“Unexpectedly good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2014

It was an amazing experience. Good location, railway station was on walking distance, good food not so far from city centre. Wifi good, accommodation was relaxing. Overall a nice experience. Staff was not familiar to English & only one desk man was capable to guide us.

Room Tip: Ask to have room over the residential side

We stayed at the Barcelo for one night only as we were attending to wedding in Ankara. The room we stayed in was overlooking to the main road therefore despite windows been closed it was very noisy. The room was spacious with 2 queen beds, enough space but very hot at night. There was no iron or iron board in the room and it took over half an hour to get one in the morning. We were too tired from the night before, missed the breakfast so no reviews about that unfortunately.

Room Tip: Request rooms not overlooking to the main road

I stayed at the Barcelo Ankara Hotel 2 nights durin a business trip to Ankara. The romm was very big, and includes a seperate seating area with a large screen TV, minibar and coffe corner. The bed was latrge and comfy and the bathroom was huge, with an electrical jacuzzi which imcludes few lights mode and music channels. There was many amenities, loke tiith brush, shaver etc. I did not use the pool at the 9th floor and many otherfacilities. I used the breakfast only once, and it was good - not excelent. Ther is a Migros across the Hotel, which is a great plus. If you need to stay in Ankara, i would recomend this Hotel. You will not be disappointed.

This is the classic tale of good mixed with bad. I will start with the good points.
The location is very good, as you can walk to Attaturk's mausoleum in just a few minutes. There are some great restaurants and cafes nearby. The Metro Station is right outside. We were unfortunate enough to be hit by the recent Lufthansa strike, and the lady at reception was very helpful in aiding us in talking to Lufthansa's Turkish office to rearrange our flights. Two free bottles of water provided daily. The room was always cleaned well. Bed extremely comfortable.

The bad bits...
You can't open the windows in the room. We arranged airport transfers, it is 30 euros one way, 50 euros return. we had to rearrange our return date so we were charged 25 for our part of the first trip and 30 for the trip back, even though the same guy in the same minibus carried out the transfer so they overcharged us by 5 euros.
We booked bed and breakfast via ebookers but were told on the first morning that we were room only and hit with a 50 lira breakfast bill... considering you can get breakfast for 10 lira per person in a cafe 100m away, we didn't go back for any meals.
on arrival we were told that there was a jacuzzi that was included in the price. My partner then went out to buy a bikini so she could use the jacuzzi. We were told it wasn't open as it was broken. She went back the next day, to be told it is always broken!
One night some inconsiderate guests who had been attending a conference were running up and down the corridor, shouting, laughing and behaving like children well after midnight. My partner called reception to complain but nothing happened. They continued this behaviour well into the early hours. Twice our room cards locked us out. Twice our free wifi was locked out. My partner and I make a point of smiling at staff but none of them seemed to want to smile back. They looked uninterested. There was a distinct lack of acknowledgement upon arrival or departure on a daily basis.
The transfer picks you up outside the terminal, not inside where the other transfer drivers wait with the name placards. we were not told this so spent some time wandering around looking for our driver!

I would recommend this hotel for sure It had nice modern rooms with comfortable beds and bedding. The location is very good. It is right at the Ankara Arena and just a short walk to the train station. It is also less than a mile walk to the Atatürk mausoleum, also right on Mustafa Kemal Boul with many great shops very convenient. The front desk staff were nice & helpful with every aspect, next time to travel to Ankara for sure I'll be there. 100%

Room Tip: 7th Floor, have less noise ~;)

I stayed in this hotel a couple of years back and had a very very worst experince because the building and the rooms were worn out. This time I was disappointed when I found out the reservation as arranged by a tourism agency for a bussiness meeting in Ankara was in that once horrible hotel. To my surprise, it was renovated with a great success. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. Both the dinner and the breakfast were "average" in Turkish standards. They have free wifi connection. The location is quite good and this hotel cen be considered for bussiness trips.

Room Tip: The hotel is located on a busy road so the rooms facing it might be noisy
