Reviews are not just about a view there is more to it if it is done correctly.
I stayed at the Yazici with my daughter. Our initial check in was encountered with problems as it appeared for some reason we were told we were booked into the sister hotel in Torba. After calls to London travel agent it was concluded the UK had made a mistake but for me to stay there it would be a further 60 Euros per night, this was very disappointing.
As people who were also checking in and paying less were upgraded for free,
I had guest that I had also invited to stay there so I had no choice but to stay there, they reduced the nightly rate to 40 euros in addition to the 220 per night.
The fees were not supposed to be taken until check out and one is normally asked on check out how one wishes to pay. Much to my annoyance fees were taken day before check in with out permission using a credit card used to make a reservation only, they then split the fees into 3 costing more then 100 euros in fees. They did not inform me of this until check out, on way to airport which then left me no choice as money was taken with no consultation this is very very unprofessional and wrong.
After the first night I had a meeting with the General manager who had excellent customer service skills, because we were staying for 9 days he kindly upgraded our room.
The hotel is lovely too big to be classed as a boutique hotel, but still trying to work out whether it is a business hotel or a holiday hotel.
The hotel s situated in the hills of Bodrum one would have a very long walk of at least 30/40 minute walk to Bodrum or it's a taxi ride, costs do add up if staying over a week. There is no where to go in immediate area so you are tied to hotel if you do not have a car.
Having stayed in both types of room, suite and double, they are very nicely laid out and roomy, very clean, beds nice and comfortable. Some double rooms have sea view but you need to pay extra, the suites are much bigger better view but not direct sea view more pool view. The suites are situated further away and golf trolleys are needed to take you to and from the rooms, otherwise 10 min walk.
Sorry to say very poor, my pet hate is no labelling, one had to guess what certain things were, presentation for a 5 star charging that much money was very poor. Food was not kept cold or on ice, milk was just in a jug on the island not labelled or kept cold. Frozen sliced bread by toaster. Very little choice of cheese again not labelled. On many mornings when the tables were full there was not enough waiters. Fresh orange juice was mixed with concentrated juice. Boiled eggs only one choice 5 mins boiled sat in salt in silver salvas were cracked and looked SAD. The chef did make an omelette if you requested it, but even this was not 5star, the funny thing was when a guest asked to cook there own, the chef moved to the side and they cooked there own, bit of health and safety risk I would say. Breakfast on the whole for this establishment was very very poor and needs proper attention.
The main pool that was over looked by the breakfast area was very well laid out and had an infinity view that was spectacular, the beds and cabanas were well set out. However problem number one that has been mentioned in previous reviews is the noise, from morning till late evening you had a DJ playing awful club music, so for get peaceful reading or enjoying the views in peace, once it started it went on. If you had a room by this pool area it was very noisy.
Suite pool area was quieter.
Lunches were served by the pool was tasteful and well presented, waiters polite and good.
The hotel had a vast Spa area that always appeared empty but am sure was used. The gym was extremely well equipped, problem no one was there to show you how to use them, they did come After 10 am, well most people well I myself like to be there by 8 am until 9.30am. At no stage was there anyone there I had to learn how to play the stereo , put air con on, once the doors were closed I was in there on my own, should i have an accident or injure myself there would be no one around to check. Some days I saw no one, one or two occasions I came across balinese masseurs who spoke poor English but said they knew nothing about the Gym.
To me this again is unprofessional, a gym with this sort of sophisticated equipment needs supervision and someone to be there at all times, not someone who comes in at 10am.
Lobby area beautifully decorated people at reception very polite and helpful,
There is a shuttle on a demand basis to take one to the beach area and bring you back. The driver is avery nice man but drives Too fast he makes the journey many times a day and it feels as though he does get a bit complacent so he uses speed.
The Restrurant in the evening, food was poor and very average, it lacked ambiance and there was no atmosphere. Not value at all.
On the whole I think it still has teething problems it is a fairly new hotel and still has many areas it needs to look at, first and foremost the breakfast more 3 star lay out and content. It is missing something maybe it will come in time. Would I stay again No would I recommend it yes but not more then 3 nights tops. As I said A view does not justify the tariff nor does the word Boutique Hotel. Taking money before check out and not informing guest they are doing this is a definite No No and needs to be sorted out.
