakis Residence for a week during September. The Residence had awesome views and the rooms were very new. The kitchen was all updated with granite counters and stainless steal appliances. However, we had a lot of issues with the golf cart service. First off, we did not know that the golf cart service stops at 8pm!!! This was very inconvenient knowing the fact that breakfast/dinner, entertainment, pool, beach etc were all down by the main area and I had to walk up in that steep hill after 8pm with my 16th month old son! Also, the way and the ONLY way that the golf cart takes is where all the restaurant trash is located; therefore, we had to see all the unpleasant view while going up and down the hill on the golf cart. There was a golf cart driver "SERVET", and he was gracious enough to offer to take us upstairs to the room after 8pm if he was working that night. However, not all the golf cart drivers were nice & polite like him. They did not care if we had a baby with us. They still said the service closes at 8pm and that they couldn't pick us up with the cart. Most of the servers were very friendly. Especially, HASAN down at the beach restaurant was AWESOME! He never complained once, and he brought all the drinks we asked for despite the fact that he was working long hours in the heat. The other negative thing I will have to say about this hotel is the FOOD. Unfortunately, it was very unsatisfying. I've been to many 5 star all inclusive resorts, however, this one by far was the worst when it comes to food. Overall, LOVED our rooms at the residence. But the golf cart situation was a very bad experience. Having a 16 month old on the golf cart was NOT SAFE at all because the driver had to go on the "main" road to drop us off at the residence. The hotel definitely needs to find a safer way to transport residents down to the pool and beach area. I really do appreciate SERVET & HASAN's hospitality and generosity during our stay. They were GREAT!

Room Tip: Make sure to stay at the residence. It was very clean and new!

Perfect location with easy access to town - lovely beach, plenty of seating available - nice rooms - good food, gym, spa, pool all very well maintained; lots of activities and plenty of choices for all ages. Love how the staff are friendly with the cats who wander about; often they get chased away at resorts, but it is clear that most of the guests and staff adore their presence. Our evening waiter - Omar Faruk was very attentive and always made us feel like guests in his home; always making sure we had a table with a view and often adorning it with beautiful flowers from the garden.

Magnificent view. Rooms were OK. Food was OK. Most of the staff were very friendly. Special thanks goes to Omer Faruk. He was the by far most friendly staff I have ever seen, really.
I would go again because I love Bodrum Bardakci beach due to its excellent view and sea and the resort was good overall.

A great hotel with fantastic views. We stayed at Salmakis for a weeks holiday and had a lovely time. We arrived in the early hours after a 45 min journey from the airport and were welcomed by Sonny at reception who was very friendly and arranged for us to have a drink and a light meal which was much needed. The hotel reception is very impressive with beautiful high ceilings and luxurious seats and is spotlessly clean. We were shown to our room and our luggage taken for us.We were in 600 block and our room was huge with stocked mini bar, two air conditioning units which worked brilliantly and flat screen TV, Free safe provided in the room which was great. The room was again extremely clean with toiletries provided in the bathroom,The maid cleaned daily providing fresh towells and bedding, The balcony overlooked the beautiful bay where you could see Bodrum and the castle, There are lots of steps and walkways but you soon find your way around. The main restaurant was great. The food is fantastic and you were spoilt for choice at what to have as there were so many dishes of all kinds, all labelled and we enjoyed every meal we had, Erkan was our waiter and we made sure we sat at the tables he waited on as he was fantastic. He couldn't do enough for you always making sure that we had enough drinks etc and that we were happy. At the end of our holiday we made a point of speaking to his Manager to say thank you as he really is a credit to the hotel.Thank you Erkan for introducing me to local drink Ayran and making our stay so enjoyable. Overall this hotel is fantastic. The beach was small but there were always sunbeds available with a waiter service providing drinks all day and comfy beds with umbrellas. Tea & cakes served in the pool bar at 5 and every bar we went to in the hotel we were served in seconds by friendly staff. There were cats and kittens around the hotel which we loved and it was great to see them playing around. There was.always someone cleaning and sweeping and the hotel is so clean. There was not much entertainment in the evening just animation team, but you can catch the taxiboat at the end of beach for a quick boat ride over to Bodrum for 6 lira (around £2) if you want the nightlife. Bodrum was way too busy for us with lots of shops bars etc very commercial, we preferred Gumbet which was a 10 lira taxi ride away, We asked reception to book us a taxi which came in minutes and no haggling with prices. The only thing we would change about this hotel is that it would be nice to be able to take a walk outside for a stroll along the shops and bars but there is nothing nearby, but the rest of the hotel made up for this as the views are beautiful. We would definitely stay at Salmakis again. We have been to Turkey many times and have to say this is the best hotel we have stayed in.

The hotel location was very good, it was close to central and Gumbet where all the clubs are. The beach was not very big, it seemed a bit cramped. The service during breakfast and dinner was not to good, we couldn't find a table most of the times and the tables we found were usually not set up or cleaned. It took long for a waiter to come and help or ask us if we need anything. The service was slow at lunchtimes as well. Celal in the animation team was very welcoming and helpful when we were out with them. Erkan who was a waiter was also very helpful and caring during dinner times. The receptionist were quite careless as we requested a duvet for my friend they said they will note it down and send it to our room but we never received it. Overall i didn't feel very welcomed or felt at home. The best thing I would say about the hotel is the location.

Room Tip: Get rooms closer to the beach with sea view

What a great place. A wonderful location easy to get everywhere. With an outstanding animation team everything was made perfect. They spoke perfect English, they always made sure that we were safe when we went out and the activities during the day were really enjoyable without them the hotel wouldn't be as fun. Celal was amazing - he made me us feel at home and always made sure that we were told when things were happening and stayed with us when we went out. A really lovely person. Would definitely suggest this hotel for anyone to stay there.
