Upon arrival to the apartment, we were informed that we did not have a reservation.we were asked by the security guards to fill out a checking in form. On the form it asked what apartment we were staying. As we were not informed by bookable holidays, we were not aware. The guard then gave us a list of their reservations, which we were not on. We explained to the guards that our name was not on it, which they then shrug their shoulders and said that we did not have a reservation with them.
At this point we were very stressed as we were standing out in the dark, with our luggage.
I tried to call our agent which was bookable holiday, emergency number, which no one picked up, so I left a message explaining the situation and that we would like someone to all us back asap. (Up to this day, no one rang us)
In total we were waiting outside in the dark for 45 minutes
we were then put in a temporary accomadation for the night
The apartment was Magnolia 15. There were a number of problems with this apartment.
• The bed in one of the room was broken
• The safe was not working
• The bedroom window did not close
The next day we had to chase up what was happening. We finally got our apratment at 3pm. Which wasted our day. Ths partment was better, and in a better location.
Everything on our resort was closed, the restaraunt, bar and spa. We were not informed this when making our booking.
on departure, we have to take our luggage back to the secruity gates, which was exhasting, as it is so hilly.
Turquiose resort which was next door was a much better resort.
not again for us.

You seem to have experienced some poor service and are justifiably upset.

The resort is actually made up of individual apartments and villas and has no central reception area (as you would find in a hotel). It is therefore vitally important before you travel that you get all of the relevant information relating to your accommodation from your booking agent, in this case Bookable Holidays, so that you know for example the name of the apartment or villa and that accommodations managing agents name and contact details. Bookable Holidays will only be working with one management team so they should be able to supply this information readily. If they can't, book through another agent, there are some excellent ones associated with the resort.
The problems you outline are mostly associated with bookings where there is a disconnect between the booking agency and the local management support team. Although in your case it is unfortunately too late, this is not the case with all booking agents and there several good agents that have been working with the resort for the past three or four years that have excellent systems in place to avoid such problems. There are also some simple steps that you can take to ensure a problem free arrival at the resort. These are:
- Always ask your booking agent for full details of the local management team they are working with (there are many agents)
- Ensure that on arrival you have a booking reference, local support contact number and name of your accommodation
- Use a booking agent that have their own management teams on-site - these will liaise with each other so that your arrival is expected
- Use a transfer company that know the resort / accommodations well and can communicate with the Turkish speaking security staff on your behalf
If you follow the above guidance you will generally be in your accommodation within 50 - 60 minutes of arrival in Turkey.
With regards amenities, Flamingo Country Club is one of three sister resorts which share amenities. For example, many of the amenities are duplicated at one or more of these resorts. A site bus takes you between resorts for your convenience although the timetable is a little flaky (it is Turkey after all). You can also walk between resorts, they are no more than 5 - 8 minutes from each other. It is true that late in the season that various amenities close but in general most things are open and running in September. For example there are 19 pools on Flamingo and all are operating. Other facilities such as tennis, golf, bar etc are also running. This situation will continue to improve in 2013 as a new resort management team has now been installed.
With regards your accommodation, there are several hundred properties on site. These are maintained by a number of different management teams and so differ in location, amenities, decor and views. If you book through an agent that can show you exactly the property you will be staying in then this is a good start as these companies have local management teams on-site to help you on arrival and during your stay. There are several such companies we can recommend but in general terms you can find them simply by searching the internet for "accommodation on flamingo country club" and then reviewing sites with specific adverts (avoid sponsored links for the best choice).
We agree that Turquoise resort is an excellent resort, it is one of the three sister resorts mentioned above, but Flamingo Country Club has received excellent reviews in 2012 and has the added advantage that many apartments have poolside locations and stunning sea views.
