We turned up in Patara without accomodation, as many others do, just me, my partner, our 3 yr old and a new-born, so decided to choose a hotel with pool rather than B & B.
Hotel Mehmet looks good at first glance. The staff were friendly and helpful. And Mehmet is head of the Patara Tourist Board (or something like that).
The reality was a lot different, and he should be ashamed. The pool was hardly ever cleaned unless we aksed for it to be done.
We had two adjoining en-suite rooms, and even after a whole bottle of bleavh one was unuseable (and we aren't fussy about such things, we've both backpacked in Asia).
The baby cot was an upturned table - unsutiable beyond belief.
The mosquito nets has holes in.
The door handle fell off, but it made no difference because the doors didn't fit properly.
Pubes in the drawers and on the floors.
Ants running amok in the kitchen area, which hadn't been cleaned since what seemed like pre-historic times.
etc....etc....etc....
The hotel needs money spent on it, a good clean, and more staff - leaving the whole running of the place to one young man is just not right.
We weren't the only people there so some evenings were spent trading Hotel Mehmet horror stories over Raki.
I hope it improves because it is in a perfect location.
