Not a bad hotel at all really. Very average and, if you are in a room near the front, very noisy.
The style of the hotel is "ormolu opulent" which is impressive if not practical. Rooms and bathrooms a decent size and clean so couldn't ask for more really. Food average but plentiful.
Apparently there is a nightclub of dubious repute right next door.... to trap the unwary.!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Our last night before returning to the UK was a good one, although I had had some concerns as I knew that the hotel was next to a nightclub and in a busy area. I need not have worried as, although the bedroom looked out onto the side of the club there were no disturbances of any kind, and even the traffic petered out to nothing overnight. The only disturbance was from - you guessed it! - the call to prayers at 4.am. The room was a decent size with an ornate bed and furniture and a good bathroom with no problems at all. Everything was very clean and the dining room what we had come to expect, although smaller than some (a good point), with the normal standard fare, some a bit dubious. All-in-all, perfectly acceptable.

We had an adequate sized room, with a large comfortable Queen sized bed. The furnishings were ok. The flat screen TV had two English language channels.

The room and halls smelled of tobacco smoke. It was supposed to be a non-smoking room.

The bathroom had major problems, the shower head fell apart, and the shower door fell off. The shower is very difficult to get into because the tub is very tall, if you are tall you won't fit into the shower because of a low ceiling.

The breakfast was ok. The Buffet dinner had a very poor selection and was very bland, one of the worst meals we had during our 34 day tour of Turkey

This was the last night of a 12 night tour and so expectations were low after arriving late in the day and leaving early in the morning for the airport.
We were surprised as this hotel is exactly what we would have expected of a Turkish traditional theme - as soon as we walked in we were struck by the delightful Turkish furnishings and style. So this led to the anticipation of a great last evening in Turkey.
The bathroom and shower were very good. But the room was very average, incredibly hot (and the air conditioning at its coldest blew warm air through a radiator which in turn lifted the curtains and blew them into the room). I ended up with a very dry mouth in the middle of the night because of the atmosphere I believe. TV was poor - we couldn't get an English speaking channel - not even the (boring) BBC World Service or CNN which is usually everywhere. You would have thought TV would be better in the middle of a capital city although given all we needed was a bed for a night - it didn't matter too much to us.
The evening meal was limited and fairly unexciting, and Breakfast was also rather disappointing.
Overall, I felt somewhat let down

It is like a joke to rate the hotel 5 star. In a cold october night the heating was insufficient. On the TV there is only government approved religious channels, you expect international TV channels in a 5 star hotel. The hotel is surrounded by cheap and dangerous night clubs although its location is a plus, not too far from the City center, the Kizilay Square. The dinner food is not bad but there is limited choice. The coffee machine in the breakfast buffet is not functioning.

This hotel was a delight. The public areas and rooms were furnished with what appeared to be antique furniture. Like stepping back in time to the Orient Express. Only problem was at breakfast when several tour groups from all over the world descended on the rather small restaurant and small breakfast buffet. Only one coffee dispenser was a real bottleneck.

Room Tip: Avoid restaurant when tour groups attack.

As you enter through the doors of the hotel, you ll think how on earth could this hotel earn 5 stars??
Breakfast is so disgusting that you can't even look at the bufe.
The hotel is located among the poor night clubs. I woke up at 3 am hearing Gunshots!! Not a safe place to stay!!
