Looking the internet for a good Hotel at the village of Bodrum, the best choise we had it was the Marmara Bodrum. We were a little afraid of the brand name Marmara Hotels, because of the bad experience we had at the Marmara Istanbul (A huge Hotel that seems like a Train Station)... but as it was the best choice we had we booked just for the next day at the price of 160Euros BB.
The Hotel it was one of the best Hotel experiences i had the last years.... excellent service... excellent Hotel... excellent breakfast... excellent guest relations dept with Nino, an Italian guy, who was running around chating with the guests, finding solutions to any need. The decoration was fabylous... the most hip luxury i ever found the last years...
Bodrum has almost nothing to do... but i could be back at Bodrum just for this Hotel

We loved the decor and architecture of this hotel. It was stylish with just a touch of quirkiness! The view and the facilities were excellent. It would be difficult to fault this hotel.

It is a unique hotel with wonderful architecture and art, beautifully appointed rooms, and a location with great view of the town and the sea. We had a “garden view” room and were lucky that between the buildings we had a view of the sea. (Our room number was 1608. Rooms 1208 and 1210 on the floor above will have even better view.) The location on hilltop provided excellent view all around. The pool is lovely, and the restaurant deck above also provides a great view. The breakfast was sumptuous with very good variety. Fresh OJ and coffee were served at the table. It has very a good spa and fitness center.

It is a short (10 mins) walk downhill to town and harbor. But it is worth it to get taxi to come back (10 – 12 Lira) esp. if you are carrying water bottles back to your room.

I agree with earlier reviews that the food is expensive and we did not eat at the hotel except for a light lunch.

We enjoyed a half day sail on the Agean Sea. The price was 25 Lira per person including lunch. There were only 12 people on the boat and it stopped at various places so we could go for a swim in the crystal clear, blue Agean Sea.

Theres something about cities which are tourist traps and staying in one of the most exclusive hotels there which is both pleasing and disturbing.

Obviously the hotel lives up to its name.

The rooms are great with superb views of the city from the high point of the city.

The pool is big with a nice functional restaurant directly overlooking it and the city.

It infact has another dedicated sports area with a separate a separate pool tennis etc.

The spa is functional but once again with a fabulous view of the city.

The hotel itself is just 10-15 mins walk downhill from the main bay area of bodrum.

All this sounds great but people in bodrum have a habit of asking tourists which hotel they are staying at and if you happen to make the mistake of telling them that you stay at the marmara then immediately you get a ooohhh marmara look and suddenly they are more than willing to charge to double and send things to your hotel room.

Bargaining becomes difficult and they will taunt you about saving a few dollars when you are spending 400 dollars a night to stay at the marmara.

So beware as you have been warned.

  • Liked — location, stunning view.
  • Disliked — pricey curse if you let people where you live.

We have stayed in this hotel for two days. The hotel looks very good, is clean and has a great view. That's where the good things stop. The hotel is located far from the city center and there are no shops around. Everything in the restaurant is very expensive. As an example, a Caesar salad is about $15. When we first sat at the table the waiter came and served us with water (we didn't ask for it). When we finished our dinner we found out that the water was 10 turkish lira ($7). In the city the same bottle of water is 1 turkish lira. They are taking advantage that there are no restaurants around and it's difficult to find a restaurant. We didn't like this at all.
