“Only time will tell when and if it matures into what it wants to be.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

Reviews are not just about a view there is more to it if it is done correctly.

I stayed at the Yazici with my daughter. Our initial check in was encountered with problems as it appeared for some reason we were told we were booked into the sister hotel in Torba. After calls to London travel agent it was concluded the UK had made a mistake but for me to stay there it would be a further 60 Euros per night, this was very disappointing.

As people who were also checking in and paying less were upgraded for free,
I had guest that I had also invited to stay there so I had no choice but to stay there, they reduced the nightly rate to 40 euros in addition to the 220 per night.

The fees were not supposed to be taken until check out and one is normally asked on check out how one wishes to pay. Much to my annoyance fees were taken day before check in with out permission using a credit card used to make a reservation only, they then split the fees into 3 costing more then 100 euros in fees. They did not inform me of this until check out, on way to airport which then left me no choice as money was taken with no consultation this is very very unprofessional and wrong.

After the first night I had a meeting with the General manager who had excellent customer service skills, because we were staying for 9 days he kindly upgraded our room.

The hotel is lovely too big to be classed as a boutique hotel, but still trying to work out whether it is a business hotel or a holiday hotel.

The hotel s situated in the hills of Bodrum one would have a very long walk of at least 30/40 minute walk to Bodrum or it's a taxi ride, costs do add up if staying over a week. There is no where to go in immediate area so you are tied to hotel if you do not have a car.

Rooms

Having stayed in both types of room, suite and double, they are very nicely laid out and roomy, very clean, beds nice and comfortable. Some double rooms have sea view but you need to pay extra, the suites are much bigger better view but not direct sea view more pool view. The suites are situated further away and golf trolleys are needed to take you to and from the rooms, otherwise 10 min walk.

Breakfast

Sorry to say very poor, my pet hate is no labelling, one had to guess what certain things were, presentation for a 5 star charging that much money was very poor. Food was not kept cold or on ice, milk was just in a jug on the island not labelled or kept cold. Frozen sliced bread by toaster. Very little choice of cheese again not labelled. On many mornings when the tables were full there was not enough waiters. Fresh orange juice was mixed with concentrated juice. Boiled eggs only one choice 5 mins boiled sat in salt in silver salvas were cracked and looked SAD. The chef did make an omelette if you requested it, but even this was not 5star, the funny thing was when a guest asked to cook there own, the chef moved to the side and they cooked there own, bit of health and safety risk I would say. Breakfast on the whole for this establishment was very very poor and needs proper attention.

Pool area,

The main pool that was over looked by the breakfast area was very well laid out and had an infinity view that was spectacular, the beds and cabanas were well set out. However problem number one that has been mentioned in previous reviews is the noise, from morning till late evening you had a DJ playing awful club music, so for get peaceful reading or enjoying the views in peace, once it started it went on. If you had a room by this pool area it was very noisy.

Suite pool area was quieter.

Lunches were served by the pool was tasteful and well presented, waiters polite and good.

GYM

The hotel had a vast Spa area that always appeared empty but am sure was used. The gym was extremely well equipped, problem no one was there to show you how to use them, they did come After 10 am, well most people well I myself like to be there by 8 am until 9.30am. At no stage was there anyone there I had to learn how to play the stereo , put air con on, once the doors were closed I was in there on my own, should i have an accident or injure myself there would be no one around to check. Some days I saw no one, one or two occasions I came across balinese masseurs who spoke poor English but said they knew nothing about the Gym.

To me this again is unprofessional, a gym with this sort of sophisticated equipment needs supervision and someone to be there at all times, not someone who comes in at 10am.

Lobby area beautifully decorated people at reception very polite and helpful,

There is a shuttle on a demand basis to take one to the beach area and bring you back. The driver is avery nice man but drives Too fast he makes the journey many times a day and it feels as though he does get a bit complacent so he uses speed.

The Restrurant in the evening, food was poor and very average, it lacked ambiance and there was no atmosphere. Not value at all.

On the whole I think it still has teething problems it is a fairly new hotel and still has many areas it needs to look at, first and foremost the breakfast more 3 star lay out and content. It is missing something maybe it will come in time. Would I stay again No would I recommend it yes but not more then 3 nights tops. As I said A view does not justify the tariff nor does the word Boutique Hotel. Taking money before check out and not informing guest they are doing this is a definite No No and needs to be sorted out.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from main pool otherwise very noisy. Suites are better positioned.

Just come back from a week's holiday. Overall it was a very pleasant stay, very relaxing & very high standards of cleanliness. The hotel just desperately lacks a sense of hospitality.

The positives:
- very luxurious rooms & huge bath/shower
- great range of breakfast items
- stunning pool & very comfy sun beds
- amazing view of Bodrum from the pool area

The negatives:
- our room was on a ground floor, we had a palm tree directly in front of our terrace & the view was of a service road
- staff sometimes struggle to understand English & will often forget your drinks order at breakfast
- no staff seem to smile or seem interested in wishing you a good day (it's a small thing but everyone walks round looking depressed!)
- the best sun beds are taken & reserved early (despite a sign saying not to do so) - we took to getting up at 730 to get a good sun bed

In summary it was a very pleasant stay. If you're looking for relaxation & high quality this is the hotel for you. It just needs a bit more va va voom!

This hotel was a great choice. It has a a great view and service. The only thing that I can tell you that if you want to save money don't let them send a car to pick you up from the apirport. You can find a taxi at the airport for 69 Turkish Liras vs 125 that they offer. You can use the mini buses if you don't want to use taxi every time you go downtown

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at the Grand Yazici. The hotel was fantastic with excellent views, the best pool ever and the staff were brilliant. We had a ground floor room which was lovely but there wasnt much of a view so we asked if we could move, the hotel staff couldnt do enough for us and gave us a choice of two other rooms. We moved to a first floor room with a view over Bodrum we also asked for a kettle in our room which was provided immediately. The only minor downside was the music around the pool which was pretty monotonous, but for those that want peace and quiet there is another pool at to the top of the hill which seemed to be a well kept secret as most of the time there were only a handful of people there-heaven!

Its a pretty steep walk into Bodrum (ladies-you need sensible shoes!) but you can get taxis for about 15 lira or a bus from the bottom of the hill. Would be great if the hotel provided a shuttle service as they do to the beach.

Really couldnt fault the hotel but not sure we'd go back to Bodrum as it wasnt really our scene.

Room Tip: Ask for a first floor room as the view is to die for!

We had a sea view bedroom, amazing view. Excellent house keeping and restaurant staff. They are all very sweet and helpfull.
Nice restaurant specially for The Cafe de Paris steak! We are still thinking about this sauce.
The main swimming pool is original and has also a beautiful view of the sea and Bodrum.
The water of the Spa swimming pool was a bit cold it was the only negative point.
Just 5 minutes in Taxi from the city. Great location.

I went for honeymoon with my wife at Grand Yazici Bodrum from 01-Sep-2012 to 07-Sep-2012. My overall rating is; Excellent.

Hotel: Amazing true 5 Star Hotel with amazing rooms
Service: Staff was friend and always willing to help
Breakfast: I don’t know why some reviewers complain but there is something for everyone and the breakfast service is great (with an omelette and pan cake bar along with a wide selection of cheese, meat, fruits, cereals etc)
Swimming Pool: Amazing Infinity swimming pool which is a real treat with amazing and beautiful views
Distance to Bodrum Marina: It’s a 5 mins and 16 lira Taxi ride away. Having said that keep in mind its an amazing place and away from chaos. I did see the hotels near bodrum and they seemed very average and hotel like. Grand Yacizi was not that far to be a problem but do take this into account when staying over. I would recommend a waiting counter to be created so guests can “share cabs”. The hotel needs to look into this.
Torba: If you do want to chill at the beach, the hotel runs a free shuttle to grand yazici torba where you can grab a bed and relax or swim and explore.

Negatives: None! It was truly an amazing experience
Spa: Did not use and did not offer and tailored discounted packages like other Hotel spas which in my opinion is a real shame

I had a fantastic time at grand yazici. Room was amazing, pool was fantastic. Definately coming back. Hotel staff were kind enough to let us borrow a room at 8pm despite checking out at 12 to shower and change before a flight home.
All round fantastic service.
