“Do they like children?”

The Hotel Patara Viewpoint

Almost stayed here, but after half an hour in the bar beside the pool we got the distinct impression that it was not the place for two young children - more like Brirts colonial club abroad, which just isn't our up of tea but I'm sure suits some.

Looked neat and tidy though, and the rooms were OK.

There are a lot more basic places to stay, so if you like your comforts this is a good choice.

Thankyou for taking your time to express your reviews on trip advisor, even after such a short visit of only half an hour!
We were very disappointed to hear that you felt it was likes a 'Brits colonial club abroad' We pride ourselves in having such a mixture of nationalities coming to stay at the hotel Patara Viewpoint. Certainly in the main European holidays you would find a greater mix of French, Dutch, Italian, German and British guests.
However September does tend to be more popular with our British guests, it is also a month in which many of our regular guests return, so it is understandable that it may have had a 'colonial club' atmosphere at the time of your visit. But had you stayed, we are sure that you would infact have thoroughly enjoyed your visit.
As for your question 'Do we like children'? YES WE DO. But for a more child focused atmosphere, you need to visit in one of the school holidays, when you will meet many families with children of all ages. We have several families who return year after year. At other times of year it is hit and miss as to whether there are other families with young children staying at the same time. But this certainly does not mean that they are not welcome.
We hope that should you visit Patara again, then you will take the time to pop in and see us and perhaps even stay.

We returned to this hotel after a 10 year gap to find the same very high standards of hospitality and cleanliness. The View point is approximately 2 Km from one of the best beaches in the world with 18km
of golden sand and clean safe sea.

The hotel also provides a daily taxi tractor service to and from the beach. It is an extremely pleasant walk through the ancient Lycian city ruins, which are currently being restored.

The breakfasts in the hotel were excellent and both the pool, bars and ottoman terrace great places to relax. I would recommend the evening barbecues, which were held twice per week.

The St Nicholas Restaurant in the village is also worth a visit as well as a number of other pleasant bars and restaurants. We will definitely be returning here.

My wife and I just returned to the US from our Turkish honeymoon. I couldn't be happier to report tha our Istanbul/Mediterranian combo was 100% incredible.

Muzzafer and Anne Louise did a wonderful job making our stay on the Med perfect. We reconfirmed our reservations from Istanbul and Muzzafer met us at the Dalaman airport for a pleasant drive to the hotel. Anne Louise made sure our hopes for a boat tour were met and arranged for a private fireside table on the last day of our trip.

The accomodations and area were just what we had hoped for. A pleasant room, great food, a relaxing cruise, an amazing beach and the exploration of Roman-era ruins made for a wonderful four days after the cosmopolitan hustle and bustle of the big city.

We pinned our hopes on good weather in late October and were rewarded with the ideal -- highs in the mid-80s and cool evenings. Turkish Airways made the flights very reasonable. I highly recommend my countrymen in the US consider a vacation at the Patara Viewpoint. It is a perfect place for a reasonable but extrordinary vacation.

Thanks again to Muzzafer and Anne Louise!

“Great Potential”

The Hotel Patara Viewpoint

We stayed at this hotel during the school holidays with our very well behaved teenager.

This hotel is a mixture of delightful and outrageous.

The location is superb, the atmosphere was very cosmopolitan and we booked on initial recommendations from The Guardian and other websites.

All other guests were extremely friendly and kind. We made many good friends and enjoyed communal outings to different locations including canoeing and meals at local restaurants.

There is a definate problem with Mustapher however and he is part-owner with his partner Anne-Louise. She works incredibly hard to make the whole thing work. He makes neat work of destroying it. Mustapher was rude, unpleasant, arrogant and without doubt hostile to the many young people and children staying there at the time. I honestly feel they would be better to make this hotel an adult only environment as we felt the children could not move a muscle before Mustapher would pounce on them and send them to their rooms. At times it felt like we were at boarding school rather than on a hard-earned and well deserved holiday.

It was such a shame as the location was beautiful and far removed from the commercialism which so often ruins areas of Turkey.

Thankyou for taking the time to express your review on trip advisor. Thankyou also for your positive comments about the hotel, location and the village.
We were disappointed to hear however that your children did not enjoy their stay. Regarding your comments concerning this I would like to make a couple of observations, which I hope may be helpful for future families with children planning to stay at the hotel.
We are a child friendly hotel , we welcome children of all ages at any time and have many families who return year after year during the Spring, Summer and Autumn holidays. For this reason we will never become an 'adult only hotel' as our young guests are as important to us as the adult guests.
At no time would any member of the management or staff ever send a child to their room. Children who are visitors at the hotel are the sole responsibility of their parents. There are occasions however when members of staff have had to remind youngsters of health and safety issues ie: running into the marble area of the hotel without drying off after swimming, as it provides a dangerous and slippery area for others. We have to consider the safety of all guests at all times.
It is unfortunate that the reviewer took a dislike to the hotel owner. Contrary to what has been written here about the owner, he successfully works together with a loyal, hardworking group of staff who have been here for many years and has built up a huge clientele who return year after year. (both children and adults).
We are only sorry that the reviewer did not discuss their concerns at the time of their visit here and then we could have cleared what have obviously been huge misunderstandings.
We realise that we cannot please all of the people all of the time, but would prefer to have the opportunity to rectify any misunderstandings at the time a problem occurs. We certainly aim to learn from any constructive critisism.
If the reviewer would like to discuss any further the issues that caused them discontent during their stay, then please do feel free to get in touch with us directly at the hotel. viewpoint_hotel@hotmail.com or give us a call on the telephone.

This is the second year we have stayed at the view point and it was again fantastic. After having a traumatic few months this year this was the place to come for total relaxation. we stayed around the pool most of the time which is just what we needed, but there are many activities to go on if you wish and Anne-Louise and Muzzafer are the perfect hosts. One of the highlights of the holiday for me was that I swam with dolphins a truly amazing experience. The hotel is spotless and the food is very good. In the village there is a good range of restaurants to choose from and the people are very friendly. In fact only one thing to say about a holiday in Patara staying at the View Point
FANTASTIC
